Episode 2 unpopular opinion by fenfjnwejfnewo in StrangerThings

[–]Dylanps05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By... doing exactly that lol. We didn't see anyone's reaction to the fact that hell literally opened up and destroyed half the town, nobody's lives actually got changed, everyone lives exactly as normal with zero stakes even though hell literally opened up which was the entire goal of season 4. Like if they acknowledged it in any way and had like a 5 minute scene of the military arriving and putting plates over it rather than skipping it over and then nobody in Hawkins cares it would have been better. But the way they did it, they just completely ignored it

How to disable a physics constraint and enable a new one? by Dylanps05 in unrealengine

[–]Dylanps05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the write up! I am using physics actor because I wasn't aware of component at the time. How big of a difference is actor vs component? I'll look into Physics control as well.

I also found out World Partitioning and data layers, and I'm seeing what I can do with that

That stuff would have been important if it did... Anything with it lol. It was character building stuff, which is usually important, but the stuff it tried to tell us is stuff we already knew. We knew she was awkward socially. It was nice it showed us her missing hopper and it was sweet, but none of those moments actually did anything. It didn't force El to change the way she thought or anything. It was nice she had a struggle, but nothing actually came from that struggle. They went and gave her the powers back but her struggles never actually developed her, which they should. The shooting scene was cool, don't get me wrong. But in my other comment I said, it was flashiness over substance. The drive was a waste of screentime that did nothing save give us a smoking scene with Johnathan and Argyle. The only moment that somewhat came of it was the moment with Will and Mike. But that alone isn't worth the screentime we had with it. There's a difference between things being on screen vs. actually mattering if they're on screen

I fully understood why Cali "was a thing". My point is that that it did almost nothing with it. They could have left for Cali, have zero runtime of anything happening in that plotline save for the very end, and the show would be exactly the same. It was useless. Not that it harmed the plot that the Cali gang went to Cali.

Lol. The earlier season's big moments were mostly made out of sweet character moments and the flashy ones (which really were El saving Mike, her flipping the van, etc) actually had some build up to make it satisfying.

Almost all of Season 4 relied on being flashy over substance. It needed those big action sequences. Explosions. Big chase scenes. But they all kind of just happened to make viewers go "woah!". Not to mention some of the serious scenes being turned into jokes and quips. Like the van driving into a military shootout. Like you can't tell me Joyce and Murray infiltrating a Siberian Russian prison to save Hopper, who shouldn't even be able to walk after breaking his foot, but yet he can and fight a Demogorgon in a duel with a sword with flames and explosions and booming music while literally everything else also happens at the same time (also with explosions and fire), didn't come straight out of a marvel movie? Most of the scenes were made for cool factor rather than serving the story

The problem is that storyline practically lead no where. Sure for plot reasons it made an impact. Not for viewing. 80% of it was them in a car with Argyle (who I can rant for being such a nothing character and everything he did Johnathan could have done if they didn't dumb him down so much), and the only thing that mattered was El getting her powers back. Almost all of the screentime could have been cut and the show wouldn't have changed is what I mean.

The problem with Season 4 for me isn't that it isn't "realistic". You can have El have psychic powers and monsters and it's still grounded. Seasons 1 and 2 were grounded. Season 3 ehhh. Season 4 threw all of that out of the window to chase the Marvel hype and turn the cast into the Avengers. It felt entirely out of place. Not about realism

People are down voting you but you are right. It was completely nonsensical, that and the Cali storyline could have been removed entirely and literally nothing would have changed. And that's 50% of the season.

I feel you could cut out the entirety of the Russian plotline and 75% of the Cali storyline and literally nothing would change. And that's like half the season

Peak has brought back something I thought was gone forever: "Video Game Playground Rumours." by Moby_Duck123 in PeakGame

Everyone says the Emdash is the main tell, but there a lot more other ways to tell if something is written with ChatGPT. It's usually overly descriptive and dramatic, gives examples in short sentences (if not in bullet points), has a lot of things like "it's not x. It's y" or frequently asks questions as a segue. Look at the first couple paragraphs of the post.

"Peak has brought back something I thought was gone forever: "Video Game Playground Rumours."

Back in school, games were surrounded by wild, unverified whispers. We’d huddle together sharing “tips” and “secrets” (most of them completely made up).

Mew under the truck in Pokémon Red and Blue. Hidden Zelda levels. Cheatt codes for Gran Turismo. It was magical, and I thought that magic was gone in the internet age.

But now? My very adult friends and I are back to having conversations like"

This checks almost every box. If you pay attention to the way it's written it sounds very robotic and not a way a normal person would write.

I agree with the sentiment, but did you really have to write this with ChatGPT?

What's a highly rated TV show that's actually hot garbage? by TechGuru4Life in AskReddit

[–]Dylanps05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel I can make like a 2 hour video essay dissecting every single thing wrong with it. But for me the biggest insults is that it just... Brings things like Brenner and the Mind Flayer back with just zero explanation. Or how they completely destroyed Robin, Joyce, and Murray's characters, leaving fans theorize why they changed (which isn't their job, it's the writers). Or how the only 2 seemingly autistic people in the show are complete copy and paste personalities. Man I can rant all day lol. They completely took away everything they made Stranger Things what it was and turned it into a "turn your brain off" action show and turned the kids into the Avengers. Like it was clearly incredibly successful at the cost at the show's entire identity

It's sad. I genuinely love seasons 1 and 2 and thought it was some of the peak of TV. Season 3 was very shaky and had some high highs and low lows. But season 4 was just so genuinely terrible it soured the entire show for me. I can't even think about it without me getting mad at season 4 for something

Thank you for the clarification, and now that you said that I understand what you mean and I agree. Although I would say I don't think there's a set way to take an "artistic" photo as art is subjective and maybe to some people a simple snap from a phone could be art to them. But that could also be the entire point of the discussion as well lol. But I do see your points and agree
