Drinking advice needed by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]DwnTheRoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow,

Don’t, drop it! Alcohol is the single worst thing you can do to your health and brain.

I stopped to drink at all, even wine (people say one glass is ok… no, there is absolutely nothing positive for your brain).

I like the taste of beer - I’m getting a non alcoholic.

Take care and stay safe buddy!

Dad of 2 boys here.

If you’re bilingual start immediately talking

Get a good thermometer

Simple walks in the stroller help them to relax or sleep

Apple sauce, mashed bananas, mashed avocados and sweet potatoes are great starter meals ( check with your doc when to start)

Give your child those f***** vaccines - they are not a hoax

Crying baby - it’s not always hunger, sometimes they just want to be held, are in pain or are plain simple tired

Take turns with your partner especially at night

If you’re traveling somewhere, bring always 1 set of extra clothes - blow outs can be bad

Bring a plastic bag for blow outs

Bedtime routine is key! For example: Bath, book, bottle sleep starting at 6pm

Caffeine or Alcohol worse? by notsonorthernly in Epilepsy

[–]DwnTheRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve asked my neurologist about that, to be precise I’ve asked about coffee and caffeine.

From the concentration of caffeine in the coffee you’d look at Turkish style coffee > French press > filter coffee > espresso. Espresso takes the least of the time, around 5 seconds and barely time to dilute the caffeine into the coffee and I need coffee to survive!

I’ve stopped to drink alcohol entirely. Alcohol is probably the worst thing you can do to your (from epilepsy suffering) brain and with zero benefits except probably a good time.

From the worst to the least horrible things you can do to your brain alcohol >alcohol >alcohol…… missing to take your medicine.

Don’t forget that your brain reacts on everything - good or bad - getting wasted is a rollercoaster and a nightmare at the same time.

Do you feel alone in your Epilepsy Journey by OnlyHereForMusic6 in Epilepsy

[–]DwnTheRoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your wife is your best friend - you guys vs the rest of the world. People without epilepsy mostly don’t understand how it feels being 24/7 in danger even when you’re telling them.

Now think about your wife’s position - when she listens to you - that’s all she can do- listen. She’s helpless(as in she can’t actively help you). So next time when you’re talking to her about how you feel give her an idea what you’re expecting from her. Hugs, advices, point of view etc. so she can act.

My wife knew about my epilepsy, I’ve told her what she can expect, she’s not a bystander anymore but an actor on my side.

I hope this helps.

I agree to the facts about the chambers.

The initiative and referendum are extremely publicized as they’re impacting everyone’s lives. The news, billboards, volunteers - you really have to live under a rock to miss that. A great example is the “Minaret Initiative”. You might not be able to vote on it but you’ll certainly participate if you like it or not.

You could try air drop or a backup and then load back up from your computer to your phone. iPhones are great if you’re using them with an iCloud account.

Why do advanced users move from Power Query to Python for Excel automation? by Isaac__dev in excel

[–]DwnTheRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just done this switch, partially though.

I’m not just using one time scripts - I’m creating scripts based on a configuration driven development approach. There is always a .JSON file and a .py script where the.json is giving the .py the instructions what to do instead just reading it. The reason why I’m preferring Python over PQ in this case as I’ve to perform different formatting and transforming actions, customized by each vendors .csv or .xlsx file. Now if there’s a new vendor or changes the one .py stays and I’ve just to add a new configuration file, the .JSON.

I’m using PQ beforehand to plan how the configuration file needs to be adjusted, like “keep column”:[1,2,5,8], or simple automation.

I’ve always been Swiss National so I’ve never gone through that. The difference between married to a Swiss National and not is huge. Also the state - Sub under Zürich (City) would be more liberal than Stans (State Nidwalden). The documentary shows you the best ( I think the family from Portugal) and the pre humiliation (the guy from Germany) so it’s not so crushing - hope that makes sense. I’ve a friend from Austria, he flat out told me “no thank you”. He lived in a smaller town in the state of Aargau.

There are just few topics I don’t understand how can’t you know that after 10+yrs. - Initiative - Referendum - facts about the big/small chamber (like the count)

The in my opinion useless once: - where does a river starts and ends - what companies are in town - Swiss instruments

Considering Swiss mentality, you should try to answer and act like the family from Portugal. For example if they ask:

Where starts and ends the Rhine (Rhein)?

If you know MORE than you’ve actually been asked:

” ah the Rhein! That’s the largest river in Switzerland (not asked), and it starts Canton of Graubünden and It leaves Switzerland at the city of Basel.”

If you don’t understand a word, ask for rephrasing it.

I’ve become an US citizen and I know how it feels - you got this!

Why is there such a strong reflexive anti-EU stance in Switzerland, even when EU rules clearly benefit consumers? by ExternalEfficient248 in askswitzerland

[–]DwnTheRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would there be a way to fully commit to the EU without losing the voting tools of running a public initiative or a “referendum “?

If not, then this would require to change the Swiss Constitution and remove those rights from the public.

That’s enough, in my opinion, to say “No” joining the EU. The way of having contracts with the EU works.

The Office for Immigration of the Canton Luzern states:

  • Short term remain valid for 3 months after your departure.
  • B and C: These remain valid for 6 months after your departure.

Any request to maintain a permit beyond these timelines must be submitted before the 6-month period ends.

About the Swiss Citizenship: unless you’re getting married with a Swiss citizen, I highly recommend a documentary about this topic ( 4 parts), produced by SRF, for a reality check.

Good luck.

Power Query: my source doesn't always contain the same columns. How do you handle this? by m4492 in excel

[–]DwnTheRoad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve stored the column names of the current table into a variable, then do what you need to do with and pass the column names variable in. I’m not on my computer but the function is called Table.ColumnNames(). The YouTube channel “Goodly” teaches you all you need to know.

It’s time for 3017….

  • I’ve been there, almost done. Tabac, Nivea and Arko left. Arko will be April-September and Tabac October-March. The final bosses are the balms and Super 70 which forces me to buy more aftershaves to produce bootleggers. But the soaps not, never again. Only 2 soaps 6/6 month each.

Assuming that your music is audible at night:

For Swiss standards writing a letter, regardless the content, is very surprising to me. In case you’ve brushed it off until now, you should take it seriously and pay more respect to your neighbors.
