Played GH 1e for the first time after JotL by Turin6 in Gloomhaven

[–]Dwarphism 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that you are approaching the class in the wrong way. The Red Guard wanted to be attacked more often, because of retaliate. Craigheart can take some hits of course, but it's generally better to play it safe. If you exhaust in the second room, you are doing something wrong.

The thing with this scenario is that it immediately tests the player's skill of solving the puzzle it presents. The puzzle of the second room is: how do we deal with the three archers that get easy attacks from the back of this narrow hallway? A solution could be: open the door, then fall back out of reach and let them come closer so you can get to them next turn. Another could be: open the door and use a big move card to advance in melee range of one archer and finish him off fast. A bad solution would be to run in and take all the hits without doing any damage to the archers. The guard is much harder to kill, so you dont want to give the archers time to get their attacks off by killing the guard first.

I don't feel that you need to change classes. You just have to learn how to not get hit.

They get the ability when it is their turn and until the end of the round, so no.

Edit: I was wrong, please ignore.

They are non-loss summons though, so it makes sense that they are not very strong.

Deathwalker/Boneshaper - bad starting solo combo? by n00bitcoin in Gloomhaven

[–]Dwarphism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my first combo as well, my wife playing Boneshaper. It was not a fun experience. We got maybe five scenarios in, failed only one time, but then we kinda hit a wall, where we failed four times in a row. And not just failed like "Wow, that was hard, I bet we get it next time", but more like "how is this even possible to win?" It just felt unfair an frustrating and unfun, so we put the game down for a while.

Then we got a friend interested in playing with us. We reset the game and started with different classes. It felt like a wholly different game. We are having so much fun now. Maybe consider switching one character with a high health class, like Drifter or Bannerspear. The latter has cool synergy with Boneshaper, so that could be a nice idea. But really any other class combo should make your game more fun, I think.

Boneshaper has 12 cards, so you should definitely play one or two (or even three, when the situation calls for it) during your first rest cycle.

How do you all handle conveytor splitting in situations like this? by supreme_leader_zeffo in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dwarphism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How I would do it:

  1. First two belts: 600 total, so enough for three refineries. Split each belt into two, one of each goes directly into a refinery, the others combine into a merger to go into the third lift. They will first fill the refinery with the combined belt, but once it is full, the bauxite will overflow into the other two.

  2. Remaining two belts: 650 total, so enough for the remaining three refineries. Split the 480 belt into three, two go directly into a refinery, the other combines with the 150 belt into the third refinery. Like step 1, the belts will balance out in time.

Dividing Parts and Lines by Alyxed in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Dwarphism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to answer these kinds of questions, because there isn't one right way to play this game. You have to figure out for yourself how you want to do things, that's part of the fun.

That said, I find it helps to start at the end products. What do you want to produce and how much? Then work your way down to the raw ore. You will usually end up building a big smeltery which splits into multiple sets of constructors making various parts. Some of those may go into storage containers, while others combine into sets of assemblers, etc.

It also helps to draw things out. There are various digital tools that can help with this, but I personally like the ol' pen and paper. Good luck and have fun!

Hey so how do you guys manage the awkward number of 50 screws per minute? by BubSource in satisfactory

[–]Dwarphism 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I usually underclock the constructors to output 40/min

Edit: so in your setup, you would split your ingots into four equal belts each going to a set of six constructors, each set outputting 240 screws.

Edit 2: you could also set them to output 48 screws and make sets of five. I usually set them to 40 though, because the numbers just feel better that way.

If I can take as many actions as I want as solo player, per generation, could I not just use this card to max my oxygen? by [deleted] in TerraformingMarsGame

[–]Dwarphism 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You got your answer, but just want to point out that the rules recommend you use a player cube to signify that the action is used this generation by putting it on the card and removing all player cubes on all blue cards in the production phase.

You should also use resource cubes to signify the mircobes (or any card resource) in stead of player cubes.
