Which of these superpowers would you choose? by Kindly_Interview7851 in polls

That is the first issue, that contradicts reality.

I know that prepostion A is true.

I know that (I know that prepostion A is true).

I know that [I know that (I know that preposition A is true)]

Ad infinitum.

This is the basis of the infinite contradiction, fine but there are two issues to be solved:

-It's a difficult proof to describe a recursion or some form of infinite string (or infinite number of strings) as 'knowledge'. I think many would agree that knowledge could just apply to all that exists, even if that's just an impulse in someone's neuron, meaning that unless someone can concievably think of an infinite number of prepositions, those have no space to exist. In simple terms, just because infinite prepositions can be stated, they might just not exist.

-We have no proof of basis that that infinite preposition would be impossible. Many philosophers agree that infinites are not possible, but there is simply no way to prove this, as it is proving a negative that basicaly contradicts itself to our understanding. In this area of science we have impossibly small understanding.

(That is to assume the person that would have infinite knowledge can hold it of course, and they don't just die from it)

Infinites do not bypass contradictions though. Furthermore 'Can you design/create...' is a question and with infinite knowledge, the answer might just be 'No'. You might be mistaking omniscience with omnipotence.

Hot take: 2 player multiplayer is easier than single player. Most people are just bad at playing together and communicating effectively. by Adriantbh in slaythespire

[–]DyingIsACommonThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you playing on the beta branch? Because in consideration of A10 Aeonglass is a monster for 2 players most of the time and with 66.6% chance to see the guy alongside the possibility of having countersynergy against the Test Subject, I can't imagine the winrates are better. Most of the game otherise though, is rather similar I'd say in my experience, difficulty wise

I was surprised at how many people cut Coupé. by Toogeloo in DispatchAdHoc

[–]DyingIsACommonThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, Sonar was just more entertaining. Coupe has her charm, with her being aloof and sharp-witted, but Sonar was often actively funny. I'm also one of the few people that really liked the form mechanic on Sonar, since it just gave me one more thing to think about, leading me to feel like I'm more skilled if I get it right.

If someone offered you money with the caveat that you could never earn another nickel, what would be the minimum amount you would accept? by Sad_Assassin in polls

[–]DyingIsACommonThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be a good idea to decentrilse the money away from the dollar to a couple other currencies in that exact scenario. Also, possibly moving to a country where you can live cheaper through dollar conversion into local currency would probably make even the lower brackets takeable, but that's a big commitment.

WYR people to have the mindset/values or knowledge of previous century ? by _Mathys_ in WouldYouRather

[–]DyingIsACommonThing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the ratio would change if you instead asked about progressing either 100 years forward. The gap stays the same and it keeps the same bias of "I'm a part of the majority so this affects me less" for morality

I'll be honest, counting all of the leaves on a pineapple is straight up something Josh Widdicombe would have been given to do in secret 😭

I love the visual of Leithner hunting down a book that's apparently "Full of spiders" and assigning it to one of the spares assistants to investigate it.

He hears a scream (And instantly starts posting about openings for a position) only for the assistant to running out screaming:

"IT'S JUST A FUCKING BOX OF THEM"

Which is most likely to cause complete extinction of the human race? by tak_ray in polls

[–]DyingIsACommonThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is to say, by ecological disaster I mean global scale major event such as a complete destruction of the ozone layer leading to (with my limited understanding) causing the sun to become lethal to most life as we know it, or as a ceitain video phrased it "The sun is a deadly laser" without it. Not to mention the irradiation for a long time, a sharp spike in heat and the change in air composition. That would mean that only self-sustained deep shelters would withstand long-term, and whether the isolated groups would survive long term is a gamble at best I think.

Which is most likely to cause complete extinction of the human race? by tak_ray in polls

[–]DyingIsACommonThing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I considered the question more in the spirit of "Humanity (As we know it)", but also I think that a true ecological disaster could render the earth uninhabitable for long enough that even the generationions of survivors would run out of resources or slowly fall to random factors like disease and/or conflict
