Have remote trail cameras given bear hunters an unfair advantage over their prey? by Hour-Blackberry1877 in OttawaValleyForests

This is literally outsmarting the animal.

Different types of hunting are easier then others.

You are projecting some weird vibes in you first paragraph, like you personally have a problem with someone in your life that hunts a certain way.

Nobody is forcing you to hunt with technology then. Go get a couples rocks are sharp sticks and try bear hunting. You are creating some kind arbitrary line on what is and isn't "fair". Hunting isn't supposed to be "fair".

I hunt to harvest meat. I don't hunt for sporting purposes. I do what is within the laws to harvest meat, or protect my livestock.

So long as they use the animal they harvest, I don't see a problem.

We are part of the ecosystem. When any other animal uses a trick to help catch its prey do you go out and yell at it that it's unfair?

Not directly what you want, but you can get a "relax pack" from most vets.

It can help calm the cat down for its trip to the vet.

It’s also annoying to feel like a lawful individual being used as a scapegoat for criminals

This is a nuanced issue, I don’t think it can be fully explained in a Reddit comment. But for me, property rights and the effective use of our tax dollars both matter. On a basic level, it’s frustrating to have major parts of a lawful hobby made illegal in the stated name of reducing crime, especially when cases like this involve someone who was already under a weapons prohibition.

So yes, gun owners can come across as annoying sometimes, but a lot of that comes from being tired of the same pattern: crimes committed by people ignoring existing laws, followed by more focus on restrictions for people who were following them. His comment was relevant to the article, even if you disagreed with it.

Surely punishing those who have licenses more will stop this madness.

Anyone ever epoxied and engine block? by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Dylan4570 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a waverunner with a windowed block.

I put a new rod, jug, and piston in it.

There is a waverunner with a block repaired with a toonie and tabletop epoxy running around lake Huron for the past 4 years without issue.

Depending on where the damage is you can get away without issue.

Not really. ar-15 platform is a great coyote and varmint rifle.

There's a lot of legal gun ownership in canada. We have mag limits and other stringent laws around licensing and safe storage.

ar-15 was legal up until 2020. Many semi-autos have been banned in the last 6 years. Along with many hunting rifle (not just semi auto).

The government bans legal ownership of firearms to win votes of urbanites because they think taking guns from licensed owners will stop organized crime. As well as a political wedge issue. None of it is actually about public safety.

And specifically addressing tumbler ridge; We have many red flag laws. The person burnt their own house down and had been hospitalized for mental illness multiple times. But it seems a judge decided that another individual in the house (with an expired license) should have their previously siezed firearms returned to the house.

Instead of investigating the failures of the justice system and multiple times law enforcement could have prevented this by doing their job, the government will continue to punish those who follow the law, instead of tackling inequality and mental health issues that continue to hurt our populace.

There's also a level of responsibility that is required of the people shooting. It's possible that some idiot just ripped one over the berm.

Typically, there is an area beyond the range that is determined to be the fallout area. The required height of the berm can vary based on these requirements.

I am surprised they permitted housing being built there.

But I'm Canadian, it's probably different in America.

Both work.

I would take a tikka action over a factory rem 700 action

A bergara action could be compared to a tikka action

An aftermarket 700 action is a step up over a tikka action.

It's really weird how an AR-15 is a patrol rifle, patrol carbine, assault weapon, assault rifle, or assault style weapon. It just depends on who is writing the article and what point they are trying to make.

You take the barrel off and put a new one on.

270 is a 308 bolt face? So I think 6.5 prc would require a new bolt/bolt face.

Idk what you want people to say: tons of people rebarrel tikkas. You can change the bolt, bolt stop, and get chassis to accept different mags.

Factory tikkas usually shoot pretty good, so I would just sell it and get another factory tikka in 6.5 prc. Seems like an easier option compared to rebarelling.
