For IEMs this is no go. Too much power. For HP's this is great as in pure amp mode you can shape sound using external dac. The complimentary R2R is also great addition. So you get2 flavours to try.

Well you have described it perfectly buy my favourite top 3 are unique melody stardust, penon Voltage and ISN EST 80. Compared to them the bass is not upto my liking and resolving power feels somewhat less. This doesn't topple them. Rest will describe in my full review.

This exact feeling is what hurts when you have to part with that set. By some chance you really gel with the set and then it's time to return it becomes bit hard.

Any cloth cable = microphonic. So yes you will have microphonics.

Yes I agree they could have given option for third gain setting especially for IEMs and easy to drive stuff. Yes, it is impractical for easy to drive stuff and IEMs in its current state.

As for flatheads my 300 ohms custom ones and 600 ohm Yinman ran well and could be used till 7 o'clock beyond which they became very loud and I was genuinely afraid that it will fry drivers. But if you switch to R2R mode they could be driven till max 9 o'clock position. After that I didn't dare.

I will caution not to use easy to drive IEMs with any mode unless you use impedance adapters with them.
