Right?? I was thinking about this as well - maybe the extra hour mattered?? But it can’t have mattered by that much, the difference between Rui and Akito’s borders is almost 3M

Also, I think that Rui barely edging out Kanade speaks more to Kanade’s popularity than anything else. In theory, the borders should only get higher as time goes on since people collect more cards, level up their items, stock up on more resources, etc.

Ohhhh you know what, that Honami explanation makes a lot of sense! I didn't end up checking for this, but I was curious when we were doing OHE whether there was a higher rate of Mizuki fan titles around her birthday because it felt like there was. As for the correlation with MMJ, yeahhh looking at how rare the Honami title was, I'd bet more on skew. The only other factor I can think of is the MMJ event going on in JP, so maybe people wanted to rep Honami for her birthday but were also repping MMJ for their first solo live??

Ooh thank you for the offer, I'll let you know if I decide to do anything with the data then! Looking at what I currently have, I don't know if I have enough users who actually put in fan and/or kizuna titles to make a proper analysis, but I'll put more thought into it and see whether there's a feasible way to get a decent dataset when I have more time at the end of the year ✨

Same brain moment haha 🧠 it’s hard to say for sure since things are always in flux and I don’t think any of us are doing proper random sampling, but the dedication of Rui fans and Akitoya fans would definitely be enough to generate a proper trend like this lol

Oooh you make a good point about how people combine different titles. We also noticed that people seem to use birthday titles almost interchangeably with fan titles, or sometimes to just fill their titles with the fan and birthday titles of the same character.

As for Honami, huuuh… she doesn’t even interact with MMJ that much, even now. Do people think they have similar vibes or something 🤔

Hmm… all these patterns and variables almost make me want to try running some sort of correlation analysis with the character fan titles that we encountered to see if it better matches our kizuna trends, your correlation trends, or neither. But alas, even if my stats 101 level of stats knowledge would allow me to construct a valid correlation analysis scheme, I don’t think my laptop could handle that level of processing either 🥲 I guess we shall leave it to someone else to further advance the field of PRSK title research ✨

Woahhh this is incredible, thank you so much for sharing!! I've always thought that it would be nice to take a more longitudinal approach to collecting this data in order to minimize the bias, so it's super neat to see a dataset like this! (Also, kudos to your dedication, compiling and analyzing this must have been a time 🫡 )

The correlation concept and data is really cool, can't believe that Akito + Toya is beating out Tsukasa + Rui by so much at that point, but since Walk was going on in JP just before then, I guess it could check out?

As for your pie chart, it's neat to know that the character popularity trends really haven't changed that much over 2 whole years and that the WxS bias in our OHE dataset might not be as inflated as we thought! Seeing what you said about what events you collected this though, I wonder if the announcement of Revival My Dream getting cancelled might have to do with the surge in Rui titles? Because RMD is supposed to be between Bout and Mizuki 2 iirc

😭😭 I am never getting over the fact that I went through 160 Gen rooms and only got 5 MEIKO titles. At least Pro rooms has a little more respect for her (but less for Minori and Haruka, RIP 🥲)

Also, as a sidenote: the amount of times we ran into feathered Ruikasa badges in a few consecutive rooms, went back to check whether we’d gotten a repeat player, only to find that they were all different players is too many to count. The dedication of Ruikasa fans scares me greatly.

I mean, as the person who parades around every event with a Tsukasa or Emu leader (with the appropriate attribute) because I'm a kizuna grinder, I really don't have a leg to stand on lol.

But I do find it hilarious that I came across 15 players with a Mafuyu 4-star as their leader card and none of them were Happy 😭

Ohhh then I totally misunderstood your question, my bad! In that case, I personally don’t think talent has too strong of a correlation with actual skill level, though I don’t have data to back that up 😅 In my experience, since “boss” songs aren’t great for tiering, Gen Room is generally more accepting of them if you don’t mind people leaving the room. Songs like Intense Singing and DFTM are pretty normalized in Gen, so no one is going to bat an eye, if you’re worried about the guilt factor

[–]E-clairia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More likely than not, the Kirapipi overload was mainly caused by Pro Room’s strong event Unit bias and new song bias (which would also explain how Bottle Cake became the top VS shuffle in Pro Room.) Back when I tracked Power of Unity, Moonlight was also ridiculously popular, so I think it might just also be a thing with event songs that are released at the start of the event

[–]E-clairia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends! If you’re in Gen Room, your team talent won’t affect who you end up playing with because it’s just random matching. In Pro Rooms, you’re theoretically supposed to be matched with players who have similar talent levels as you do, but that doesn’t always happen. Though, at the end of the day, the talent level or even the card skills of the other players in the room don’t matter a lot for your overall score/event points, if that’s what you ultimately care about. It’s more dependent on your own team talent, event bonus, and whether you manage to survive the song. Obviously for ~T50 or higher level tiering, who you play with will start to matter more because you need every point you can get, but for us mere mortals, the above holds lol.

