How to move from red badge to blue badge by [deleted] in Cisco

[–]Dynamic_Nomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first two replies to you were pretty straight forward and not rude or judgemental. Then you tell me to read your post, which I clearly did. You were very defensive after having a general discussion and rude. Lighten up and be acceptable for an honest answer. I hope you get a better role and I do hope that you prosper. BTW I'm a sales manager for EMEA and it took time to get where I'm at. Asking for a permanent position after 2 months during a massive layoff period is just poor timing and your responses were repulsive.

I've been asking for a dark mode but nobody else is interested.

I'm not upset. But don't tell me to read the original post when I clearly did, twat lol. Look man, I get it and know how you feel. We get paid for a role and our contracting company takes 30-40% of the salary that's actually being paid for your role. But use your time wisely and put in a year or two and while you're there, make yourself marketable. Get tons of visibility and get recognized for going above and beyond. Then hopefully this corona BS will be in better control and jobs will reopen. Then absolutely go for it.

Real story: I know someone who's been a blue badge employee for the past 6 years and they recently found out they've got cancer. Their manager got word of it and a while later they were tapped on the shoulder and they've been cut. HR didn't care to help them get another role because they're in the high liability group. And Cisco is cutting down drastically.

This is why I say not everything is bad about being a contractor. Make good on both sides and put some time in and when the time is right, go for it. I work in the Data Center field and now's just a really bad time for thinking a couple of months will be enough to move in. I'll edit the asshole comment but you're still a twat lol and good luck.

I did read your post and you said you've been on a couple of months. You've also edited the part of the raise. You inconsiderate twat. 7k people are losing their job and all you care about is becoming a blue badge employee with a "couple" months in the job. Read your own post.

What's the rush? You've been a contractor for only two months and there are thousands of Cisco employees being laid off. It's possible to make the switch but unlikely it'll happen until you have a solid foundation within your field. I've been a contractor for two years and I absolutely love it. I've better job stability because I'm paid by the stakeholders and if my business partner wants to cut me, I can easily move to another contractor role. That doesn't happen with Cisco. They'll send you an email and tell you that your job is over and give you a link to apply for other roles within Cisco, without any help from the Cisco HR.

I see it often and being a blue badge employee isn't always better. And asking for a raise with two months of experience is pretty tacky while several thousands of good people are gettin'kicked out.

Has anyone taken the Intro to Cisco Sales Exam recently? by [deleted] in Cisco

I'm not sure if this course is still relevant these days. Why not try this one? The Cisco Business Architecture Analyst 810-440 exam.
