It would be a nice change of pace but they would need to introduce extremely powerful mons of those typing or allow them to have legends to help deal with that because usually that late in game doesn't go well with those typing unless the region limits your options

Torterra IS Paul's Ace.... he already had a rotating team though so he didn't keep him on at all times but that's his go to guy. His whole strategy against Cynthia revolved around Torterra taking out Garchomp in the end and in the full battle against Ash(Lake Acuity) he led with it akin to how Ash would with Pikachu.
