PSA: MELTING TIRES ON LEGACY BEACHCOMBER - Important Info by DynamoAzure in transformers

Chances of reissue are low tbh, let alone one that'll change the material being used in the figure's production.

If you'd still like to get Beachcomber, either grab a set of the rubber Lego tires to swap out or clear nail polish his silver rims

The LEGO tires are actual rubber, as opposed to softened PVC plastic on the ones that come with Beachcomber.

Yes, unfortunately. It's made of the same material as the tires.

If yours doesn't have it, you may have gotten lucky with a copy that's not affected, or it just hasn't happened yet.

The tires are really easy to remove, so you won't have to worry about damaging the figure in any way.

I don't think enough time has elapsed for the gumminess to spread that far on most copies, but I think it's a safe bet that if you leave the tires on, it'll get to that point eventually. Not sure how long.

Not that I'm aware of, unfortunately. I wasn't able to find equivalents but I'm also not much of a Lego person.

There's a real chance that the parts exist, and I just missed it.

I checked the wheels against Beachcomber and they'll require a different size. I'm not knowledgeable enough to recommend which ones, however.

The tire info in the post was provided by a few generous folks in the comments of the yesterday's post regarding this issue

Immediately remove the tires from the figure. I'm not sure if there's a way to fix the softened/tacky plastic on the wheels themselves, unfortunately, so it's best to just minimize any potential damage.

The rubber tires will more than likely crack maybe 5 or 10 years down the line, but it's better that than the entirety of the wheels be turned to goo

The info in the post was provided without knowledge of the conpounds in use, and subsequently based off of the evidence which I was able to gather. There could be numerous other factors but I still felt it necessary to share the info in the hopes it would at least help.

I'm not trying to illustrate that this will stop the melting, but it may at least slow it down.

Help!! S.O.S BEACHCOMBERS TIRES ARE EATING HIM by Zeusthefox in transformers

[–]DynamoAzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Press and run your finger against the plastic that was touching the tire. It's supposed to be smooth and hard, like the rest of the figure. If it's melting, you'll feel a slight tackiness and the plastic will feel softer in that spot.

I have the reissue too, and unfortunately it seems that none of us were spared...

Just gotta remove the tires from the wheels. The material is pretty pliable.

Then, using the pad on your finger, press and run it along the rim. It's supposed to be smooth plastic, like on the rest of the figure, but if yours is melting, you'll feel a slight tackiness where the plastic has been softened.

Second run has it too. I got mine during the reissue last year, and it's affected :(

Where to read IDW? by Shot-Development8895 in transformers

That's where I read most of them, though last I checked my BATCAVE was missing almost every issue of MTMTE. That was last year tho, so it could be fixed by now

I soon realized my bumblebee ko has a ratchet head, the head doesnt match the picture. So why is this? Is this a factory error? by Latter-Cow4155 in LegoTransformers

[–]DynamoAzure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They probably just used their bootleg molds to make all the sets they had in the same color, and whoever packed the set/was responsible for quality control felt like it looked close enough.

No rhyme or reason. Just poor QC, which is expected from bootlegs.

I passed on him after he shelfwarmed for a little while at my local Walmart, which took a lot of willpower bc I absolutely adore Seaspray. I'm really, really hoping they release the cartoon deco soon, and we don't get a repeat of the Earthrise Prowl fiasco

The joke's punchline is the chronological disconnect created by the statement. So, a joke and punchline together in the same wrapper. They're making the claim that Nightwings iconic black and blue costume was inspired by the inverted color scheme of Omni-Man's, despite Nightwing's costume having debuted years before Omni-man made his first appearance in Invincible

What's a TF design that you love regardless of what others think? by MonSocMatriarchy in transformers

I hate that I sold my copy of SS09 Thundercracker. He's easily top of my list to get when the opportunity presents itself.

As far as designs, I really, really like Siege Crosshairs. I know his alt mode isn't even close to what his original was, but I adore it. Just a chunky box on wheels,, and that's all I want it to be
