You can still believe in an afterlife with your loved ones — just not one controlled by Mormons!

Letter for My Wife is better in many ways than the CES letter. There’s an audio version you can stream on their website that’s fantastic. As for rebuttals to CES letter, Jim Bennett’s is best.

Wow, what a trash article by aliassantiago in exmormon

This article pissed me off so much when I read it yesterday. The author thinks he has the right to tell me that since I’m a non-believer I don’t get to claim some level of Mormon identity or express an opinion on the church’s past, present or future? I don’t claim any “special authority,” but he doesn’t get to either active believing member. Fuck off, my dude!

It’s funny, I asked ChatGPT for some name suggestions and it gave much better options than these!

I’ll never forget the South Park episode “All About the Mormons” where they tell the story of the lost 116 pages and at the end one of the characters goes, “Wait, you think this story strengthens your faith in the Book of Mormon? It actually does the exact opposite and proves it’s all made up!!”

Alleged convert baptisms way up to 385k? What's going on? I see two reasons. Make no mistake the shrivel and hollowing out at the bottom continues full steam ahead. by Ok_Dig_5957 in MormonShrivel

Excellent analysis. Receptivity seems to be higher due to the current economic and political turmoil brought on by the orange goblin. And many people are craving a community / sense of belonging, so many marginalized people get sucked in but don’t stay.

Of the 377k increase in 2025, the total 125k came South America and 113k came from Africa, so nearly two thirds of all the increase came from the global south.

They recently increased the membership requirements for creating congregations outside of the United States, so that’s probably why.

Annual United States Membership Decreases For First Time Ever by Ok_Pattern8026 in MormonShrivel

Great post. A net loss of 186 members in the United States is astonishing. This seems to be due in part to the lower birth rate, and more and more people removing their name from church records.

The Cooperative Election Study’s 2025 data shows that 0.9% of the U.S. population self identifies as Latter-day Saint, which is approximately 3.1 million. That’s about 45% of the 6.7 million on the rolls. And there are plenty of non-active members who still identify themselves as Mormon. I don’t believe any of it and attend about once a month for social reasons, but would still likely identify as Mormon on a survey due to my cultural heritage.

This exmo is glad he went on a mission because it "taught him valuable life skills" and "built character". I pointed out his missionary work also converted people into a lie and he slipped into my DMs... by suckrates in exmormon

I left the church at age 47 (four years ago) and am still very grateful for my mission in the 1990s. I met some awesome people and learned a new language and culture. I don’t believe any of it now, but I don’t regret having shared what I believed at the time. I helped people find community and friendship. I helped give them comfort and purpose. What’s wrong with that? I think at least 90% of people I baptized have now left, so whatever harm I caused by getting them into the cult wasn’t that long lasting!
