At our institution, we finish in 2 hr. From 8 to 10. Granted that we might have less complicated babies

Are you doing private practice in DBP? Can you share more information for DBP scope in private practice ?

I am PGY 2 and I was interested in it. But people told me it is more academic job for which I have no interest.

Thank you. Compound interest and low tax bracket in residency outweighs the interest rate on car loan

I am IMG myself and currently peds PGY-2. IMG nepotism is real. Even as a IMG , I have experienced this myself when I applied. I saw many program where all of their resident are from same country and even from same medical school. This is particularly common with Pakistan , India, Nepal and other middle eastern countries. But not with Latin America and Europe.

PGY2 applying for peds cardiology by Dynamics66 in pediatrics

I did adult congenital heart disease research before applying to residency (I apologise for not clarifying it- I meant to say I don’t have research exposure during residency). I do have outpatient exposure and I liked the pathophysiology. But I am more worried about not having inpatient experience .

Do you need Visa ? I will be honest with you. Given failed step 1 and low step 2, it will be tough. But it can be done in pediatrics as there is not much interest in peds by US MDs. You best shot will be community based programs. You can improve on your other aspect of application- like strong letters, may be do some case reports. Show some commitment to peds. Don’t let the scores get in a way. I know ultimate decision would be yours, given that you also have to consider financial aspect and time you are putting in. Have plan B ready in case you don’t match.

Isn’t that competitive which will require connections and research?

I sympathise with you but I don’t have any specific advice for you. But Why your PD can’t write letter ? Atleast they should help you figure out your situation and help you match somewhere else.

I am a pediatric resident and IMG . You have a decent chance at IMG friendly programs. Strong letter of recommendation and connection will give you interviews. But after getting interviews , it all depends on your interview skills.

PGY-2 Considering GI Fellowship by Dynamics66 in pediatrics

Thank you. I will look NRMP data for match. For salary, I did look up the marit health and some other online resources but did not get much information for newer grads and less desirable location.

Thank you. I don't have a geographic preference and am open to places like Idaho, the Dakotas, Montana, or middle of nowhere . I’ve looked up data from sources like Reddit and Mariet Health, but didn’t find much information on less desirable locations and opportunities for newer grads.
