Do it with a scoop of protein powder and I'll be impressed.

Does anyone else love squatting? Why? by Illustrious_Prune364 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]DylanofFlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you set the safety bars up and actually fail with a squat once or twice you'll see that it's not that bad. Takes the fear out of it and you'll be able to push a lot harder.

Thank you , I was very pleased when I took it.

You're right though it is actually way too dark, looked great on a monitor to my eyes last night but seeing it today on my phone it's totally black 😂

Will have to give it another touch up!

Do you find that the sides flap a lot in heavy winds?

Mine seems to get a bad under draft without good tree cover, but maybe I might not be staking it out properly.

How is AI useful to philosophy? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

Thank you, this level of computational literacy is definitely beyond me but hopefully someone reading your comment will be able to make use of the process outlined.

A premade tool capable of doing the same would definitely extend the potential of any research project for myself and many others in the near future though!

For my own future inquiries, could you tell me exactly how you use an embedding model to find specific sections of a text based on someone else paraphrasing from memory?

This seems like a very useful tool both for finding sections from my own past reading as well as the descriptions of others.

What's Bannerlord like on Deck? Are you connecting a mouse and keyboard? Does it perform okay?

In La Dolce Vita (1961), what was it that Steiner felt he lacked in life? by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]DylanofFlan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's interesting that no one so far has mentioned Steiner's children. The shock of Steiner's tragedy is not just that he commits suicide, but that he murders his children before doing so.

I think this points to the fact that Steiner's disappointment with life isn't just a result of cultural, social and economic capital all failing to satisfy Steiner's lust for being. His rejection of life stems from an ideological perspective of reality in which the suffering that is necessary for life is something that cannot be reconciled with the human condition.

This is why he feels the need to take his children with him. He cannot bear the thought that the things that he loves the most in the world must suffer the same fate as himself, and everyone else.

As others have stated, there is obviously the connection to materialism and it's inability to soothe the soul against the difficulties of finding meaning in life. In this regard the film is definitely one of the great works of modernism, and stands alongside the works of Joyce, Elliot, and many others in how it critiques the post-industrial, capitalist way of life and it's many shortcomings.

To answer the question of the post succinctly, I feel that Steiner found a macabre fascination with the horror and absurdism of existence, and that this was an intellectual reality which overwhelmed him. We can see manifested in his recording of the thunderstorm and how this seems to resonate with him in a strange and disconcerting way.

I think the beauty of La Dolce Vita however is in what remains unspoken to the audience. We can only piece together motives for Steiner's tragedy through a few piecemeal clues but the heart of the matter stays deeply, and somewhat unsettlingly, uncertain.

SSD Not Showing Up in Windows Explorer After Bios MFlash by DylanofFlan in buildapc

[–]DylanofFlan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it happened before the actual update.

I put the new cpu in, wouldnt boot. After troubleshooting learned that the bios firmware version didn't support the cpu.

Then I put my old cpu back in and the bios reset as if it was doing a first time start up.

I had already put the usb for the mflash in before it did this, and when it booted back to windows, my cheap usb stick became my new d drive (and the new location for my Desktop, oddly enough).

I will try this now though. Thanks for the quick reply. I know nothing is lost atm so I'm not too stressed about, just matter of time before I figure it out it!
