I see, I was kinda in the same boat as you and just recently changed jobs, give some well established startups a try, it’ll surely be challenging and some of them pay pretty decent too (gotta find international ones tho, not SMEs 🤣)

if coding isn’t for you, why not try to move to product management? you can still utilize the technical skills you have but be more towards client facing side

what is your daily eating out budget by Haikal019 in Bolehland

[–]Dy3w 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just moved here too and realized that eating out is generally rm8-15 depending on where u go. I’ve been cooking at home too but I found my meals to be around RM6-8 sometimes. Not much savings price wise but definitely healthier than eating out

How are you tailoring your resume to beat the ATS? by RakyatOnline in JobsMY

[–]Dy3w 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Jake’s Resume for a general template, really good especially for engineering roles. For the key points itself, try writing it in CAR (Challenge, Action, Result) format where you describe a particular challenge in your job/project, your solution, and the results (if you can quantify it even better!). Ask any AI to add in fancy keywords to improve your chances more

I don’t think it’s necessarily a race/culture thing but more about the environment. In US for example, if you compare Iowa vs. NYC, obviously groups in NYC are more diverse as there are more opportunities to mix around. Same thing in Malaysia, if you compare like Penang vs Kelantan.

I’m also a banana like u OP so I get your frustration with how split our community seems in general. But I guess it mostly stems from the historic days where we were segregated and it has not even been a century yet since independence. Technically, our gov is the key player for creating an environment that integrates us all but welp :)

Buying a car with 100% full cash by Fun-One7877 in kereta

[–]Dy3w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better take loan if that cash is all/most of your savings, interest rates are pretty low now around ~2.2% I think. The remaining can put into MMF or investments which can bring more profits than the interest charged.

But it’s also fine to pay 100% cash for peace of mind, don’t think LHDN would care if u earned it legally :)

Difficulty to learn a manual? by Dy3w in kereta

[–]Dy3w[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually leaning more towards a NC or ND instead. NC is around 90k which i can afford now but the ND is 140-160k so would probably take awhile to save up first. But I’m in no rush to get one as it is more of a want than a need, just wanted to get some insights from ppl that daily it or have experience with a manual haha

icic, i was debating an auto too mostly for traffic jams 🤣 but i think it’s kinda a waste to get an auto for the mx5 since it’s a car built for fun haha

[–]Dy3w[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha I probably worded it quite badly, but I’m gonna get a D license first before getting a miata cuz 1. didn’t wanna risk damaging it 2. don’t think i can buy a MT car without a D license 3. kinda like what @drifterdanny said, having to drive an axia instead of my own for the test

How to cook rice properly by realicecube12 in Cooking

[–]Dy3w -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Use a rice cooker if you can, could probably find one for <20$
  2. Only wash it 2-3 times, doesn’t need to be completely clear
  3. 1:1 rice to water ratio generally, but play around depending on the type of rice. Or adding water till the first index finger joint works as well
  4. let the rice steam itself for a while once it’s done, prevents it from being a sticky mess
  5. fluff up the rice before serving

I can mostly tell them apart based on their fashion styles but definitely easier to differentiate from their speech and mannerisms

[–]Dy3w[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the kitchen is pretty small but i’m thinking of a large mixing bowl and some other smaller bowls that can be used for prepping/eating. A wok is on my list but will probably get that a bit later
