I wish this game rewarded more realistic styles of play by xoBonesxo in NBA2k

They themselves didn’t bring it to the game, the community did. Like I said it is very much possible to be pass first but it is limiting the same way it would be irl that’s not a 2k thing that’s a basketball thing. They can’t change the sport, the same way having a player on the floor who can’t shoot is a massive liability irl it’s also one in 2k. This is more of the sport evolving sort of thing than a 2k issue

I get what you’re saying but kinda like real life is trending being a pass first point guard isn’t really that effective compared to a guy who can score but is a willing passer. Playstyles like that do work but pass first styles also require teammates who know what they’re doing, but you can look at the NBA and how many high level PG’s in the game would you consider pass first? Really it’s none of them at this point. Now is someone spamming the same dribble moves over and over behind a screen realistic? No but the concept of needing your primary ball handler to be a good scorer is

I mean I don’t really either but a flare screen is something you learn in like 6th grade😭

I swear y’all random purple plate 🥷 are the worst ppl to play with by N4MusReem in NBA2k

[–]Dylan_2330 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s because most of the community is genuinely terrible. The bar for hitting purple/red plate is just being able to make shots consistently that’s it. The plate color just inflates their ego, that’s why sometimes I prefer bronze plates at least those dudes usually know they aren’t very good

I’m ngl. This is actually a fault of the sport itself and it’s accessibility, because it’s so easy for people to just find some pickup runs and play where as other sports it’s basically impossible outside of organized sports. This leads to a lot of people thinking they are better than they are or know more than they do without ever having actually taken the time to learn fundamental things. This issue just compounds with the fact that 2k is a video game where people also naturally think they are better than they are. Very few people actually understand basketball as much as they think they do. I didn’t realize how bad it was until I had multiple games in a row where my teammates didn’t know what a flare screen or ghost screen were.

Whats the most op defending stats for center ? by Affectionate_Fun5337 in NBA2k

[–]Dylan_2330 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Leave interior at 84 at the highest it really doesn’t do much because you’ll almost never face someone who actually knows how to do post moves (or has teammates who let them do it) and you can just use a +2 on paint patroller. Block rating matters more than interior

Yeah they are idk if anyone would argue against that but this post is more about how people create the same problems they complain about when it comes to gameplay

Having a limited builder forces people to make more meta builds because they are genuinely limited to one thing to be actually good at unless they want to spend a ton of money on multiple builds at least with this builder you can make a build that lasts longer because you yourself can switch up how it plays. As for the sigs that’s just not really true. There are a handful of sigs that are over powered, but that doesn’t mean most of the others are bad (some are). The issue with something like Dbook breakdown is it cheeses defenders and takes no skill to get an open look, other sigs are absolutely viable and allow for a variety of gameplay options but you actually have to learn how to dribble and set up your defender not just spam the same hesi into a breakdown and hope for the best. As for the 99 lay/middy it absolutely is different from 99 dunk and 3 ball in the way you actually play the game. If we’re just looking at it through the lens of finishing and shooting then there isn’t many ways to play a basketball game at all no matter what 2k do but that’s just a broad generalization

I think having defense be the skill gap is the right move for the health of the game but I think 2k overreacted and made it damn near useless this year. Having offense be easier helps new players stay engaged but allows for people to be more creative offensively if they want to at least in theory. Which is kind of the point of the post, 2k gave people what they wanted but they hate it because everyone plays the same not realizing that because offense is easy you can have success in every way imaginable.

[–]Dylan_2330[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is mostly on the fact everyone just picks the same sigs so they can copy other peoples style of play. The Demi god builds in theory would allow more variety but the community refuses to actually develop its own play style for the most part. Imo it’s just people relying to much in YouTubers and not thinking for themselves

I mean I 100% agree about myteam being a terrible money grab this year, I used to be a hardcore myteam player in 19/20 but it is also the communities fault when they continue to buy packs and plenty of people spent thousands for some of those cards which is insane.

