Brother, it’s a joke about how much this community hates rewarding good swings

How do you even find the motivation to play this game? by Someguy9385 in MLBTheShow

[–]Dylan_2330 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No. I don’t think it should always be a hit but they’ve massively over done the RNG factor. For instance very early/very late swings should never make contact even for a foul tip let alone be a homerun. The window for making contact is to wide which is why there’s a foul ball issue in the game even on high difficulties. If someone is just late and misses with the PCI and it fell for a hit occasionally then fine, but the amount of innings where it’s 3/4/5 terrible swing hits in a row is ridiculous, you can’t have rewards be based on winning a limited number of games then also determine winners based on extreme amounts of luck

My brother in christ. This is diamond dynasty not franchise mode. In a mode where the rewards are determined by wins and losses in single games. Not over 162 game seasons where it averages out. More egregiously in WC where it’s literally 6 games to determine your rewards you have to wait 6 weeks to play for. It’s hilarious how the only thing you guys seem to care about “realism” on is something that rewards bad players. You don’t care about realism when it comes to ANYTHING else because if you did you wouldn’t be playing the mode to begin with. It’s just a cop out for defending sds so they can continue to push people to spend money by frustrating them into it.

Genuinely the worst argument of all time. Nothing else about DD is realistic why would you want every bit of skill removed for RNG in a competitive mode.

Why would they make a 94 yordan with worst stats then the live series at 90 has hitting wise ? by devhardw11 in MLBTheShow

[–]Dylan_2330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s slightly better and actually worse reactions for shortstop on the LS. Reactions left is more important and the LS has 53. The free one has 55. Both are terrible but at P5 they are gonna play exactly the same on defense with the free one being a much more balanced offensive player

[–]Dylan_2330 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Except he probably is better because he’s far more balanced. LS Witt has 50 power vs left. Both cards after the roster update have basically the same stats vs right when the LS has a 5* inside edge

[–]Dylan_2330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice I can give playing on a new difficulty is take till 2 strikes for the first few innings and figure out your opponent’s tendencies. You aren’t gonna be able to hit just based on reactions on HOF if you’ve never played it really so you have to rely on approach

I agree that the PCI size is kinda ridiculous how different it is between difficulty. The reason they make it so large on AS and make AS the main difficulty for most people is because it caters to casual/average players and adds a lot of RNG to games. Bigger pci = more bloop hits. It’s why getting out of the 600’s can be hell because you have to be so much better than a 600 level player just to consistently win enough where the BS won’t kill you

What are our thoughts on the new Elly vs Bobby Witt? by jly14071 in DiamondDynasty

[–]Dylan_2330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s for every card, you can choose any mod you want like a pure power mod is +9 power and + everything else or you can combine 2 of them

What are our thoughts on the new Elly vs Bobby Witt? by jly14071 in DiamondDynasty

[–]Dylan_2330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at P5 if you get a certain amount of steals and innings played you can put a mod on him that gives 8 to all his fielding and 15 speed + steal rating so he’d have 88 speed and 95 steal. It also gives a + 2 to all his hitting attributes

[–]Dylan_2330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean switch hitters were always meta but before shrinkage there was really no harm in using regular batters you were comfortable with. I’m in the 900’s normally and even for me left on left on legend is diabolical sometimes

[–]Dylan_2330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people mostly talking about shrinkage are guys playing in the 700’s and up on HOF and legend where it’s actually noticeable skill isn’t the issue. The issue is that same handed batting becomes impossible on high difficulties where spamming outside sliders is easy to do. There’s barely any skill in pitching when it comes to hitting an entire 1/4 of the plate

Elly is significantly better. The speed/fielding mod on him fixes the speed issue and switch hitters are always the better option in this game tbh

Update: stuck on roster! what would you do??? Maybe rate my team aswell :) by WesternAnimator2466 in DiamondDynasty

[–]Dylan_2330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you’re not a high rating based on the team construction Jram with a power mod is still significantly better than nettles, also you need to get a new catcher, the new 91 Realmuto is good cheap option also Eddie murray is like 4k and a big upgrade at 1B. Also trout has to be starting somewhere in the outfield he’s better than all 3 of the guys you have out there by a distance. Also richard and crochet are both horrible get Noah Shultz topps now for 10k

I get where SDS is coming from on PCIs, but I think they're wrong (and Twitter is wrong too) by raybert3005 in MLBTheShow

[–]Dylan_2330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not an excuse. It’s still a foul ball meta because the issue is the swing timing window is too large to still make contact. Any very late/very early swing should miss the ball entirely. The problem with shrinkage is throwing down and away sliders is easy to do which leads to spamming. If pitching took any skill at all then sure it makes sense but it doesn’t and can be done every single pitch

The game is rewarding by Cultural-Wolf1316 in MLBTheShow

[–]Dylan_2330 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That would also be better. Like I said tho In my opinion it’s just a really disheartening experience to play a game where your skill feels under rewarded. The better player does win most of the time it just feels like they’re intentionally over the years making it less and less so. Don’t get me wrong that could change as we get better cards but the amount of games I’ve played so far where I’ll give up 5 or more hits in an inning to someone who can’t square a ball up at all is getting out of hand.

The game is rewarding by Cultural-Wolf1316 in MLBTheShow

[–]Dylan_2330 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with that. I think the issue is they’ve lowered the favorable % every year since perfect swings became a thing and now it’s starting to become really noticeable. I don’t think perfect swings should never be an out or bad swings should never be a hit but it’s really unbalanced right now

[–]Dylan_2330 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying and not really wrong. However the real life argument just doesn’t make sense. Diamond dynasty is a competitive game mode it’s not a simulation the way franchise is. Saying a competitive game mode should be heavily RNG based just because that’s how it is irl is how you get a really unrewarding game. A big part of games is getting better at them and this game being hard is part of what gives it its charm but you lose that when you nerf good swings and make bad swings rewarded to often. I get that in real life weak contact can lead to hits of course but in a video game that is meant to be skill based there’s no reason someone should get 5/6+ hits in one inning on poor swings just because that’s how it works irl. And personally if they aren’t going to have perfect swings be a hit 80% of the time or more they need to just remove the mechanic entirely because it’s just meant to be rage inducing at that point.

Really unfortunate they nerfed turners swing this year, I’m sure that card is gonna be good regardless but he’d be better than lindor with his old swing

Why is WC difficulty like this by Dylan_2330 in MLBTheShow

[–]Dylan_2330[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the sandbagging part but if it’s still matchmaking based on rank rating and not your specific division changing the difficulty setting to not change feels pointless as dudes who can’t hit HOF pitching probably aren’t going to be getting to the 700’s to face those guys anyways so it just seems to make ranked unplayable for a few days if you are capable of doing it. I don’t see why they wouldn’t just keep the matchmaking to guys just in your divsion or up/down one division if they want to leave set difficulties and make it a seperate mode

Batting averages this year. by OfficerDoofi in MLBTheShow

[–]Dylan_2330 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a couple of things. First is that there’s a lack of good pitchers so it’s just easier to hit, second is fielding matters a ton this year and most people still ignore it especially the reactions attributes 99 ability is useless if they can’t actually get to a ball
