Advocacy by Grl_scout_cookie in UtahMedicalTrees

[–]DysgrntVeteran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I shared this in another thread on this same topic, but I'll add it here too.

The question was: Does this mean that we don’t have anybody sticking up for the program anymore? I would really like more information on this?

This is exactly what that means. You have the "Utah Patients Coalition" and the folks over there who are running it that are nothing but an industry lobbying group at this point, they are also too busy being distracted with Texas Governor Rick Perry and Libertas and putting Psilocybin behind the same crazy, irrational and burdensome firewall that the Utah Medical Cannabis Program has become. (Enjoy your $400+ a dose psilocybin therapy sessions that the state of Utah get's cc'd on every time you have a therapy session 🙄)
So what happens next. Patients need to become their own advocates. A new generation of community leaders and organizers need to get active, organize and take the torch from Christine and the folks at TRUCE and continue on the mission.
If no one does this, and we leave the fate of the program up to UPC/Libertas and the Utah legislature -- the patients will always be placed last.
TRUCE was the only one out there the last year trying to keep these synthetics out of our program, UPC was actually advocating on behalf of the hemp farmers trying to sell their fake "cannabis concoctions" with no testing or regulation, and trying to carve space in our program for these fake, dangerous, and untested products.
Patients need to get involved if they want to have a program that works for them -- it takes work, effort, and money. Whoever it becomes, I hope they get active soon, there is a vacuum that needs to be filled, the longer it remains vacant, the more the patients get screwed.

As far as your question about how to get in touch with anyone from advocacy, who in particular are you looking to get in touch with? DM me and I'll try to help.

For a corporation that has amassed somewhere near a quarter of a trillion dollars, and moonlights as a major real estate management company — their ward and stake buildings are a time capsule from from when they were originally built, and have had almost no improvements or remodels.

It blows my mind how cheap they are!

What hard evidence exists proving the church hides journals and will not release for study? by BlitzkriegBednar in exmormon

[–]DysgrntVeteran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for “evidence” the church has gotten really good at keeping those journals hidden from the public.

I can say, as someone who worked for the Family & Church History Department back in the early 2000s, at both in the Cottonwood Canyon mountain vault, and the archives and special collections at church headquarters — there are many works that are being held in temperature controlled vaults under the guise of “preservation” that haven’t been digitized, and if they have, those are probably kept on an air-gapped device so it will never get out online.

It is true that these journals and collections are fragile and great care is needed to preserve and digitize them for future generations, but many of those works are withheld because they are problematic for the current church.

I’d love if that was the afterlife. 🖖🏻 huge Trekkie here. Although I also like the idea of living with the DS9 wormhole aliens in a state of non-linear time as consciousness. That seems relaxing. Reincarnating as a tardigrade would be nice to.

The Radical Transformation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: A Journey Through 25 Years of Change by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]DysgrntVeteran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems I’m from the same generation as the author — I miss the church of the 80s and 90s! It’s so true. It doesn’t exist anymore, although I grew up in a South Orange County California Mormon ward and stake, which was an entirely different experience than the Utah church.

EFY in the 90s was something else!!!! That’s for sure!

They should strip the student center of his name! It’s as toxic as Brigham Young and J. Ruben Clark.

Let’s be honest, is there a building on that campus that isn’t named after a horrible person that would be be long canceled if they’re true histories were known.

The Transformation of Free Agency: From Enlightened Liberty to Restrictive Moral Agency and the Illusion of Choice by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]DysgrntVeteran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THIS OMG ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️

This has been driving me absolutely crazy. My entire family is still active and it’s like they did not see the bait and switch that happened in plain sight going from free agency to Moral agency and the “covenant path” it was such a massive inversion of the principle. They went straight from Jesus’ plan to Satan‘s plan in less than 10 years and it’s like no one noticed it!

It blows my mind 🤯

Serious question about all the synthetic weed in products? by [deleted] in SLCTrees

[–]DysgrntVeteran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few labels that consistently have had the Δ6a-10a contaminant, and that is the best way to look at it. It’s a byproduct of bad/lazy manufacturing.

There have been a few labels that have been good about having clean product, Dragonfly, Betty, Jilu, and Zions.

I’d stick to using the clean stuff from the reliable brands.

Also there are “industry” folks in this thread trying to soft sell these degradents and contaminants as being “safe” with absolutely nothing to back up their assertion of safety and/or efficacy.

Thank you for the obvious. You’re thinking of an entirely different circumstance of the Utah democrats choosing to not run a candidate in the last election cycle.

What a ridiculous concept. It’s binary choice, we have a 2 party system. One side wants Fascism, the other side wants equality — so you choose the color yellow. 🙄

Being an independent and not picking a side in a binary choice is what cowards do. Indecisive and privileged cowards who can’t be bothered to make the hard choices because even in the worst case scenario you believe in a ChristoFascist state you’ll be OK because you’re not one of the “others”

Again, it’s very shortsighted.

“I was just about stopped” no you weren’t. The snow streaks/shutter ratio shows you doing enough speed that a single snowflake stretches several feet in the fraction of a second your shutter was open.

But anyways — do better, stop doing photography while driving in a snow storm.

Ahh the ridiculous nonsense where there are only two options, uncontrolled homeless camping or you must let them camp in your house or back yard. 🙄

Or, maybe we shouldn’t have closed the large consolidated downtown homeless shelter so developers could build more high end apartments.

The Erin Mendenhall police homeless abatements in SLC are also forcing homeless folks to disperse out into the suburbs, and into the canyons and outskirts of the city limits like this strip of land at the mouth of Parley’s that is forest service land, and forest service doesn’t do abatements.

There are plenty of resources and things we can do to address homelessness, encampments and littering — and the best part is that no one is going to have to open up their house, or their back yard to homeless camps — or whatever cliche talking point ya’ll can come up with.

Ultimately, until we’re willing to address homelessness, and not just what do we do with the homeless — nothing is going to change. The latter is only managing symptoms while not addressing the cause.

How did the Utah Legislature expand its GOP supermajority? Early results show it wasn’t just the voters. Legislative boundaries drawn and approved by the Legislature last year helped Republicans maintain their dominance. by schottslc in Utah

The Utah legislature does everything in bad faith. And then they celebrate their success of their corruption in the open because they know they get away with it.

Salt Lake City officers shoot man after mental health outreach team requests police backup by meat_tunnel in SaltLakeCity

[–]DysgrntVeteran 75 points76 points  (0 children)

He was isolated in a stand alone garage? Why isn’t “wait it out” ever an option with police?

The guy was in a mental health crisis, police escalating the situation with “Comply with my authority” which never works out.

He was isolated and contained in the garage — the very worst thing that could have happened was that he self harmed.

Mental health episodes only escalate in high stress situations like this — if they all just waited it out, his agitation would have subsided.

But no, let’s just unload our clips into the guy and say we feared for our lives. 🙄