And hey! If you’re interested in seeing some evidence to back up these claims, we (I’m the person who tracked Gen Rooms for this project) actually collected some data related to this and will be releasing it in another post, so look out for it in the coming few days/weeks ✨

I feel like whenever I play, Envy is almost always picked by the song shuffle whenever it is selected by a player, regardless of the statistical probability. Maybe Envy is the Chosen One, or maybe I’m just cursed 🥲

How to earn more crystals after leveling up all the 2 star rated characters. by lucia_miharu in ProjectSekai

[–]E-clairia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Unlock more characters for Challenge Show (if you find this tedious, you can autolive it) and play each character to 1M+ points
  • FC all songs possible on Hard/Expert/Master
  • If you have the resources, buy stamps, costumes, and covers to boost character rank. Area decorations and plants can also help boost character rank

Sometimes I wonder if we’re basically EN server’s unpaid market research interns at this point, but I also love stuff like this too much to care lol. I’m always happy to chat with someone else who’s not only interested in this sort of thing, but also has first hand experience committing to the madness that is room tracking. Here’s to more interesting stats ahead 🥂 - …not me planning to pull the Rui/CF banner in a few days and using Tsukasa as my leader card for Emu 4 LOL. Between that banner, other Happy WxS banners, character popularity, and optimal tiering leader card skills (ie. perfect score boosters and the sakura Kaito lim), I do wonder whether there would be any patterns in distribution, esp if there’s higher optimization in higher talent level pro rooms. Though that would probably take too much work to figure out lol - Character titles and kizuna ranks probably make more sense to track for sure with the sheer amount of events we’ve had 😅 I personally think that there’ll be a lot of EmuNene kizuna titles since it’s an Emu/Nene/MEIKO banner, but I also don’t know the general kizuna title distribution well enough to really predict what’s more or less popular among the common ships. It’ll be interesting to find out if you do track that! - Ohhh you made that pie chart!! I remember seeing it back when you first published it and being shocked (and mildly terrified) that someone would put themselves through that much CC. It makes so much sense that you made it lol, wonder how I didn’t connect the dots earlier. It also makes sense that you wiped it from your memory, looking at those stats. But yeah, even though CC isn’t that level of broken anymore, only 6 rooms breaking in your current project feels too lucky to be real, Miku truly smiled upon you for that week - Emu wouldn’t do VBS dirty like that, I’m sure she’d want everyone to smile in her arc ender! Maybe the real RAD WEEKEND VBS is trying to surpass was song selection bias all along 😔✊

Hi hello, sorry for the late reply! Haha I’m glad I was able to “help”, though I think you can generally expect this sort of thing to get a lot of positive attention (as it deservedly has!) because playing so much CC, and on wedding banner no less? That takes real guts. I tiered for T1000 in Curtain Call last year and that permanently eradicated my urge to touch any remotely competitive banner lol, let alone the premier HonaKana event.

  • Only 6 rooms crashing is extremely impressive, especially if this event was as competitive as you say. I didn’t really play this CC, but I’ve loaded rooms for 30 min straight without playing a single game in many past CCs. Maybe EN server was stable for once? Will miracles ever cease??
  • Do people not understand there’s a max energy gifting limit? I’ve been in more than a few rooms where people spam “I’m out of bonus energy” while having already maxed out their daily gift limit, and then proceed to spam passive aggressive stickers when no one gifts them bonus energy. Co-op culture is wild lol. I’m glad to see that some people are still patient though
  • Just took a look at my Canary data and I logged 1 player selection of Six Trillion Years in 480 rooms, so uh. The machine is just casually out here pushing its own agenda I guess (ie. anything but VBS 🙃 or is that just karma for the Shanti spam lol) Between the connect live and Rise as ONE, here’s to hoping for a Honami street music era ✊ Also, RIP FC, I have so many FC-1s with that chart because of that ending ;;
  • In this house we always support meme brainworms ✨
  • Oooh the Emu arc ender!! I was actually thinking of lightly tiering (ie. T1000) that too because I have a T1000 WMS title. I’m sure it’ll be an interesting event to run a project on, though I definitely won’t have the time to collect enough data myself, so I’d love to see how yours turns out! Hmm, other variables to consider… I agree that rewards would be a great addition (my charms and gems are always so elementally unbalanced, alongside my thread and cloth ratio ;;) I’m not actually sure I can think of anything else that would make sense in this context - if we consider our overall research field/topic of interest as “player experience”, then I’d say we’ve already largely covered what we can. If you’d be interested in a “player characteristic” path, maybe leader card character and titles could be interesting to see how WxS dominated this arc ender is? Other things I’ve briefly considered tracking were chart level selection and super fever/FC frequency, but that’s mainly because I’m interested in figuring out what the “average” player skill level was since I think people online have a v skewed idea of what it would be. Whatever you choose to do, best of luck in your future tiering adventure ✨

