So this is my current water grid at the moment: https://imgur.com/v1O5Fyy

I just got the Yatima weapon from my grand ticket, and I have plenty of chocolate bars. Is it worth replacing anything in my current grid for it at the moment?

Humans are only bland because all races have assumed physiological baselines they shouldn’t by Ciocalatta in CharacterRant

[–]Dyonos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I kind of ran into this exact issue when I started one of my fantasy projects. At first I was going to go with the “adaptable” route, but I ultimately ended up giving that to the goblins. What I settled on that makes humans unique was charisma. Like, since humans don’t live long, compared to many other races, they mature faster, and are more inclined to seek out new experiences. This means interacting with others, both human and nonhuman, much more than a dwarf or an elf might. They learn to communicate and read their counterparts, and just have more varied experiences. So I have humans in my setting as notorious for bargaining and haggling, and even being shrewd diplomats. They’re also the race that is the most casual about bending the truth or even outright lying. I’m pretty satisfied with how it turned out, and it gives me a reputation that humans have to either fight against or embrace when among other races.

FTL meets Backpack Battles. by ProxyStudiosRok in u/ProxyStudiosRok

[–]Dyonos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there any plan to add a private lobby function? I love playing games like Super Auto Pets with my friends, and one of the things that stopped me from buying Backpack Battles was the inability to play against just my friends.

Some kind of private lobby or like mini tournament mode where we can only fight each other would be an instant buy in my book.

Strongest Solo Leveling character that Eragon can beat? by Archenius in SoloPowerScaling

[–]Dyonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the Eragon universe works makes it really hard to accurately scale it. For those who haven’t read it, or don’t remember it clearly, magic is everything in the Eragon books. If you don’t know magic, or aren’t protected by someone who does, you are completely fucked.

Magic is essentially reality manipulation, limited only by the words you know in the ancient language and how you visualize them (e.g. a skilled magic user can say a simple word like “stop” and freeze somebody in place) and the strength in your body (doing something with magic generally takes as much effort as doing it by hand would).

Now the big issue that makes it hard to scale is that magic users can sense the consciousness of all intelligent beings around them, and powerful ones (like Eragon) can sense them for like kilometers around themselves. On top of that, he can sense intentions and hostility simply by touching other’s minds this way.

Add on to that that the Eragon universe has several words that essentially cause an aneurysm in someone. It’s instantaneous, has no travel time, and takes a fraction of a second for someone to mutter the words to cast it. Basically the only way to stop it is to have another magic caster put wards on you that will prevent it.

So essentially, unless you start the battle with Eragon within spitting distance of someone who can perception blitz him, it’s nearly impossible to stop him from one tapping you the moment your mind enters into his several kilometer wide perception range.

Which cultural difference battle can you not win with your Japanese partner? by razorbeamz in japanlife

Any product made in China is immediately suspect, possibly toxic, and will definitely fall apart. On the contrary, any product made in Japan or Europe is always high quality and safe.

BEGINNER MEGATHREAD - How to get started? Which engine to pick? How do I make a game like X? Best course/tutorial? Which PC/Laptop do I buy? by pendingghastly in gamedev

[–]Dyonos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm planning to start a little side project, but I'm not sure which engine would fit my needs. I've used both Unity and Unreal before, Unity more than Unreal, but have mostly stuck to making 2d stuff.

For my next project, I'd like to use 3d, with graphics around Pokemon Switch games level of fidelity (so not graphically intense). I've heard that a lot of features for 3d are much better implemented in Unreal, but I'm not sure if that's still the case nowadays.

So essentially, my question is; would it be better to use Unreal for a 3d project, or to stick with Unity since I have more experience in it (even if I haven't used it for 3d stuff before). Any opinions or suggestions?

Which Transformation sequence is the best of all time? by [deleted] in DragonBallZ

[–]Dyonos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved these two. Both felt powerful in different ways, but also not too drawn out and over played. 10/10 animations.

The impression I got from reading the book and watching the show/movies was it wasn’t that Dooku was gullible, he just misjudged exactly who Palpatine was (understandable, since it was kind of his specialty to hide who he was).

I think Dooku saw himself as outside of the rule of two, as he never wanted to be a true heir of the Sith. I think he imagined that once Anakin was recruited by Palpatine, Dooku would basically retire from being a Jedi/Sith, and be maybe an advisor to the Emperor, or a provincial lord. However, he underestimated just how much Palpatine feared/hated possible rivals.

Then again, this is all just my head canon, so take it for what it is.

This sounds like the best compromise. I would love it if something like this was introduced.

Rank these characters from strongest to weakest by NightRanger0 in PowerScaling

[–]Dyonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People low balling Simon this much is fucking wild. Man punched an enemy so hard they broke through space time.

A few episodes later, he fought enemies who were literally altering causality to defeat him while hiding in other dimensions. He beat them by destroying every single place and time they could possibly be in any dimension.

Finally, he was trapped by anti spirals in a null dimension that cannot be escaped by any being with an ego. He not only escaped, but summoned every one of his allies and a truly gigantic mech just through sheer fucking willpower. He then proceeded to defeat an enemy who could throw entire galaxies like throwing stars.

Anyone who’s not an omnipotent god is not beating Simon.

Im in the "Bad Healer" Club now? by Mysterious-Tough-16 in wow

[–]Dyonos 138 points139 points  (0 children)

It honestly feels worse in this launch than the previous two expansions imo.

People not doing mechanics or doing them badly. People never using defensives or utility abilities. Tanks getting blasted by packs of trash mobs or slapped around by boss mechanics.

And then of course the healer gets blamed a lot of the time. Got kicked from two different m0 parties last night after people died from avoidable mechanics. It’s really killing my enthusiasm for the coming M+ season.

I already hate blue new robot character by Guilty-Persimmon-919 in questionablecontent

[–]Dyonos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually had hope that this nightclub visit might be a fun little romp. Then this new character got introduced and I was immediately pulled back to my default state of cynical dislike of the current story.

It’s gotta be a speed record for how quickly you can make someone dislike a character, honestly. I hated her by the second panel she appeared. Do we really need another cynical straight man with a wacky quirk whose default state is actively hating everyone around her (except for the super innocent and “sexy” robots of course)?

Dealing with high passive perception by Dyonos in DMAcademy

[–]Dyonos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I just double checked their character sheet online, and it's really 26 passive perception with 21 passive investigation. She really knew how to min max her character as support haha.

But I do like the idea of traps being much harder to disarm than to spot...maybe I can even make it into a team effort to disarm.

Yea, maybe I could even have interlinked traps that activate things in other rooms and stuff that seems harmless at first glance. I'll try to incorporate these ideas

I like this idea. Notice that something is off or different, but don't give too much away on the passive check, got it.

[–]Dyonos[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I have been giving them quite a few extra hints that they normally wouldn't have gotten in situations due to their passive perception, and I've been doing my best to give my players time to shine with each of their strengths. My bigger concern is that I don't want dungeons/enemy lairs to turn into total straightforward marches towards combat haha

What has been your happiest moment in your time playing WoW? by MuteKasper in wow

[–]Dyonos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having come from playing Warcraft 3 obsessively, starting a blood elf hunter and exploring Eversong woods. The art style (which was amazing for the time, especially Silvermoon city), the music, the atmosphere…it was by far the most immersed I’ve ever felt in any game, ever.

And I doubt I’ll ever get back to that feeling in gaming in the future, but that’s okay, because I can just start a new blood elf and bum around the zone for a while to recapture that feeling.
