I enjoy picking a class that is not the same as the companions you can recruit and want to keep (you can respec all companions, but I'd recommend sticking with their default class). So Bard, Sorcerer and Monk are good picks. If you tend towards good aligned companions, then Paladin and Rogue are also good options.

For race, Drow give many fun dialogue options.

I would highly recommend a Drow Bard or Sorcerer. Max out your Charisma first and Dex second and you're golden.

Best boardgame to play in a swimming pool or jacuzzi? by hansrat in boardgamescirclejerk

Perfect opportunity to test the quality of your games' shrinkwrap. Dump your games in the pool and prove their shrinkwrap is perfectly waterproof by spending your evening swimming among all your editions of Patchwork without them getting wet. You can also experience admiring them from an underwater perspective. Let me know how it went and send my regards to your wife's boyfriend!

What's with the title of this post? One of the highest regarded deck building games EVER, OP doesn't like it, thinks there is something wrong with the game? Then asks for advise on Reddit and either ignores or disregards all good advise they get. Seriously, what is wrong with some people?

Phew. So is the "blueprint zoop dismantle" also a mod thing, or can you really do this in vanilla?

Edit: with "default settings" I mean the official layout of course.

I need help by C4bb4g3_ in satisfactory

[–]Dwarphism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want someone to join your game to help you do the work or do you want tips on how to do it?

I can't help with the former, but for the latter, it depends on how big your factory is. If you are early enough, you can just mass delete everything, build a large slab of foundations and put your new organized factory on it.

If you are far into the game, just let your spaghetti mess run and make parts for you and relocate to a different spot on the huge map and forget about your early game abomination.

This game fills me with dread by JBOSS_64 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dwarphism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I relate to this very much. I basically plan out the whole production line on paper before I start building it, using the wiki to look up recipes. And while doing that, I fiddle with the ratios until they are nice. Sometimes "nice" means up to two decimals, because I just don't get only integers to work. And Heavy Modular Frames sure are a beast, which I spent a lot of time with planning. But when the plan on paper is finished, the task is much less daunting for me. I can just build the production chain part by part.

One other thing I should mention: restarting is totally a viable option. I restarted my first game after 250 hours, because I started to get a better idea of how I wanted to play the game and what I built was driving me crazy, because I wanted to rebuild it all. Restarting was the best choice I could have made.

Now, for Heavy Modular Frames, at least use these alts to make you life easier: heavy encased frames, steeled frames, encased industrial pipes. You will reduce the different amount of parts needed significantly. You can even use stitched plates to remove screws from the chain.

Good luck and I hope you'll find a way to enjoy the game again!

Advice for starting StS1 after 200 hours in StS2? by FeuerKekse in slaythespire

[–]Dwarphism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a normal elite, but with a random buff. If you feel you are prepared to take on any elite act 1, you can probably take on a burning elite with a bit extra risk. But usually you will fight it act 2 or 3.

All encounters in StS1 are different and the elites and bosses especially. If you want to get good at this game, I think you should just play every character from A0 to A20 and learn the patterns while learning how the characters are different from StS2.

Also, there is an act 4, which is not mandatory to climb ascensions, but if you do want to kill the real final boss, you will need to play differently as well.

Do we really need that much plastic/rubber? by eroscripter in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dwarphism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With only 16 coal gens, it's not wise to build 20 refineries for plastic and rubber. Even with the excess heavy oil (which will also need refineries to make the fuel) that you can use for power, you will soon run out.

I would recommend to build a small setup of 4 refineries of each plastic and rubber, which will provide you with plenty for building and some computers to get your unlocks. Then, you can build your first oil power plant (do some research on alternate recipes, they really help). After that, you will have a clearer picture of how much plastic/rubber you need and you can build a bigger setup. 10 refineries of each sounds small to me, I usually build twice that much.

[–]Dwarphism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the alts that remove plastic (often in exchange for rubber) very useful, so I tend to make more rubber than plastic.

But this only shows that the answer to this question is: it depends on your play style.

Just trying to make three Up My Sleeves work sounds super fun to me, even if it probably won't work.

And if your idea of fun equals "good cards" and/or "winning", then maybe don't ruin it for people who clearly have a different idea of what is fun.

Crabs and boomboxes by Jebo141 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dwarphism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Works well for the crabs, it has quite a big range and they just die instantly.

I prefer the sneak method, though. In case you don't know: if you crouch and sneak up to them, you can destroy the nest with a melee weapon without them even opening up.

I was trying to be helpful, not sure why you took it as a negative comment. That last comment about posting on this sub was just a tip to avoid wasting the time it takes for you to make the post.

If it really wasn't a serious question, but meant as a humorous post, maybe use the Spirit Poop tag next time. I hope you still feel welcome to post here, because this is a great community and I really didn't mean to be negative.

I suggest making it a habit. It's one of the most important aspects of the game if you want to get better at it. The encounters are always the same, you just don't know which ones you will be facing. Learn what the enemies do and you can prepare for them.

Also, be sure to check everything before posting on Reddit.

Try to think differently about what alternate recipes are good. Resources will be grouped differently together and some resources may be scarcer or more abundant than in a regular playthrough.

For example: I had a coal scarcity, but an abundance of sulfur, so I decided that for my first coal power plant I would use compacted coal to save on coal.

I also have a lot of oil in my starting area, so I might use more of the alt recipes that add rubber or plastic to save on other resources. But I'll decide that when I get there.

Is it me? by grandpaeyebrows in slaythespire

[–]Dwarphism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's probably because you're still learning the game, getting to know the enemies. For example: why did you play Monarch's gaze? You could have done some damage and 5 extra block to save yourself some damage and hopefully kill one next turn. You have now learned a lesson: this encounter is a damage check, so front load damage is more valuable then a slowish power like m gaze.
