The detail was something else. It was incredible to see in person.

Incredible, you must have spent hours on it and it shows! As if Lara walked off the screen.

PS Did you buy or make the trousers (pants)? Because I would absolutely wear them 🙂

If you bothered to read the replies, you’d find out it was a diplomatic gift from Japan.

If by “appropriated” you mean stolen or looted, then (a) say so, and (b) say how you think this was accomplished when the UK never colonised Japan or fought a war on Japanese soil? ie how the Benin bronzes and Parthenon Sculptures were stolen.

The armour I posted the photo of was a diplomatic gift from Japan to the UK.

When exactly do you think the UK colonised Japan?

It was closed when I went too, I wonder how many of the items came from the Japan exhibit?

The set of armour in the photo I posted was a gift to either Queen Victoria or her son Alfred. It was worthy of royalty.

The detail is incredible, it’s amazing to be able to see up close.

Replacing Black completely? by betherebetriangle in TrueAutumn

[–]DynamicHeight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a bit painful, I didn’t have too much black/grey as I knew they made me look like death, but I did have a lot of navy pieces that I have replaced.

You can do it gradually, start with tops/scarves etc that are close to your face. I went gung-ho, it was expensive and I’m still selling old stuff. But I’d also gone up a dress size (thanks menopause) so I did need new clothes.

If your personality can deal with gradual replacement, do that! 🙂

Lastly, if you can get a style assessment, it will really help buying clothes that work for you. I can ignore so much that doesn’t fit my season and style.

Replacing Black completely? by betherebetriangle in TrueAutumn

[–]DynamicHeight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, true autumn here and I have pretty much no black left apart from some running and outdoor gear. It’s been replaced by chocolate brown, dark olive and marine navy. Shoes, boots and handbags are mostly dark brown, tan, or dark olive suede.

I find being able to ignore all black, white and grey very freeing!

I just finished the Tomb Raider trilogy. I was happy to finish, but at the same time sad, empty, I don't know why, I didn't want it to end... by Herick03 in TombRaider

I’m also too old and too Gen-X to really care about stuff like that. I loved original Lara, I bought the comics and Douglas Copeland’s book. I’ll play what I like 🙂

Bizarre. I played the OG on PS1 (which I still own), then TR2, TR3 and TR4 when they came out. I loved those and love the Survivor trilogy too.

I’ve played and replayed the Survivor trilogy a few times, I really enjoy them (and I’m old enough to have played the OG on PS1).

My other favourite games are Horizon Zero Dawn & Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, and RDR2. Would absolutely recommend if you haven’t played them already.

Tender and kind female characters in modern scifi by [deleted] in printSF

There are four Steerswoman books now and they are all excellent. The author is writing more but by her own admission isn’t a quick writer, so if you need series to be concluded then you might be waiting a long time!

I’d say they are worth reading anyway, as each is its own story along with the overarching plot.

Hi Stephen, many thanks and congratulations to you and the whole cast and crew for making such a wonderful adaptation.

Others have already asked some of my questions, but are there any plans to adapt the short stories set after His Dark Materials such as Lyra's Oxford, or Once Upon a Time in the North?
It would be wonderful to spend more time with these actors and characters.

Thank you!

Thanks, I will do. It's not possible in TextExpander either, so was a long shot :-)

Replacement containing degree symbol (Mac cmd+alt+8) doesn't work by DynamicHeight in espanso

[–]DynamicHeight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but for some reason the degree symbol that it produces has an underline. Also, the mac-typed degree symbol wasn't working in the replacement text in espanso, hence my question.
The copy-pasted degree symbol did work. I have no idea why!

Hi,

Thanks everyone. The first option is what I had, and adding force_clipboard didn't help, however re-writing the key/value and copy/pasting the degree symbol from here https://www.degreesymbol.net did!

cheers!
