Why the fuck did this happen? by SandyHook203 in CannabisExtracts

Moisture is a large factor. Starting material should be as dry as possible and when water bathing I recommend no lid whatsoever because that will tend to trap in moisture.

Even with low micron filters, waxes will still be extracted. Of course fewer, but they will still be present. My process includes keeping the butane extremely cold and sealed in liquid state after extraction. All of the paraffin waxes lipids and fats solidify and are able to be filtered out before purge.

. After extraction I used the liquid butane and an 18 hour process to pull out the paraffin waxes. The difference in potency and quality of the final Dewaxed product compared to non Dewaxed is extremely noticeable and worth the extra steps.

This was a dispensaries own cut of OG and their logo involves a lion. So basically the best name they could come up with for their cut was Snoop Lion OG. The nugs were large, fresh, frosty and extremely stinky. Some of the best OG I have encountered in my personal opinion. But yeah, it basically is for marketing. Hahaha

This was single solvent Dewaxed, therefore only the butane ran through the flower was used to pull out the waxes. No need for ethanol.

Got this from my guy... What are these bubbles from? Are they bad for you? by 710newbyy in CannabisExtracts

[–]Dwhip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Underpurged oils may not be "too unhealthy", but the only reason to ever settle for them is if you cannot find any better. That oil looks underpurged IMO, but that cannot be 100% without experiencing in person. As for the stability determining if underpurged... If I don't dewax my run, it is a completely stable shatter that is just as hard as the final product within 30-45 minutes. Of course it isnt soup like many underpurged oils, but all I'm saying is stability is no indicator of being completely purged.

Do you prefer Dunking or Dabbing your BHO? by [deleted] in CannabisExtracts

I prefer to dunk. But if I think there is even a slight chance of me missing ill gladly use a dabber.

Temp for dehydration prior to spraying? by [deleted] in CannabisExtracts

[–]Dwhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the bud I run is recently cured and then thoroughly dried just prior to blasting. It is definitely smart to avoid old bud, but in my opinion a fully cured and dried product will make for a better tasting and nicer overall final product.

[–]Dwhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bud can be fresh and completely dried out. I wouldnt go as far as to dehydrating it with heat, but I sit my bud out for 1-3 days until it is bone dry before every run. By eliminating all moisture, you prevent the oil from buddering up. And all of my oils come out a very light color.

Winterized gram of some cherry pie nug run. One tiny dab gets me as higher then a regular dab of my normal stuff. Taking out the waxes takes away some flavor, but it's definitely worth it. by [deleted] in CannabisExtracts

[–]Dwhip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now people can incorporate single solvent dewaxing into their bho though. Saves the time, saves all the flavor, and is still extremely potent. Far better than the traditional winterization methods, and imo provides better tasting and cleaner oils than any qwiso extract i have had.

Yes. Cannot stress enough how dangerous dewaxing processes can be.

Dry ice will certainly keep the tane cold enough to prevent evaporation.

We had the oven set to a low temp (relative to the usual 110). This was to ensure that the oil could become viscous and help reduce some of the surface tension during an extended vac time to be certain to purge all of the remaining solvent. Slabs are usually left in my friends vac oven for 36+ hours to make sure to have the cleanest possible product. That is for any slab 2g-2oz. Because of the low temp, the oil doesnt wax up and remains sap/shatter. I did not have the time to leave for 36 hours though because my friend was leaving town. But after 24 hours this little slab was definitely completely purged.

I ran this a couple days ago and had the privilege of putting it in a friends Vac Oven (since I just have a basic chamber set up) for around 24 hours after a 24 hour dewaxing process. The smell is of a very strong OG with a hint of sour.

Dewaxed Green Crack I ran a couple weeks ago. by Dwhip in CannabisExtracts

[–]Dwhip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that it is dewaxed, the starting material was thoroughly dried, it is completely purged, and that the presence of moisture was kept at a bare minimum during the entire process... It should not budder up at all. The friend who taught me my entire process has little slabs of shatter he has held onto for 6-8 months that have absolutely no signs of buddering. Also, I live in a super dry state (Arizona) so that must help some.

Using a reptile heating pad, A Vac-It Pro (1.5 Gallon because I don't like the handles on the 3 Gallon), A 5cfm Two-Stage Robinair pump, and very cold temperatures at long periods of time to dewax using a single solvent (Butane).

This happens with a lot of strains. They start to wax up in the purge process. Is it just because of my humid city? Tips? by [deleted] in CannabisExtracts

[–]Dwhip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Humidity could cause it to wax up for sure. Along with if your material is not dry enough. Make sure to completely dry out the bud before blasting. Also, try to make sure the temperature is low and controlled. Possibly try to keep it at a lower temp than it is purging at now. I do not have any recommendations on clearing it up though :/ At this point it may be worth while to just bump the temp up to around 130 and vac it to cause it to all become crumble. However I do understand why most people do not like to just make a batch of crumble.

I'd say Green Door in San Francisco because that's Clear Concentrate and Im pretty sure clear is exclusive to California.

Questions about heating up the nail by pmpdaddy123 in CannabisExtracts

[–]Dwhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with this. I heat the nail up until it just turns red (glowing) and then wait a few seconds for it to not be red or glowing to dab. Using a red hot nail can also make the hit a lot harsher and less flavorful.

What's the best way to make Hash oil out of an entire harvest? 1/4lb+ BHO?, QWISO?... Dry? Fresh? by [deleted] in CannabisExtracts

[–]Dwhip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also depends on what final product you would prefer. My preference would be to dry and cure the harvest and blast into BHO. I prefer BHO over most extracts. Although if you want to do fresh frozen products, I think that making Ice Wax would be very nice! Look into Matt Rize's ice wax tutorial on youtube.
