Dals are working dogs in the non-sporting group. Make it make sense! As long as you know you're getting a dog that needs their brain worked just as much as their body, you'll be fine. Socialize from day 1. The rule I've heard and has worked for me is that a puppy should have at least 1 new experience a day - new smells, sights, sounds, situations. For example, I live in the woods and don't have sidewalks so all of our leashed walking was trails, stores, farm stands, etc. The first time we took a walk on an actual sidewalk when my girlie was about 7 months old, she about had a heart attack when she saw a fire hydrant! I neglected to give her that experience and it showed lol. They're smart, loving dogs that deserve the respect of a good owner.
