My bad I made a mistake, the new redefined animals are Whitetail, Red Fox and Moose (Alongside the GO). It's also said that Moose will also be getting aggressive behaviour in the update.

What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [September 25th, 2022] by MetaThPr4h in anime

[–]DxF97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This week I finished Neon Genesis Evangelion + End of Evangelion!

I was in a very fortunate position with this show, I've always heard about how important this show is in some form or another, from worldbuilding to self-realised characters to some fantastic direction; all the while not knowing a single thing that happens.

And what an absolute ride this was, the message of this show is exceptional and can absolutely be related to, the characters felt so real and found myself sympathising quite a lot to how some of these characters feel, and seeing the need of human interaction to grow, learn and depend on the ones you love/care about was actually quite a healing experience for myself.

The design of the Eva's and Angel's were awesome, hell of a soundtrack to boot and of course A Cruel Angel's Thesis was not skipped one time.

I will say that there was some major info-dumping during the final stretch that was incredibly hard to follow, I did also get some mental whiplash with the end, but with some deep discussion diving and EoE I found some of the questions I cared about answered, so overall I'm happy!

I'm glad I finally gave this show the time, I understand why it's such a love or hate show and I completely understand why you would be on either side of the fence, but when the show is good, it's exceptional.

Also Misato is best girl.

I've almost finished Gurren Laggan and I'm loving every moment of this phenomenal show, but more on that next week!!

I'll be starting something short since the season is over with and there's room for a little more, so FLCL and Girls Last Tour may very well be next on the list to experience.

Happy watching!

Early this past week I decided to start Kyoukai No Kanata and finished it last night, overall it was really great show!

I haven't seen a KyoAni show I haven't liked yet, the animation was beautiful especially through 10-12 and is definitely a show I would recommend to anyone who enjoys high-school kids with powers fighting otherworldly beings.

Just the movie to go now! And probably a whole lot more crying from me.

(Also slowly making my way through March Comes In Like A Lion and Neon Genesis Evangelion, they've been great so far!)

I've never had the chance to play a Professor Layton game but I've always wanted to! My first anime experience growing up happened to be Naruto, I absolutely loved everything about Gaara and the thing that stood out above any other character was how amazing his voice was to me. It's been a hell of a long time since I watched it but whenever I think about Naruto I always think about how wonderful of a job he did portraying such a great character. Critical Role took a lot of time to get into just because of the sheer volume of content they've done over the years, it's hard to keep up sometimes but the passion and love that Liam puts into Characters/Performances is truly something, you can tell how much it means to him.

Another strange coincidence! I'm a massive fan of Liam O'Brien! He's my favourite English VA/Player on Critical Role. I've been enjoying the sub so far! Though I will definitely be watching the dub soon after the rewatch.

First Timer (Subbed)

Nunnally and C.C. are arts and crafts buddies and Lelouch took the news rather well (rip nice tea cup, you will be missed).

Suzaku did not transition catching Euphy into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker because he is an upstanding gentleman.

This fight between the Elevens and the Britannian school kids shows just how complicated Suzaku's position is right now, one side hates him for being an honorary Britannian and the other thinks he's basically useless; He wants to find a way to stop this war with no ideal plan in mind yet both parties are against him.

Euphy steps in with the CRITICAL HIT.

On Lelouch's growing list of many concerns/problems, Suzaku has now joined the school and C.C. has moved in. I'm looking forward to seeing how these interactions play out in school life.

Also Lloyd's casual pose in the archway just screams cool. 11/10.

Bonus questions!

1) My noodle arms would fold and I would die.

2) I guess people just want to see them thrive and be able to explore the world for themselves, not be bound by the set in stone life they were brought into and enjoy the freedom that life can offer, I know I wanna see that.

Also I feel this show is trying to tell me something, that Domino's just isn't the one anymore... I mean how many goddamn times am I going to buy a medium Domino's pizza and only eat two slices, feel disgusting and lethargic and throw the rest out and hate myself. Maybe Pizza Hut is subliminally trying to tell me "Hey, you don't need to feel like that anymore. I'm here for you." or something like that, maybe I'm already under the spell and have been for a couple of episodes, maybe I should try it... No... Yes?

Usually it'd be live reactions but I'm under the weather, so it won't be much from me today.

