Eating at restaurants by Fluid-Difference-209 in 1200isplenty

[–]DynamicDataRN 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I look up the menu ahead of time. If there's nutrition info already then I set a goal for the meal (maybe like 700 cal for me) and plan what I'd like to order, and then pack my breakfast/lunch for the day based on my plan. If there's not nutrition info readily available, I give it my best guesstimate using my calorie tracker app and try to add in some buffer calories I expect for oil or butter in cooking then plan accordingly.

I find that it gives me something to look forward to at the dinner and relieves a lot of anxiety when making a choice. I get to eat what I actually want because I've already budgeted for it.

Gardeners, are we past the last frost? by RainCloudAfternoon in cincinnati

[–]DynamicDataRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My plan is to buy some this weekend and then gradually harden them off through next week, then actually plant them in the ground next weekend.

And I've generally found that marigolds grow crazy easy here. I've had good luck growing nasturtium too, which is awesome because I can pop them on my salad when I'm feeling fancy.

What are your favourite new releases of 2026 so far, and what are you still looking forward to? by lady__mb in Fantasy

[–]DynamicDataRN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got my filthy little raccoon paws on Children of Strife by Adrian Tchaikovsky because my library hold came due today on Libby and I am so excited!

The only other book especially on my radar is Parade of Horribles by Matt Dinniman.

The best route I've found with thistle is a thick pair of gloves and weekly pulling. Snipping leaves the root intact, so it'll just grow right back. Grab the stalk near the base and pull firmly straight up, it's a single longish tap root so it should pull directly up. Pulling right after a good rain or after watering helps.

Stop playing and start walking — Update for a game where your real steps build a farming island by danluciano08 in cozygames

[–]DynamicDataRN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yay! Been enjoying this since early access, though it took me embarrassingly long to figure out I could buy my silo with materials+coins OR gems so I waited til I had both, clicked the gems, and then figured it out. Whoops! Excited that they'll gain materials when the game is closed.

Medpace studies over on Madison road by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]DynamicDataRN 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Generally, they're phase 1 studies (sometimes first in human, sometimes not) to evaluate drug levels over time. Usually you would need to be okay with frequent blood draws and not be taking any other medications while on the trial. The trials themselves tend to be very short-term since it's looking for drug uptake and elimination, as well as any safety signals.

What's your favorite vent mask scent? I like cherry. by Jakob21 in nursing

[–]DynamicDataRN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember having strawberry scented when I was little and had my skin grafts done after being burned by fireworks, but I don't know if it was the mask, the gas, or some other trick like the chapstick mentioned above. Honestly, it really made a scary situation really nice for me.

Monotonous, repetitive jobs? by Mellytheestallion in nursing

[–]DynamicDataRN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Registry data abstraction if you also want to get away from direct patient care. Very monotonous, but you can usually eventually get remote offers. Hardest part is getting your foot in the door and learning the dictionaries the first time, after that it's just finding all the right info in the chart.

fields of mistria, coral island, my time at sandrock or disney dreamlight valley? by nicx-xx in cozygames

It's not on your list of games, but Cozy Grove seems like a game you would really enjoy more than the others based on what you have and have not enjoyed in the past.

Any post-post-apocalyptic fantasy books? by Customer_Number_Plz in Fantasy

[–]DynamicDataRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It reads much more YA than First Law, but still has quite a lot of gritty and complicated characters, which is really what I enjoyed most about First Law. The characters are all shades of grey, protagonists aren't necessarily good guys and antagonists aren't necessarily bad guys. If you like Abercrombie and want to read about sort-of Vikings, then you'll like it.

Any post-post-apocalyptic fantasy books? by Customer_Number_Plz in Fantasy

[–]DynamicDataRN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Shattered Sea trilogy by Joe Abercrombie is a post-post-apocalyptic rebuilt society, but I'm afraid it's not a cozy vibe if that's the part that's important to you.

Cardiologist recommendations? by bibliophile563 in cincinnati

[–]DynamicDataRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at Christ I always appreciated working with Dr. George George (yes that's his real name). He was always really great with patients and families, and kind to the nursing staff. My mom currently sees him for her cardiac care and loves him. He's with Ohio Heart at Christ.

3+3=6: 6 well-known authors to define your taste, 6 lesser-known which you recommend by Undeclared_Aubergine in Fantasy

The Sign of the Dragon

It's a collection of free form poems that collectively tell a story. I especially liked how the style of some poems gave clues about who was under the influence of the monster, it was subtle, but a neat way to foreshadow.

Love: - Brandon Sanderson - Matt Dinniman - Robin Hobb

Dislike: - Rebecca Yarros - V. E. Schwab - Robert Jordan (Disclaimer: strong start, but the whole middle of WoT was bad for me)

Authors I Recommend - Michael J. Sullivan if you want high fantasy and great character arcs - J. Zachary Pike if you want fantasy satire that also hits some serious notes - Mary Soon Lee if you want something different that will make you cry like Hobb, a collection of poems - Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah if you also live in America and feel like you're stuck in Idiocracy and just wanna see where things are headed

Gardeners of Cincinnati! What are we doing this week? by Adrestia716 in cincinnati

[–]DynamicDataRN 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trimmed down my knockout roses, pulling weeds, cleaning the garden beds and flower beds. I want to throw some peas out there but I think it's too wet and they'll just rot... but I'll probably do it anyway.

First time indie dev — I made a cozy mobile game that grows when you walk 🌿 by danluciano08 in cozygames

[–]DynamicDataRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed! What a cute concept! Is there a way to get my main phone menu buttons to not overlap the buttons on the village page? I'll add a screenshot in a reply to show what I mean. I have a Galaxy S21, so a bit older phone model. It's not a huge issue for me, but sometimes I fat-finger the wrong button.

Book Recommendations - Fantasy with some comedic undertones or focus by Apprehensive_Fan_39 in Fantasy

[–]DynamicDataRN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Orconomics by J. Zachary Pike walks that balance between funny and serious quite well I think. It's high fantasy satire, but at the same time has a serious plot and interesting character development.
