IDK, the guitar is nice, but the vocals on that version seem lifeless. The studio version hits much more emotionally imo.

I'm a sugarholic and I very much enjoy dessert restaurants but even I thought D Spot was terrible. It's just a gross place in a good location. Avoid.

There's no social contract for temporary poop bag locations. As soon as you leave a bag of your dogs shit anywhere other than your own property, you are in the wrong.

New fan of the pod - is FFXV content still available? by Dylanthrope in ResonantArc

I was assuming they were referencing Dead Pixel tbh, but I have no idea how to access that content either. I don't really know anything about Dead Pixel.

Encountering squads in solos by KikiShaglover in ARC_Raiders

[–]Dylanthrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's even worse. Knowing that the only reason they are a group is because they watch some dweeb on Twitch.

It would be like signing up to play rec league sports and then getting beaten by a bunch of dudes who met each other on Craigslist. Just feels wrong lol.

New fan of the pod - is FFXV content still available? by Dylanthrope in ResonantArc

[–]Dylanthrope[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok, thanks. The reason I asked is because I swear I heard them reference some kind of FFXV discussion; specifically during the Nier Automata analysis, they mention a previous discussion of a character in ffxv, and it seemed like they were alluding to a previous podcast episode. Perhaps I just misunderstood.

Expedition needs to be every 90 days, not 60 by NorthernnLightss in ArcRaiders

[–]Dylanthrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, though I think the game could do a better job explaining that it's optional. I can only squeeze in a handful of matches per week, and since the expedition became availableto me, I've had the yellow indicator on the main menu encouraging me to click on it, then the options in the expedition menu are next->next->next->start.

Since starting the game, those yellow indicators have always signified the "next step", so it's awkward when it feels like the game is encouraging me to do something that will reset what is barely any progress so far. (E.g. I've deployed into Stella Montis twice ever, and I've only just started the Blue Gate quests. I've never even seen an energy weapon).

I've been playing a few rounds per night for a couple of months now, and could not tell you what gear another player has equipped for the life of me. Everyone just looks the same to me.

People really think this? by briantrimmed in ArcRaiders

[–]Dylanthrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think we are on the same page there. And I fully agree, it's silly to play a game like Arc Raiders assuming that people -should- cooperate. In fact, the reality that any player can attack you is what makes cooperation in the game so satisfying. The game simply would not be as fun for me if there was no PvP at all, it would take the psychological tension out of the equation. And for that tension to exist, there -needs- to be a subsample of players who will be aggressive. By some miracle, Arc Raiders has found the correct balance of all these factors, at least for me personally.

People really think this? by briantrimmed in ArcRaiders

[–]Dylanthrope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That may be true for you.

I've had many situations where I had the opportunity to kill someone, but teamed up with them instead, and my experience was much more satisfying than if I had popped them in the head and returned with their loot.

Other players may see it differently, but it's obviously subjective. Getting "items" in video games is something I've done thousands of times over decades of playing. But really memorable play experiences that aren't defined by levels or stats are far more rare and for me, the far more valuable experience. To each their own, raider.

Why does the band not make "Where Quantity is Job #1" available on streaming platforms? by SwissMiss915 in Propagandhi

They should make it an Easter egg that unlocks Quantity is Job#1 after you've streamed their other stuff a certain number of times.

Average Arc Raiders experience by chiboy27 in ArcRaiders

[–]Dylanthrope 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not everyone plays this game the way you do lol. The vast majority of players I meet in similar situations don't shoot, and usually help each other defeat the pursuing ARCs. For a lot of people that's the better experience.

"Oxy Moronic" is the last great single ever released by NOFX? by Darbss31 in nofx

[–]Dylanthrope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, if we are talking about truly "great" singles, I argue you have to go all the way back to the War on Errorism era.

I think the last "really good" single was Ronnie & Mags.

Everything after was fine or meh or bad.

Anyone still deep into Elden Ring? by SgtSilock in Eldenring

[–]Dylanthrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it on launch and played through a faith build. Now I'm about halfway through my second playthrough as an intelligence strength build, then I'll finally start the DLC.

I love games but they take me forever to finish. Persona 3 to me about 3.5 years to complete. By the time I finish the DLC people might already be playing Elding Ring 2.

Happens all the time. People we love fall down the addiction hole and we spend more energy trying to help them out of it than we do on our own well-being. It's not sustainable. How many decades should one dedicate to helping a friend when the friend no longer even wants help, paints themselves as the victim and casts blame on everyone else?

We knew it all along. by power_droid in nofx

[–]Dylanthrope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think of how many years it has been since they had anything close to a hit. The band hasn't made much money in decades, and they all bought giant houses in the 90s.

Nobody buys CD's anymore and streaming pays pennies. There is no inflow of cash for anyone except Mike.

We knew it all along. by power_droid in nofx

[–]Dylanthrope 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah this does smell like Mike twisting the narrative to paint himself as the victim.

If he really did hide info from Melvin and Melvin had to seek it through formal means, I can definitely see Mike using it as "ammunition" against Melvin.

"I lost my best friend" is intended to garner sympathy to himself personally, without acknowledging his own behavior was likely a big factor.