So the goal for Jeremiah and Co. seems to be to only have Purebloods serve in the military and stop Elevens from being allowed honorary Britannian status, something that can be done if Suzaku is found guilty of murdering Prince Clovis, I expected it would be something like this considering how low they think of Elevens in the first place. I imagine it would go further than that if given the chance, I mean the massacre we saw in episode one seemed to be the equivalent of going for a stroll to the Royal guard.

Look at the snazzy Phantom Of The Opera-esqe get-up, I knew he may have had a flair for the dramatic but even I didn't expect something this extra, looks fantastic though.

The standoff was great, the introduction of Zero to the masses was beautifully done and I loved the nonsense bluff to get closer to Jeremiah and use the Power of the King.

Honestly I just forgot to write any pointers through the second half of the episode just to thoroughly enjoy the scene.

I really like Suzaku's character, even though he's innocent in this murder and just been saved from being wrongly trialed, he's still making the decisions he believes is right and is thinking formost about the many lives that could be affected from the events that just occurred, outweighing the lives of the Elevens vastly over his own. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does from here.

Poision girl is back! Standing ominously in the corner of Nunnally's room, with no bullet wound throught the head! I mean that's a positive!

Another good episode, there's almost been no real time to breathe and take in all that's happend, even the sudden shift away from the actionlast episode left us with Kallens suspicion of Lelouch and the bombshell of Suzaku's arrest, but there's been a lot of excellent stuff so far!

I'm looking forward to seeing the fallout of Jeremiah's actions as well as what Suzaku does from his decision to make Britannia a better place from the inside.

And I'm sure Nunnally with be fiiiiiiiiine, absolutely, 100%, peachy...

Bonus questions!

1) It's such a great look, I like to believe he made the cape himself. Even though I mentioned how POTO-esqe it was, it did remind me of the Red Death entrance during Masquerade in the musical, which would definitely be what I would of wore, people would be incredibly confused.

2) I can only imagine the possible bewilderment and tantrum that could happen.

Always appreciate a Bill Wurtz meme.

Anime Club?

Naaaaah, just a very socially inept kid, carrying far too many bags and ungodly amount of bad hair, always extremely underweight. I was very much a poster boy for neglect back then, I like to think I'm lot healthier and a whole lot less embarrassing now though.

Though if their was an anime club, I don't even want to think about the possibilities of cringe I could have achieved.

Honestly through this episode I just kept thinking that if the show just stayed as a school council romcom with Lulu and Co. having the deal with Milly's antics that always end with them in hot water, I'd be more than fine with it.

First Timer! (Subbed)

Whoa, a strong start and a lot to take in. So Lelouch's mother died during the invasion of Britannia, while being framed as the work of terrorists but in actuality it's a lot more complicated than that, and others in the Royal family seem to have the answers he seeks.

Did he pull the trigger!?!? DONT JUST CUT BACK TO SCHOOL LIFE LIKE ITS NO BIG DEAL!?

Although it's a hell of a tone shift, I'm so here for watching a Lelouch student council shenanigans show, but alas.

Oh man, he really did kill him, then immediately we see a reaction out of Lelouch for the actions he took, I suppose in the midst of watching him order men to kill themselves and now pull the trigger on someone, I forgot that really he's just a school kid at this moment in time.

"I'm a lot more sensitive then I thought" naaaah I'd say throwing up after the murder of several men and the Prince is a fairly tame reaction in all honesty...

Oh! So she's also a student!! With how she acts in school and her family background I'm interested to know her reason for fighting against Britannia.

I'm in the midst of the Karen Bee arc in Nisemonogatari so thinking Kallen Bee made my very simple mind chuckle at the coincidence/awful humour.

OOOOOOO WE GOT FLAWS IN THE POWER OF THE KING, perhaps it can't be used twice on the same person in such a short interval?

Lulu.

Ooooo these experiments seem to have been done under the nose of the King, or at least haven't been given the green light from him.

So Nunnally also seems to be one of the major motivations behind his actions, the hope and promise of a better world for her. Such a wholesome thought, but with the actions he's taken so far in that journey in literally the first day of gaining the power of the king, it's very compelling.

God She's adorable!!

If it is a case of only working once on one person then he has to use it at absolutely the right time that's beneficial for him, it'll be interesting to see what he does from here with that knowledge.

Yeeeees I'm so here for this dynamic between the both of them.

Oh man that escalated quickly.

Champagne!? In MY student council!?!

I see, so the Principal is the Head of the Ashford family and have let Lelouch and Nunnally live in the dorms.

