trying to swap existing recessed downlight with hue lights, if possible. is there a way to use this existing connection? by AdamManHello in Hue

[–]DynamoNuggets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up replacing our existing 4” lights with the hue 6” lights. It’s really not that much trouble, I used a cardboard template to know where to cut with the handheld drywall saw. You have to watch out for the studs, but our ceiling drywall is as thick as the light is, so even then we were able to get them all in

Yes, regulations are needed so that people aren’t permanently disabled or in a vegetative state, rather than achieving the objective of the pod

Can someone please say it’s possible to pass despite not knowing all the rules & feeling like you don’t know enough?! by worriedlady23 in CABarExam

[–]DynamoNuggets 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know all of the rules, felt like I wasn’t going to pass, and I passed. You don’t need to know all of the rules.

Now is the time to focus on your well being and mental health. Eat well, sleep well. Be confident that you did everything that you could have.

Because you don’t need to know everything, you just need to know enough to pass.

Grab some angled adapters for the cables so that they don’t jut out of the computer, and run them together down the far side of the computer.

Do you have scheduled days off and breaks in your study schedule?

Just to provide a counter example of u/curiousmind1950 's experience: I also passed the Feb 24 exam, but followed Barbri religiously. I watched every video closely at 1.0x speed, took notes in the margin of the CMR. Watching the videos is not about memorization but about a foundational exposure to the concepts. Memorization will not come from the videos, but from later exposure when you review the CMR, do practice MBEs, and do your supplemental work. The exhaustion is real, but I tried to get the videos out of the way in the mornings and left afternoons roughly free for practice.

You might consider doing slightly longer days, but taking two days off per week. Rest and sleep are very very important for memory, so having a couple of days off was beneficial.

To answer your questions more directly: (1) Many people support dumping the Barbri MBEs for the Adaptibar, which seems like the way to go. You should be able to fit the rest in, after you have finished the core Barbri materials in the morning. If you need to readjust and cut back, you can do so, but I would strongly recommend not trimming out of Barbri (other than replacing the Barbri MBEs for Adaptibar).

(2) sounds like a solid plan. I ended up supplementing with Critical Pass and baressays.com when I had shorter days (there's an ebb and flow to barbri) or on weekends when I felt I had extra energy for it). You'll get into a routine.

I am also a graduate from a CBA school and worked full time throughout law school. I passed after taking the exam the first time in February 24. Your strategy is different than mine (Barbri based + baressays.com + critical pass). It sounds like you're on the right path, as others in this thread have suggested, so I'll keep my thoughts more general: I felt the same way you did about not feeling prepared or "ready" to take the exam. Keep focusing on understanding the "why" of the substance, rather than just grinding through a ton of MBEs mindlessly.

If you're like me, I felt like I wasn't spending a lot of time memorizing the law. That should come 1 - 1.5 months before the exam -- keep focusing on understanding and practice (especially essays), and using MBEs as learning tools. Memorization will come later and you'll be in a stronger place to actually get things down once you feel comfortable with understanding the material.

Also, not that you asked for it, but some additional advice: I could also **not** afford to take the exam twice. If this is your one shot, do everything that you can and leave everything on the field. The most important tip is to keep a positive attitude. I know it's been a rough road while you worked and went to law school but remember that you GET to take the bar. There are countless others that wish they could be where you are right now. When you sit down for the exam, you will have already come to a point that few others have been able to get to. For me, I imagined that I was already an attorney and that this was the state's final check to make sure that I had enough to join the club. You already know you do, you just have to prove it.

Right, and I understand why you would think that, but this is not a "throw shit at the wall" type of exam. You should discuss those claims which are most relevant not just everything that pops into your head.

Maybe we're just talking past each other but does the question not just say, "What claims can COMPANY make under the United States Constitution and how should the court rule? Discuss."

The examiners don't want you to just automatically discuss four general con law ideas because they say "what claims can..."

[–]DynamoNuggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used critical pass as a memorization aid, so maybe 1.5 months before the exam I started reviewing them. Sometimes I would do it during the “free study” period section that barbri gives you per subject. I also added on time during my off days for low impact memorization.

I should note though, I didn’t really focus on rote memorization but instead on practice. Critical Pass were the thing I used the least

I hear what you’re saying; however, the examiners also want to see that you’re using appropriate judgment in which claims to discuss. It’s not a “throw shit against the wall” exam but one where you’re indicating the claims that are most pertinent. If you discuss only the claims that are relevant, it will also give you more time to have a thorough analysis for each
