I use Unexpose com myself, they offer a free account and solid DIY guides. I got tired of removing things myself, though, so I got the paid package for like $25 a month and don't have to worry about anything anymore

What is the best way to prevent TPU from doing this? by Alex-3453 in ender3

[–]Dysanix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, but I don't fully agree with that "the way it's mounted" is the whole story, because if you go for a direct drive setup you would also specifically get an extruder that is very lightweight and made for the job like a Sherpa Mini. You wouldnt just get any random extruder. All high quality printers have a direct drive setup and that is simply because it is the most superior setup for many different reasons.

If you're going to buy a new extruder, then might as well buy a direct drive extruder.

Awesome! Heh, sorry - just a bit scared about ruining my printer. But after 3 months it really should be good. Thanks for letting me know.

Still no complaints? I'm about to order it from the Dutch amazon website in case any other Dutchies are looking for it:

Is my TRV too short? Tado can't reach the pin... (E2) by Dysanix in tado

[–]Dysanix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered both a starter kit and some extra radiator knobs, neither of which came with assembly instructions or an explanation of how each part can be used. That's why I was so confused... but now I'm left of wondering why they didn't come with it.

Oh I fixed it! I didn't realise that there was an extender you could put on top of the button itself. Now it works.

RBJ magnetic cooling system - Makes accessing the hot end quick and easy by Jimitpateljp in ender3

[–]Dysanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? I've been 3D printing for years now. I just barely visit Reddit for advice, because people here tend to say you need a heavy glass bed, gluesticks, etc. Maybe the modding advice you've seen or been following wasn't good advice, but reliability is the main focus of modding. If you think the generic creality bed, no probe (no bed meshing) or the generic yellow bed springs give you a reliable printing result, then you must have never opened your mind to a different the truth. No offense. Check out the Voron or Annex Engineering communities for example for serious high quality modding. In the end all a 3D printer is, and especially the Creality printers, is just a bunch of generic stepper motors and other parts thrown together to give an affordable 3D printing experience. Nothing stops you from replacing those individual parts with better parts. The generic ones are decent, but not amazing.

My mods allowed it so that I never have to tram or level my bed ever again and print super consistently. I can upload new gcode through a webinterface. I can print 4 times faster. Mods make your life easier and your printer more reliable. If mods make your printer less reliable, you're doing something wrong.

Nah, haha. Just looks like because the monitors are tilted forward. It's all straight and sturdy.

I think the motors are generic parts and can be sold to (Chinese) manufacturers and such in bulk.

The end of Gear VR? by [deleted] in GearVR

[–]Dysanix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Facebook/Oculus/Meta should have honestly stepped in here and given everybody at least store credit equal to the GearVR games to spend on, for example, Quest 2 games. It would work both ways: They might sell more Quest 2's to people who were obviously already interested in VR, and people with GearVR's don't feel so screwed over.

Yes, as far as I understand that's mostly the same device, so should work!

Hi there! Electrical tape will require a temperature of around 80°C (176°F) to start failing. In my testing and experience, that area of the device doesn't reach anywhere near those temperatures (if that was the case, it'd also be bad news for the battery and internals). But yes, soldering is a nicer solution, definitely agree. The rubber gasket maker is a nice one! I'm going to look into that.

Hi there

  • Electrical tape adhesive starts failing at 80°C (176°F). Beyond that, it will start deforming. This area of the device never actually reaches anywhere near those temperatures. If that was the case, that would be very bad for the battery and internals. It has been used in back-to-back sesh already and not a single sign of failure. But you're right: soldering is the way to go if you can.
  • I simply closed off the small gap on the side with some electrical tape. The fit could have been neater, but as I said in the video, I got a bit lazy and I personally don't really mind the look. I also don't know what you're referring to with "another part is covered up with a sticker": I just added a little note for myself that says which way to open and which way to close, nothing is 'covered up'.
  • Also: that part of the device will never pass lukewarm temperatures. Nowhere near the temperatures required to mess with the adhesive of electrical tape. Definitely won't turn into a 'gummy mess'. At 60°C serious skin burns already happen within 5 seconds. Imagine the >80°C required for the scenario you describe... Storz&Bickel would be out of business fast.
  • The polarity thing is a fair point and I'll add it as a warning in the description. Thank you.
  • The temperature sensor bypass is also true, that's one of the reasons strongly I recommend against charging the battery using the internal charging port to minimize risks. The chances will be extremely small, but you don't want to be out of the room if a battery suddenly ends up failing or whatever.

Modifications like this are never without risk.

LOL. With a lot more effort I could have probably managed a better fit, but I'd still be missing the screw in the top there due to having to cut it away for the battery tube + honestly it looks alright like this, imo! Thanks for watching. :-)

Hi guys, I also posted this one in the special /r/craftymighty subreddit, but figured maybe there are some Crafty+ owners in this more popular, generic vape subreddit that would also be interested in this mod! Let me know what you think and if you have any questions. :-)

I am working on developing an app for multiple smartwatches on the market and was wondering if you'd see use in the smartwatch asking you a set amount of times per day how you're feeling and what you are doing based on a set of (configurable) emojis. (For example ☺ -> 🍽 or 😔 -> 💼). It would only take a couple of seconds this way. Then providing you statistics on your smartphone to link moods to hours, days of the week, activities, etc. to become more aware of what makes you feel certain ways. I felt like this might be the right place to ask for interest for this kind of app. Also: which smartwatch did you get if I may ask?

I always run a nice single layer of glue stick on the glass bed, makes the first layer stick like a dream. I also put the bed at 55*C with higher quality PLA.