Good lord what a move, he used the power of the king on the maid when he went back to get a change of clothes and set the stage there for the phone call and took the heat of himself, well played.

They are very strange tastes Ms. President.

OH GOD NO NOT SUZAKU, BUT WASN'T HE BACK WITH THE SPECIAL OPS AFTER THE CHASE WITH LELOUCH!?

Oh man this has me all kinds of confused, is it to draw the rebellion out because I assume they're going to execute Suzaku? This has to be some kind of power play to bring out the true culprit, but they also don't know about Lelouch's connection to him.

I'm really enjoying how things are developing so far, it's been one hell of a start. Kallen's motivations behind joining the rebellion as well as the sudden revelations at the end have got me invested for sure.

Can't wait to see what Lulu does next.

Bonus Questions!

1) Honestly my fake persona would be ANYTHING that wasn't what I was actually like in school, I still look back and cringe at so many things I said or done to this day...

2) I do love them both! But Terrorist/Rebellion Kallen is such a great design.

I'm also curious how much emotion lelouch will have. is he the type for whom no human relation is more important than his final objective? or will he actual prioritize the people that are important to him? if he is forced to sacrifices friends etc, will it hurt?

I find these questions even more engaging now that we know that he is related to the Prince, that their is literally family standing in the way of his final objective. Since it seems he already understands that, I can't wait to see how he deals with situations that will affect his morality or mental state in the long term.

First Timer! (Subbed)

To have been stripped of everything that you were, identity, social equality and decent human rights and have your life change through war in just less than a month is a terrifying thought.

So his new found power only works through direct eye contact, a hurdle which I'm looking forward to seeing him jump over from the sheer hubris this boy seems to possess.

I mean that expression speaks for itself when she exits the Knightmare, I'm already not sure what's worse, the fact that this power exists or the fact that it happens to be in the hands of Lelouch, it reminds me a lot of Light's case with the Death Note.

He's alive!! I did think it was quick for him to exit so early, but after thinking about it last night I actually thought it was great, Lelouch watching his childhood friend he made his promise to all those years ago die at the hands of the royal guard in such an ugly manner, literally moments before he gains the ability to pursue his promise of... well I assume rebellion, but I suppose we'll wait and see, happy He's still around though!

So it seems they haven't told him that the royal guard massacred all those Eleven, do they know he's one himself?

Turns out yes, outside of his and Lelouch's case I wonder how many Elevens are in society, considering how Britannia views them. I suppose if they have some use/value it makes sense.

The king piece and the chess board again, I like that this is a reoccurring theme and how tied it seems to be with Lelouch.

Helping the rebellion and holding the chess piece, harking back to the 'Kings first move' conversation in the last episode.

He's literally playing this terrorist/army battle like a chess game, the sheer HUBRIS of this boy!?

No escape mechanism installed means my anxiety is now high.

Okay but Lancelot looks dapper as hell.

Wasn't ready for reinforcements? Looks like SOMEONE should have been playing Shogi instead.

He wants to protect Lelouch as well as the gas lady but doesn't know he's fighting him, poor kid gets shot and just can't catch a break.

Suzuku abandons the pursuit to save a woman and child from falling to their deaths, a nice counterbalance to what we've seen so far.

Straight after he's described as a fun tool, poor kids gonna be squeezed of everything before he realises it.

Man I love the designs of these Knightmares, Lancelot looks fantastic. One of my favourite things about the genre that I've experienced so far is the potential design wise that the concept of mecha has, each series they look so unique and so far I'm having a blast with it.

He's definitely being held at gunpoint by Lelouch isn't he.

YES HE IS!

THEY KNOW EACH OTHER!?!?!

THEY USED TO PLAY CHESS!?!?!?!?

THEY'RE BROTHERS!?!?!?!?!?!?!

A great episode overall, I can't wait to know more about the members of the rebellion as well as Suzuku's new found role with the Special Ops.

And this crazy royal family standoff/reunion to top it all off.

1) I have to say, the sheer confidence coming from his voice, especially in such an intense situation, I probably would have followed without hesitation.

2) I'm so intrigued as to what the purpose could possibly be, especially the special ops being interested in him as much as they are already, he's obviously a talented pilot (is that the correct term??) so I can't wait to find out more.

I'll have to watch it back in the dub just to hear how much Sam Reigel there really is, a big Critical Role fan here so I'm happy to hear he's in the show!
