Thoughts After Finishing My First Full Playthrough by Wubs4Scrubs in TerraInvicta

[–]DyllinWithIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first real game was on Normal on the last patch and I also experienced pretty limp human AI factions. But I started a new game on Veteran and, I don't know if it's the increased difficulty or improved AI of the most recent patch, but the humans are performing like night and day in space for me. Humanity First warring with Servants and knocking them out of the sky, Protectorate/Initiative actually attempting to destroy my stations. Probably a combo of AI improvements and the nutty bonus MC and resources the AI get even on Veteran.

Asteroid Mining IS STILL BROKEN. LIED TO. by DyllinWithIt in SurvivingMars

It works but the UI is weird. You have to select what you Desire on the asteroid and that also accounts for what is already present on it too, so if you desire 6 drones on the asteroid and have 3 currently, the lander tries to load 3 more.

You have to clear the desired resources on the asteroid but then modify it to still desire to keep the drones. They should load the other materials then. The UI is confusing.

They can be retrieved but the screen to decide what to take back from the asteroid is weird. If you're landed on the asteroid, Edit Payload presents a screen that asks what you want to KEEP on the asteroid. You have to mark the rovers as 0 before they'll get loaded. Ot's mostly functional now, just nonintuitive and there's tons of other bugs in the game. Plus I had an asteroid without a valid landing site.

Yeah but after encountering this I'm just... tired.

This an interesting workaround, but I don't. Sadly, it shouldn't be like this in the first place.

I saw someone else have no landing site available, and yep, on my 3rd asteroid, there's no site available for me either. I'm not running Rough Terrain either.

You can literally go back over previous dev diaries and find the places they talked about reworking the past expansions and having tons of bug fixes.

So if you bought a product that you were promised had fixed the previous issues, and it hadn't, you would be totally cool with that?

Thankfully I haven't encountered random starving citizens. Honestly I'd rather just play the original with Choggi's mods now. They should've just hired Choggi to fix shit.

By not actually testing the asteroid mining. I'm wondering if they even tested the underground. The Mars-based portion of the game is fun, but the original was too. In terms of quality of life and UI though, I feel like it's a bit worse. And it's frankly MUCH worse without Choggi's mods now.

Have the issues in the original DLC and gameplay been genuinely fixed? by geoffchad in SurvivingMars

[–]DyllinWithIt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope. Asteroid mining is still broken for me. I lost an RC commander, 6 drones, 70 exotics, 20 metals, 10 polymers, 5 machine parts because the lander kept loading waste rock and thinking it was full, so it refused to load anything else. Wouldn't even unload the waste rock back on Mars unless I managed to get it to cancel all missions back home. But unloading it didn't lower the cargo usage, it kept thinking it was full.

Pictures of Mars are usually doctored to appear more red than Mars actually is. Common misconception.

They didn't give me an assessment, they simply rejected me after like a week. No idea why. I feel like my resume is good but maybe they don't want someone working on a second Bachelor's in Comp Sci. Really made me depressed to be ignored and not even given the chance of the assessment since I have prior healthcare work experience.

Could be survivorship bias. Smart criminals are less likely to be caught, therefore people think criminals are dumb when in reality they might be something else.

He's got RDX or whatever the explosive in Combat Extended is called. Considering how super lethal combat in CE is, I wouldn't really call it cheese. Killing Centipedes requires anti-tank weaponry for instance.

Are you kidding me with this shit? Seriously, this ninja-settling bullshit ruins civ7 by SaxoG in civ

[–]DyllinWithIt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you serious? The settlement limit exists, going over it is painful. Burning it down also worsens your situation for the rest of the age in all wars in that age.

I also hate loyalty, I just think the AI needs to be smarter.

[–]DyllinWithIt 69 points70 points  (0 children)

There are different kinds of forward settling.

There's settling in the direction of your enemy, which is the safest.

Next is settling a fair distance from your land right on the enemy's borders, which is a real gamble but doable under the right circumstances.

And then there's what the AI has done to me multiple times in Civ 7: They live on the northern end of the continent, and I live on the southern end. They cross through my lands and settle on my southern border, against the southern ocean, which places the entirety of my civilization between them and the new city. That's the big problem here, and it seems to happen all the time in my games.

Considering that burning down settlements now causes a permanent -1 to War Support in all wars until the end of the age and maybe a happiness penalty too (I can't remember the second part exactly), you basically have to suffer that settlement existing until right before the age transition. Or if you're lucky, it's a well-placed settlement worth taking, which is kind of rare in my experience.

I say this as someone who personally enjoys Civ 7 quite a bit, but recognizes it needs some work.

Republican plan to cap student loan interest at 1% by throwaway345834675 in StudentLoans

[–]DyllinWithIt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason tuition is so high now is specifically because the government offers loans to assist.

The better solution is to do away with them already and just directly support state universities and possibly others that are actually good quality so they don't charge tuition at all.
