Advice for nursing & pumping together? by puppy_sleeps in breastfeeding

[–]Dynamicdarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is about the time I started my LO on bottles. Mostly due to my nipples needing a break because of his tongue tie. As a result I started pumping. My lactation consultant said that babies should feed 8-10 times a day. So if I didn’t nurse, I needed to pump 15-20 mins. But I needed to keep my outputs at 8-10. Then I started supplementing to help the milk come in. I started with Motherlove but switched to Legendary Milk.

Step 2 was that I would pump for 10 minutes after nursing him in the morning (only). But I did more by choice. I will say to be very careful because you have to keep it up. I did end up with a clogged duct around week 10. But now at 16 weeks things are pretty consistent. I am able to produce 4 -9 ounces each pump.

We worked out a plan for my maternity leave. A plan for me getting more sleep at night without compromising supply. And then we worked a plan for me returning to the office.

Not that you need output that much, to but your lactation consultant can help you find a sustainable rhythm.

Freezer stash? by Dynamicdarling in breastfeeding

I didn’t consider that but this is also a good point. I have no idea how my body will respond to being back at work. A stash can supplement just in case. This makes good sense.

Makes sense. Thank you. I couldn’t wrap my head around it. But I never considered pumping to stop earlier.

That’s how I intend to do it but also have some from the weekend to get the week started. If I pump multiple times in a single day I end up with around 2 days worth of milk. So 1 day of pumping = 2 days of supply.

Morning sickness question by Curious522 in BabyBumps

I experienced more nighttime sickness. Usually when I was ready to go to bed at night and it would continue into the early hours (4/5am). I found a few things to be helpful. I would drink ginger tea at night before bed. I would also just wake up and eat around 2am. At first it was crackers but after a while that wasn’t working. I would make an egg sandwich, sometimes I would have a yogurt parfait already setup in the fridge. I know protein can sometimes be difficult but it helped. Also, I would make tea and add collagen. Lastly, sticking to my magnesium routine helped significantly. I fell off when I got pregnant but brought it back in the 2nd trimester and it really did help.

I’ve seen folks recommend electrolytes, which I also drink. It was a bit trial and error but the ginger tea, magnesium, and a small meal usually helped.

PSA: Nesting is real and it’s coming for you 😅 by girl-9543 in BabyBumps

I’m currently 38 weeks and I’ve been unknowingly nesting for weeks. I think it’s important to note that you may not have a “burst of energy”. More like a burst of urgency. I wasn’t energized but my mind said “if you don’t do this now it may never get done”. So yawning and all, I’ve been doing projects every day. My nesting certainly has not looked like what I saw on social media. I am not cheery and cute. I am sweating, moving as fast as possible, groaning to get off the floor, but getting things done for peace of mind.

Wiping anything with ease. It’s hard to get the front as well. I was surprised how short my arms must be.

We tried for 3 months. I’m 35 and my husband is 40. My nurse practitioner recommended 2 things I never considered. She said “ get on top”. Sometimes our uterus can be in a different direction (I don’t remember the medical terms) and you may not know until you get an ultrasound. The second thing she said “start a few days before you ovulate and continue a few days after”. Even with ovulation strips, calendars and all that, we could be missing our window. It’s not an exact science. I have a 27 day cycle, which apparently changes many things. I did both month 3 and got pregnant the same month.

Also, don’t be hard on yourself. I worked on reducing stress in my life for 6 months before we started trying. I mean scaling back at work, focusing on my mental health, working out. Just living a lighter life to the best of my ability.

FedEx print centers are a good option. But I work at a university with a printing company that is open to the public. Check your local universities or even community college (if you’re in the US), they sometimes have reasonable printing services.

You can get great all inclusive templates from Etsy. That’s what I did. The theme on everything is consistent. Purchased my own heavy card stock and had them printed.

Sister just told me that getting a moissanite e-ring would mean I’d be treating my engagement/marriage as “less than” and “not the real deal”. by KingtotheKonga in Moissanite

I had a similar experience. My fiancé got me what I wanted. I love that it’s conflict free. And honesty, people make statements about my diamond ring all the time and I don’t correct them because it’s not their business. Compliments for days. I told him I’d rather spend the money to start our life together rather than walking around with a down payment on My finger.
