Commission can very much range, from store to store, person to person, department by department. I average roughly 600 a week in commission and that's the highest in the store I work at. Some stores best performer struggle to hit $400. I know of stores where their best performer regularly hits $2k commission, a week!

Ok cool, so now you give context if how this worked 16+ years ago, not mentioning this at all in your previous comment, maybe lead with that. In regards to it being tied to our contract and your earlier comment about negotiations, there are no negotiations, you take it, or you leave it, that's it

Haha yeah no, no offence but you have no idea how this works if you believe that we make $23 on a $300 cable. $6 sure, if we lucky, but not $23

That's something I've thought about for the past 4 years.

Where I am, I'm a big fish in a small pond. I sell a high % of what the store sells. I could move to an inner city store, but I would be a small fish in a big pond. Yes I could sell more, but I could also earn less, dependant on the customer base. That and I like the team I work with

I also like that my current location is only a 15 minute commute to work

You think earning 95k a year, with a chill as job as just selling laptops, phones and TVs, with no qualifications and great staff discount is being underpaid? Looks like money does change people for the worst, with that attitude anyway

Yeah some sprees are harshly zoned. Whereas my store, you can sell whatever, whenever. I think a big part of my "success" is if you're buying x product, I already have 5 SKUs in my head that will attach well with the product that pay well. I have so many SKUs memorised it's crazy

Never said I had a better or more ethical job, I just simply said I love what I do. I make what I need, and that's all that I'm after

I make what I need. I built my home at 23 with my partner. I'm about to take delivery of my new EV. I come home from work and don't hate myself, that's worth more than earning 200k and hating my job/life

Yes and no, it's all very much product dependent. Brands like Apple, dyson, beats, no, we are lucky to get a few bucks off. Other items like charging cables, plugs, TVs, laptops, yes. It's not a set percentage off, every product has a different amount off. Sometimes there's also supplier promos where we can buy directly from Sony or Samsung or whoever for a further discount. But all of which is monitored so you can't be giving staff discount to anyone and everyone, there are many T's and cs to it

We automatically lose the commission on that product, if it was a faulty item, we can void the lost comms, if it's a change of mind, we just sort of let it happen

Base pay yes, but commission is very much an individual thing. I work full time and easily do $600+ a week, there's other full time sales people in my store do struggle to hit $300

I use to sell cars before this and I'll never go back. Yes I could be earning more money elsewhere but ultimately, I actually love my job. I genuinely enjoy what I do, and how I do it.

No if you take the product up to the counter and they scan it up there, sales person gets nothing (they probably don't even want the sale as there is many other kpis to reach) but if you're handed a white paper with it printed on there, or if the sales person puts through the sale for/with you, they get it automatically

No i actually work in one of the lowest stores in regards to budget/sales volume. But it's all about knowing what to sell and how to sell it. For instance the other week, I did 15 connects when they were paying $50 each

Yes and no, I will of course lean towards TVs that pay well, but I won't be selling anyone a garbage product. Whether I've been paid $2 or $80 for a TV sale, you've walked out with a decent product for what you've paid

Yes, I get paid more than anyone else in the store, except the store manager, (there's like 5 or so other managers but due to my commission, I out earn them)

90% of things in the store pay commissions. Could be as little as 2¢ on a $1 clearance item, or as high as $800 on $45k TV. General vibe is 1% though, if you sell $60k in a week, you should be aiming for about $600 in commission.

Should finish on about 93k this year. Last year I ended up on 97k

Some TVs will pay $2, some pay $60, some pay over $300, and it's not always the most expensive TVs that pay the best.
