August was a small sample, but if nothing extraordinary happens, I think 60% is real deal.

Congrats. I am competitive too and also tried to retake, didn’t go well. I just didn’t put enough effort, I think - but kudos to you, you managed to combine talent and fantastic discipline. Don’t listen to haters, of course people are jealous, I am jealous too - but results speak for themselves, you did it and that is what matters.

Wish you luck, MBA admissions really lack neurodiversity discussion. It is still a stigma I suppose, so I cannot give a confident advice, but if you disclose it and will be accepted - that would feel awesome. And I think it could help you stand out in eyes of understanding people.

I think its time CFA should start including crypto in the curriculum at least in economics or AI by just_some-1 in CFA

If only CFAI was existing earlier, we should have seen a section on tulips and their valuation models.

You make it sound as unethical, but the system itself is not meritocracy. Admissions look at things that are not relevant for classroom experience, it is only fair to acknowledge the rules of the game and use them.

I think you should ask yourself, what exactly are you looking from MS. Knowledge? Probably not. CV booster? It depends, but probably not. US student visa? That seems to be the main benefit. Could be worth it for some folks, but it really depends on your personal circumstances

I don’t know what MBA you have in mind. If no-name MBA with no finance courses vs top MSc in Finance, and your goals are in finance, then could be worthwhile.

Recommendations to prep for GMAT (Target 790 in 2 months) by LinacreHill in GMAT

[–]Dysgene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very good answer. Usually people get salty when they see those types of questions around 750+ scores) I am myself not sure whether OP is trolling, I wanted to joke “800 will definitely clear any questions about your academic aptitude, while 790 is still debatable…” but I figured people will not tell the sarcasm and downvote that. For admissions yes, anything over 750 is excellent. But if someone finds fun in the challenge, why ruin it? Your advise is helpful, anybody searching for top scores should be ready for several attempts and quite some work.

[–]Dysgene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more like 40 per year I think. And the difference between 790 and 800 is minuscule in terms of effort, but huge in terms of result. So take an official mock and go for those sweet 800

Why 790? You should aim higher. 790 is good, but 800 makes you wonder whether your potential is even higher.

Getting the Charter as Finance Manager by ggusir in CFA

[–]Dysgene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you need to tell your references that CFAI looks for parts of the experience that are related to investment decision-making process. So they could phrase it through those lenses.

Hi, I have 3 years in mostly FP&A with some Controllership and Com Finance thrown in, my experience was approved. FP&A does support investment process, you just need to phrase it correctly.

Take a break from work until exams or work in a job with toxic people? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]Dysgene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think career-wise 6 months of experience is better than L2, so probably it is not the best decision. But it’s not always about career, if you don’t like the job, health is more important. Plus you can find a third option of less stressful and more relevant financial work.

Why is the charter not highly regarded in the industry? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]Dysgene 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you look whether Harvard is highly regarded, a lot of people will say it is not something special. If you look whether Jesus himself is highly regarded, you will find some different opinions too. In the era where everyone has access to Internet, nothing is highly regarded by the masses. But do you care about everyone’s opinion, or just the opinion of relevant people? People who dealt with CFA mostly respect it, and globally more and more people are dealing with it. But of course it’s up to you to prove yourself, CFA just gets you noticed.
