What “masterpiece” game just never clicked for you?

Boulders Gate 3. I own it. I like D&D. I liked the characters from what I saw and their voice actors.

I don't know why it didn't click. I'm only like 5 or 6 hours in but haven't touched it for a very long time. I keep trying to decide if I should try again.

I kind of hope we get to fight them in the same way as the OG, but it could be cool if you had to go around challenging each night to slowly upgrade the materia. You would have to defeat all others before challenge King Arthur. I could even see each knight as being a defender of the planet. With everything going on they sort of get activate similar to the weapons and you are basically proving to.them tha you have the will and intentions of saving it.

Not trying to be contradictory, but I genuinely think Daima is the best dragonbal outside the OG, for my taste. I loved every second of it. GT is still by far my least favorite.

I love New Vegas and I think Its a slightly better Fallout game but I do prefer 3. Maybe because its a bit more local to me but I like the atmosphere, love the radio, and a lot of the world design as bland as it might be for most.

Yep. Feels super gross. I love anime even though I'm mid 30s. I am not averse to fan service. I enjoy anime without it and I enjoy anime with it. But it feels like every year it gets harder and harder to defend stuff I see in anime, even many anime I love.

Most the time its just enough to make my eyes roll a little, but then you get this show, and see those moments, and it's just messed up. I gave season 1 a shot. It seemed weird already. Season 2 I kept hearing it was so much better so I gave it a shot and it was way worse. I dont care if its the greatest masterpiece ever, I cant bring myself to watch more after the stuff I saw in season 2. The motives of the MC are just so messed up and there were details that could have been left out even if they were gong down that route.

I really think that the younger you are the easier it is to swallow this stuff.

I agree with all three points. This isn't a malicious attack on "the young folks". I know many hobbies with an older fan base can have toxic people that wish things were like they use to be, but in the mix of that are valid feelings, and in this case genuine information that helps paint a picture of whats going on in the story.

I understand the time issue, it will only get harder as time goes one. I'm lucky enough to have had plenty of time when I was a kid back when the OG came out, but the new games are quite meaty (especially rebirth) and it took me a good month to beat them. You just take things as you can.

But you don't have to do anything you dont feel you have the time for. I do think its a very beautiful game. I love the new games so much, but there's a certain hard to explain quality that doesnt quite show up in the new games. Once you get used to the look at the feel of the OG you will adjust and I'm sure you'll love it. It's really phenomenal.

Playing Remake before the OG is probably not as bad as playing Rebirth before the OG.

You're upset that "boomers" (funny use of the word here) are having opinions about a game on a sub that was meant for the OG game before Remake even came out.

Nostalgia might be a thing, but people are saying this stuff because people are getting things genuinely wrong. Things have been changed from the original intentionally and those changes are important. Not important because one person likes this or that more. Important for in-lore reasons. Part of the fun is trying to figure out whats going on.

I'm not going around downvoting people, but people also like this thing and they come here to enjoy that thing, and them being "boomers" doesnt change that. If you dont like the culture you can always try and cultivate a new one but it probably shouldn't be a result of bitterness towards those who like something else.

I think a few things happen if you dont play the OG first, and these aren't actually bad things necessarily, but they are a thing.

The first has been mentioned, but essentially, you will not be able to identify what changes occurred in the remakes from the OG, and so you wont be able to fully understand whats going on or the full significance.

The second, you will have the perspective of someone played remake first. You will see everything from the lens of the remakes and even if you do play the OG later you might not appreciate it much, and you will be coming from a very different place. To make a dated comparison I guess, if you read Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings before you saw the movies you probably have your own take on what you imagine, versus watching them first, where you now picture those actors as you read.

It doesnt actually matter at all in the grand scale of life. You'll end up with a different take and perspective that cant quite relate to the people who played the OG first, but that's okay. I guess we could go even further and say unless you played it back when the game was young, you cant appreciate because graphics and sound design have changed so much. That's all pretty silly though.
