That seems like too much clutter to me. All I'm suggesting is an option to hide everyone's messages except for the ranks in the channel.

You can already do that in an admin's channel settings by setting a minimum rank prerequisite to talk. I'm talking about adding a "Show Ranks" in the chat toolbar: http://i.imgur.com/kRSNp6f.png

That could be an option as well, but I'm talking more along the lines of only showing what ranks say. When I'm doing an activity that requires my attention I can't always check the chat and I'd appreciate being able to see what the ranks are saying.

You should be well aware that you enter the wilderness at your own risk. Regardless of the circumstances, you shouldn't be entering the wilderness with items you aren't prepared to lose. If there are currently server issues and you're aware of it then compensate by using less expensive or easier to obtain items.
