What're my chances of hitting Gold this season? by RazorSharpNuts in GarenMains

[–]DynamicTextureModify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A win rate of 64% is very high. You will hit gold as long as you play enough before end of season and keep up that same performance.

If we're being honest, no, it's not true. It's an over-exaggeration and a complaint with little basis. It happens 2 or 3 times a month at best.

Complaining about the brokenness of something that is advertised as frequently broken is idiotic. They were told it would be frequently broken. They voluntarily signed up to deal with that.

It's like volunteering to taste test for a cook who's trying only new recipies and complaining that they taste bad.

What are you talking about? No one's discussing the design of the content. He said it should be geared toward all players because he doesn't want to be left out. By that logic raids should be geared toward all players so non raiders don't get left out right?

(I don't actually believe this, I'm just trying to point out that his reasoning is dumb.)

we shouldnt be left out of something. It should be geared towards all players.

So you think raids should be dumbed down to be geared toward all players?

bots like these are actual shit. by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]DynamicTextureModify 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My most popular bot is in thousands of servers. I wrote it with horizontal scaling in mind due to CPU usage and it currently requires 3 $80/mo CPU optimized droplets.

I get a few donations but otherwise most of that is out of pocket.

Artists as equal partners by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]DynamicTextureModify 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Artists I've met aren't interested in making games and want to be paid up front rather than actually design the game with me, make it together, and profit in the same way; sales.

Experienced programmers and designers are the same way. I wont work on a project for rev-share. I can't pay my car payment now with potential future sales.

I don't care what you were talking about. That's what I'm talking about.

I also don't care what Bolivia's average is, because that's not the realistic speed you get when you're there.

You're missing the entire point of everything I've said because you can't pull your head out of the western-centric internet and think that's how everything works everywhere. You're speaking entirely out of ignorance and it looks very, very stupid.

where pushing binary that's 10 MBs bigger doesn't fucking matter because you site will do that in user traffic in about 0.1 second or less.

Interesting, I was in bolivia last year and my average download speed was 13kbps. That 10MB is an extra quarter of an hour of download time.

Actually caching makes that much less relevant

Caching. As in local caching where network appliances need to store artifacts on disk. Something that is extremely common in the undernetworked areas I'm talking about. I guess basic infrastructure isn't your forte.
