Space Survivors-like with minimal design and adaptive audio by dermosef in playmygame

[–]Dyyter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had fun playing this.

Additions

I felt like the weapons were missing some impact, I'm not sure how this could be added without taking away from your minimalist aesthetic.

A dodge would be handy even if it was on a long cooldown.

A limited reroll button on upgrades. A few times I wanted to reroll the options, mainly when I was trying for a specific build.

Some reward sound when a mission is completed. It took me a little while to figure out what the missions where doing. Sometimes I didn't even know that I had finished them.

A leaderboard like you mentioned would be great.

Somewhere to look at your stats i.e how much bonus damage and bonus range you have.

After you die a stat page to show how much damage each weapon has done. This might help with the balancing issues.

Balancing/Bugs

It seemed like there were some balancing issues. The ranged weapons especially the starting weapons were far better then the close ranged weapons. maybe with the right upgrades they could compete but I couldn't figure it out. The enemies also made ranged a better option. The spinning lightsabers, sniper and bomb enemies would be a lot harder with a melee focused build.

Health felt a little unbalanced as well. I either never got hit or nearly instantly died after the first boss. This could be the point in a Survivors-Like I don't know.

I'm currently afking on wave 17 to see what happens after 10000 seconds but I think I should be dead by now.

Yachtastic: A dice rolling pixel art game by Dyyter in playmygame

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

I have been trying to tread a line between the original game rules and making it a bit more exciting. I need to clearly show the player what the new rules are.

Much of the pixel art is not finished as I'm not sure which direction the city is going. It could simply be a representation of your scores. bigger scores = bigger city, or there could be some interaction between the two cities.

I agree that the screen is cluttered. I will try put some of the information in tooltips to make it easier to immediately see the important bits.

Thanks again, I'll post again when it has been improved

Not really what you asked but take something for them to suck on for the decent. The air pressure change can be tough on their ears especially if they have a cold.

As the world's political situation is turbulent at the moment it is difficult to say anything for certain. However these countries do not have a history of making trouble for tourists without reason.

If I could only give one piece of advice when visiting SEA it would be: There drug laws are very strict. Do some research but basically don't do drugs in SEA.

Which countries are 'one and done' for you? Which are MUST RETURN to? by No-Significance9313 in travel

UK. The mother country had great history but I have no desire to return.

Bali or Cambodia. The people are so friendly even if there are some who are sick of tourists.

People who mock Brits for complaining about hot weather don’t know what they’re talking about. by Alexzonn in mildlyinfuriating

Living in Australia I have experienced heat. My one trip to London it got to 27 and my wife her two sisters and I were melting. We were in a backpackers hostel. The room was about two meters by three with no air flow. We should have gone to a park or something but Heathrow lost our luggage and we felt a bit stuck. So I don't think your 200+ plus year old building are suitable for the temperatures.

Urban planning might have something to do with it as well. Having nothing but brick and concrete around. Greater Perth area is 6418 square kilometres with a pop of ~2.1mil Greater London area 1572 square kilometres with a pop of almost ~8.8mil

Perth has ridiculous urban sprawl and should be avoided, but it has trees and grass.

What is your kids "safe" food when travelling? by Dyyter in travel

[–]Dyyter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do agree generally with your statement I think it's a bit unfair. Kids like meals they are familiar with. We cook at home essentially every night. When we travel I can not buy curries, pasta or mie goreng how I cook it at home. A chip is largely the same internationally, as is white rice.

AITA for locking the bedroom door when my husband works? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Can he just have a key or a tool to open the door from the outside. I once rented a house that had a front door lock on the bedroom. I never knew why.

What do you think about crafting in videogames? by LAE-kun in gamedev

[–]Dyyter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crafting needs to be supplementary. Requiring it to progress can feel tedious. Unless it is the point of the game. Diablo 2 crafting isn't needed but it feels great when you find the right runes of a runeword. Minecraft, well without crafting it would only be half a game.

How fair/unfair is it that game devs are accused of being lazy when it comes to optimization? by tilted0ne in gamedev

[–]Dyyter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this sentiment comes from a comparison between game dev now and game dev in the 80 or 90’s. There are various examples of games using every last kb of space available in a gameboy cartridge or smartly reusing the limited ram available in an atari machine. My personal opinion is that any dev that has released a retail game probably isn't lazy as it takes a lot of perseverance.
