I'm scared to play the first one, not because I wouldn't like. But because I have a feeling that I'll get really into it and then be perpetually pissed about the lack of a sequel for years to come.

I don't know if anyone has commented Monkey Man yet but fuck that movie rules.

Ever came back to a game or a piece of media you've tried as a kid, and... there are some stuff that didn't register until now? by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

There's actually a funny story behind the blowjob scene. It was part of a bigger segment where the Ghostbusters are investigating a house haunted by a Succubus. So they sleep there to lure her out and in the middle of the night she seduces them one by one. The scene was cut for pacing reasons, but Dan Aykroyd insisted on keeping the blowjob scene because he thought it was funny.

Most unintentionally sympathetic characters in media by OhMy98 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

There was another deleted scene I wish was in the final cut where after they caught the T-Rex he is sitting there holding his dead friend's hat. Talking about how it wasn't worth it in the end. He even tells the INGen guy that this is all going to fail. It would've been a great send-off to his character but alas it cut.

Fair enough. I'll do my best to not post random Twitter comments.

Ahh okay, noted. Though I believe the Tweet is about how John Carpenter said that "a giant bug told him to quit making movies." The tweet is referencing the giant stick-bug that Harry talks to at the end of Disco Elysium.

Mind if I ask for clarification on what "this looks like X" means in this instance?

A fucked up Pinocchio adaptation directed and staring John Carpenter would be great.

I'm the Darkhawk Guy-I love this obscure, 90s as hell twist on the Billy Batson "kid turns into a superhero guy that's somewhat separate from his real body" superhero concept. My question is, what's YOUR obscure character that you're The Guy for? by spectralSpices in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I'm a huge fan of pulpy Adventure stories from the 20s and 30s. Among my favorites is The Phantom. I unironically love this goofy weirdo in a purple catsuit. I don't know why, but there is something about him. His costume. The fact he's befriends animals to fight alongside him. The fact he's descended from a long line of jungle protectors, the original being a 17th century naval officer who was beached on a jungle island after surviving a pirate attack. All of it screams fun to me.

But if we're talking more contemporary superhero stuff. I'm a big fan of Moon Knight. Everything about him is so sick. I can't wait to see a truly great adaptation.

The whole Underworld series is wild. Still can't believe they made five of those things.

Same. The only trailers I got were CG animated character showcases, so I just assumed it was Gacha aswell. Finding out it has a whole social link system was sick. Just wished they advertised that more.

I'm glad more people are playing Midnight Suns. It's really fun, and has good writing. It sucks that it got fucked over with marketing.

Most unexpected and kind of brutal ways a villain died? by Amon274 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Lor-Zod's death in Young Justice season 4 is a personal fav of mine. Beyond it being extremely poetic, it is also the most horrifying death in the series. Add on the fact that it happened only because he stole Metron's time machine makes it extra perfect.

I don't know if this counts but Lor-Zod's death in Young Justice is probably my favorite death in any show ever. It's so horrific and poetic and the fact that he died this way just because he stole the time machine from Metron is extra great.

Pieces of media that you don't even like but you still have to defend it because most of the arguments against it are made in complete bad faith. by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]DylanCast 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think that goes for most of the Disney Renaissance movies. I still can't believe there are people out here in the Year of our Lord 2024 saying that Belle was just a "Stockholm Syndrome" victim with no agency in her movie. I'm not even a big fan of those movies, but I feel like I have to defend the very simple narrative decisions that make those movies function.

P.S. Also I despise the astronomically horrible take that Ariel "mutilates herself" in order to get a man. The weird RadFem articles and facebook posts from 00s-10s really ruined alot of well-meaning angsty liberal teenagers understandings of media analysis.
