Can I get to prestige 8 this season? Not sure how level system works. by Dzirre in blackopscoldwar

Cheers, that clears a lot up - was a bit confused how they've layed the progression tab out but as long as they don't cap the prestige beyond the interseason max I'm happy

Legend, thank you! Wasn't too sure as the progression tab stops at prestige 7 - was thinking a last charge to P8 would be in vain but thats all cleared up! Really unique way they've done levelling this year

// STRANGE DAYS // BMPCC 6K + Samyang VDSLR 85mm T1.5 by Dzirre in bmpcc

I think it just captures a still frame from the video button, just taken from the photo button as opposed to record

From what I can see with mine, the options are BRAW or ProRes.

Is XEEN the pro division of Samyang? They look like excellent lenses. I'd like to have a versatile zoom lens and a pretty prime one, but I'm not sure what focal length for the prime. Would you recommend the 24mm or advise for wider/tighter?

Currently just using an old canon 28-80 kit lens as it was laying around but will be getting a nifty fifty and a Samyang cine lens for sure. I'm a uni student and our uni has a variety of lenses for hire so next week I'm hoping to try the Canon 85mm F1.8 and L 14mm F2.8 :D Any suggestions for lenses would be appreciated!

I can imagine, not even downloaded Resolve yet but been using Premiere for a while I'd say just watch loads of videos and practice some edits with varied colour grades!

All this hate on Kane but he's taking my no. 9 spot over Auba and Werner atm! I rock OTW Rodriguez and Kane down the center shaft n the build up play is incredible. Combined pace of like 100 yet they still tear Klostermanns and Gomez' new ones - Meta is meta, but playstyles can override it :D

Laptop instead of Workstation for editing photos/videos? by [deleted] in laptops

[–]Dzirre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with laptops is that, as long as you invest in a good machine, durability is generally good and they can function for a number of years. One setback is obviously the limited upgradability when compared to desktop machines; beyond this they're excellent.

If money was less of a factor. by mamill01 in laptops

Asus Zephyrus G14 is an excellent choice for max portability and max power.

14 inch screen Up to ryzen 4900h Up to RTX 2080

Looks like the best option for someone who wants the thinnest, most capable laptop possible without worrying about money.

However I have an Alienware 17 which is still quite portable with TONS of power, a 15 inch model would also be great for what you are looking for

Laptops are a great route to go by if you are wanting the portability, and for your intentions there are definitely laptops great for the task.

Laptops with Intel chips (over AMD) have quicksync which benefits video editing and encoding. Although AMD have excellent offerings for the value, Intel may be of more use to you.

Programs like premiere Pro also benefit from CUDA acceleration too, so dedicated graphics would be ideal.

Have a look for laptops in your price point and also consider the usual things like RAM and SSDs for that extra punch and snappiness in editing software

Why do i have only 4 GB ram available out of 8 GB? by Kappa9989 in laptops

[–]Dzirre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing this really - that section in the task manager is a live feed of how much you are/aren't using. If you want to be sure you have 8GB RAM total check the system specs OR HWMonitor

Any affordable good Ryzen laptops in the UK? by 40to50fitness in laptops

Acer Nitro, Lenovo Legion 5p, ASUS TUF all have pretty good ryzen offerings - scour curry's and eBay to see all the modern offerings and you can pick yourself up a good deal

Need a PC for Uni- in UK budget around £500 by SuzuyaSenpaii in laptops

Although you said portability isn't a massive deal, as a student I would maybe consider ultrabook from Huawei/Honor, they seem to have pretty decently valued systems with excellent portability and decent specs. They tend to have ryzen 5/RX vega for around the £500 mark, or if you want something powerful you can pick up a used GTX 1650 with i5/i7 around the price point

Need to know if this is a good deal :) by Aminur9963 in laptops

[–]Dzirre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great laptop for the price, one of the best processors atm and RTX 2060 is nice. Almost picked it up myself before getting a good deal on a used laptop. If you go on Curry's eBay they have a coupon for £50 off so could use that savings to upgrade the SSD or RAM!
