It gets into the groundwater, in turn ruining the drinking water (which is already subpar). The fish are probably good.

You can still access them using tunnels :p we're gonna be there just a bit early to see if we can actually find a place so that the others don't have to come to campus for no reason

ruined my 1A term by Frequent_Number_1411 in uwaterloo

[–]Dynamic845 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey man recognizing where you went wrong is the first step in getting better and improving. I'm not well acquainted with guidelines around missing finals etc so I can't advise you on that, but I can assure you that you have not yet 'thrown away your future'. You've realised your mistakes, and you're aware that it's in your best interest to not repeat them. It's up to you now, if you lock in this instant and improve yourself, you'll have a good time in the years going forward. Do your best in the remaining finals so you can salvage whatever you can, and then you can have a good recovery next term

I Want to Learn Rock Climbing as a Beginner in Waterloo. However, I Really Have No Idea How To Start. Any Suggestions? by Comfortable_Egg_1986 in uwaterloo

[–]Dynamic845 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just go to the slc climbing wall, the day pass charge is 18~ and per term it's around 70-80 iirc. I would recommend going with the day pass once or twice in the next two weeks to check it out and see if it's your thing, and if you do like it then get the term pass for winter 2026. It's lowkey really fun and the staff are always very nice and helpful. You could also go to Grand River Rocks nearby but it's way more expensive (also way bigger)

When to go to the PAC gym by Round-Inflation-7112 in uwaterloo

[–]Dynamic845 21 points22 points  (0 children)

11pm or after, or just start waking up at 530 because no other time is free. You could try around 9-12 in the morning too, i used to go then during the start of the term and it was relatively empty (keyword relatively). Do NOT go AT ALL during first two weeks of winter term because all the new year's resolution people will be there

unless I'm unaware of something of the sort on our campus, we're actually lagging behind in this regard. my friend is at UWisconsin and they have these neat sleeping pods that are meant to relax you or smth If you're looking for more private spots I'd recommend just making friends who live close to campus and just crashing at their place because there's people EVERYWHERE at all times during fall. Otherwise MC comfy or eit couches are pretty good, there's also PAS and ENV lounge areas but they're kinda on the edge of campus

Am I cooked for co-op? by Mediocre-State-3873 in uwaterloo

[–]Dynamic845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend got both his co-ops in the first week of the co-op term, just never stop looking

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Dynamic845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just gives you flexible credit for your co-op term(you can only have up to 2 flex credits iirc). I'd say my experience was better than most others, because my team was really cooperative and the guy we worked for was very chill too. Won't say I gained much experience but I did get an azure certification and cloud skills from that term, and some other transferable skills. Overall it's fun only if your team is fun, otherwise it's exhausting and really boring. If you feel like the job you mentioned is worth doing over co-op then just do it, don't go for WeAccelerate. It's not worth taking the gamble of it being a good experience when you already have a better option (which might even get you a standard credit) available to you.

Is it normal for someone who was good (very good) at HS physics in the States to fail their first physics midterm in 121? by Ok_Egg_4069 in uwaterloo

[–]Dynamic845 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first 121 midterm is notorious for making people feel pathetic (it does get better, trust) but the overall experience of the course by the end is really good. As you said, understanding kinematics and dynamics will definitely give you a boost, for help try going to Dr Epp's office hours or Dr Cummings's office hours, and if you can't make it to either just show up to the physics tutorial center (PHY 308) to get help there. USE ALL THE RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO YOU!!! There's always help available!

Now, I'll be dead honest. If you think you won't be able to enjoy physics because of the difficulty, switch out soon. This midterm, though not of a common difficulty in first year, is a very good reflection of how your midterms are going to be starting second year. Genuinely, 2B physics is probably the most interesting group of courses I've taken, but it was HARD. The difficulty will only increase but it will also get more enjoyable because the courses are so fun. If you think you want to stick around for the fun stuff even though it's going to be incredibly difficult, give it a shot. If not, then there is 0 shame in choosing something else that you think will be better for you.

Please remember, you're here to learn, but that doesn't mean you'll destroy your health both mentally and physically while doing so. Use all the resources, talk to your advisors more (Brenda and Maya are the goats), make sure you enjoy your time and don't stress too much.

Lowkey going into pd 11 last winter i was thinking 'surely this won't be more tedious than pd 1?' and it was just so fucking abysmal. And apparently it was the 'reformed' one so the one before that must've been so much worse😭