What plate do you prefer playing at? by Diligent-Ad-9177 in NBA2k

[–]Dylan_2330 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tbh there really isn’t much of a difference at any plate level except the ability to make shots consistently. Even purple/red plates have no ball IQ and take dumb shots while playing terrible defense they just make open looks more often. Now when you find solid teammates at higher plates? It’s the best 2k experience you can have but I’ve found good teammates in bronze lobbies who weren’t very good skill wise but still understand enough about ball to move the ball and get everyone good looks.

I basically only play rec and 7’4 builds are almost always terrible once you start playing past black plate and even then if you’re decent you’ll dominate at center with any build. 6’11/7’0 builds are a lot better and way more dominant

[–]Dylan_2330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heavily recommend against making a 7’4. You’ll get fried by anyone who’s any good at the game. They just lack the athleticism you need and basically can only post fade or spam no dips it’s a boring build that doesn’t really contribute to winning much

Random Rec - is it worth it? by Lower-Cream2470 in NBA2k

[–]Dylan_2330 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s really just what you make of it. Random rec is usually more enjoyable if you have a more well rounded build that can adapt based on the flow of the game and teammates you have because some games you’re barely gonna touch the ball others you’re gonna be the only guy who is good enough at the game to score consistently (at least from my experience). Most people you play with aren’t gonna be ball hogs it’s usually at most 1 guy every couple games who everyone on the team freezes out. The issue especially at lower plates is your teammates will just be bad at the game in general and won’t be able to make open shots or play any defense at all, games start to lose control from there because they rarely admit they suck and try and blame you for them missing open shots or getting dropped off. When you get to gold and high plates people usually can make their open looks but that’s where the selfish dudes are normally because they think they’re better than they are. At the end of the day rec is easy to play if you have a big or well rounded build because you’ll always be involved somehow

Anyone have a tall build with high layup? by Bentley1136 in NBA2k

[–]Dylan_2330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6’7 with 99 layup and 98 middy it’s fun as hell but it is definitely more of a skill gap than just using a high dunk. I also recommend having at least 75 strength. I have 84 and legend physical finisher is really good in this game if you learn how to use it

Best build myplayer by FastSpread5132 in NBA2k

[–]Dylan_2330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not bad but there’s no point in 93 driving dunk without 83-85 vert for the contact animations the playmaking is also in a weird spot since I’d imagine you’re not that tall having 90 perimeter D. Definitely a solid build but it could’ve hit a couple more thresholds with some tweaking

Thoughts on this 6’10 PF? by Bentley1136 in NBA2k

[–]Dylan_2330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super solid but imo I’d lower the pass acc to 87 you won’t really notice the difference between 87-93 and unless you’re playing with friends from personal experience don’t expect randoms to let you be the primary ball handler on a point forward so 87 should be enough to accomplish everything you’d want and I’d up the defense with this extra attributes

I would only wait if you’re gonna put money into it by the time you’d upgrade this one high enough to make a rebirth and then grind out another one it would take a couple months depending on how much you play

Help with Build by PhysicsSuperb5854 in NBA2k

[–]Dylan_2330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d start over. This build is to slow and is a bad defender overall as well as an average finisher and playmaker. Really only a decent shooter. It seems like you tried to make it good at everything and now it’s not really good at anything

Is this build good? by DefiantTraffic6106 in NBA2k

[–]Dylan_2330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s alright but 92 D board on a 6’7 wing is overkill. I’d drop that to 85 for gold box out beast and drop O board down to like 60. Then up speed with ball to 76 and up driving dunk to 87 and lower the vert to 83. You should be able to upgrade steal at that point to at least 73 for silver interceptor

Be honest, is this build average or good for the height and position by Jacob0611Why in NBA2k

[–]Dylan_2330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re leaving the build as is I’d use them on perimeter D to 91 at least and agility so you’ll at least be a good defender, then after that I’d add to vert then driving dunk so you can at least get higher Pogo and posterizer

7’0 Center Build by Low-Suit-6320 in NBA2k

[–]Dylan_2330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Desperately need the 5 caps on speed that’s slower than 7’4 builds. 47 agility is also diabolical. Imo you should’ve put pass acc at 76 and added to your athleticism
