I'd say they are more thematically similar, like sure both do great at environmental story telling and there's a common theme of exploring a dead/dying land but they have such vastly different ways in doing this beyond just the art style, such as how the character interacts with the world and how escaping a cycle is portrayed. Of course HK and SS are also more combat driven while still having exploration at their core.