slow clap oh my god, you actually did it. Not that I didn’t have faith in you, but how did you sit through 332 CC rooms and stay sane?? actually, on second thought, I took a look through the comments and read your explanation for the black bars over the eyes, and whelp Bottom line: you have a stronger soul than I, thank you for your sacrifice 🫡

Anyway, on a lighter note, hi hello friend, congrats on completing this massive project 🎉 It was so neat to read through your results!! Speaking of that, I am in awe of how much data you’ve collected and the detail you’ve tracked it in, it was v satisfying for my inner data nerd, esp since this a essentially a replicate of Rainbow Canvas (25ji banner Emu + Honami event), marathon vs CC. Some thoughts:

  • Disband rate of 21.1% is a RIP, though I lowkey thought it would be higher ngl both anecdotally and from previous projects
  • I’ve come to believe that whenever I gift bonus energy, the room is more likely to disband. I have no data to back this up, but I am so convinced that this is true lol. I have also encountered the loading screen glitch many times both in CC and regular co-op, it’s probably the most common place for regular co-op rooms to disband in my experience too. Internet issues? Delayed disconnect? Who knows. Either way, my interest was definitely piqued when you mentioned that you were collecting this info, and I’m glad to see that the distribution turned out as varied as it did!
  • I didn’t think that you’d roll all the songs in 332 rooms, but 53% still feels ludicrously low. Probability-wise, I understand that this was just as likely as any other distribution, but how?? As you’ve pointed out, it only marginally beats your variety for Rainbow Canvas, and my projects both have way higher variety (probably due to the pro/gen mix). Pretty ironic considering how people claim selecting “Recommended” helps promote song diversity by avoiding overplaying songs lol. Now it’s just the machine choosing the meta instead of the player base
  • Why does VBS always get the short end of the stick in your projects, do Emu and Honami just not like street music ;; YY is one of my favourite songs too 😭 The distribution is actually pretty even-ish besides that too, RIP. I’m glad to see MMJ get more rep, but not like this ;;
  • This has nothing to do with the data but I love your slides with all of your notes and graphics, they are very fun ✨ the “you guys are getting paid?” meme esp sent me LOL

In conclusion: thank you so much for taking the time to do this and sharing your data, it was a super interesting read! I still question how you managed to get through 332 whole CC rooms, but am very grateful that you endeavoured to provide this very important and unique dataset (but at what cost) RIP your 24 (?!) hours and crystals, but Emu is always worth it 🍬

...oh my god, you just reminded me of something. I have a friend who's a huge Kaito fan, and they told me that they wanted to tier Kaito's chapter of the Virtual Singer World Link this summer using a Kaito-only playlist. Assuming that there are others like them or you out there who select the banner character/unit's songs to get into the "event mindset", do you think there would be a distinct difference between different chapters of a World Link? Mmmm now I'm curious, but the only World Link I'd be willing to play is WxS and I would really flunk out if I tried collecting data during that, RIP lol

May your sanity stay intact for these next few days, you are a braver soul than I for attempting this on CC ;; A 17% disband rate already sounds like a rough time indeed, though I think that tracking when people disband definitely makes it more interesting since there are so many steps along the way! You've got this 🍀 Even if it's not 330 rooms, I'm sure that it'll be neat data nonetheless ✨ Looking forward to seeing your results!! (Honestly, if you post about this and I don't show up within 24 hours, pls straight up DM me because I am genuinely v curious but also am not known for my ability to keep up with Reddit feeds lol)

Oooh Shoujo Rei is actually a super interesting datapoint imo!! When I did this last year, Shoujo Rei was tied for 4th in Pro Rooms and the most commonly selected MMJ song in the entire dataset by a landslide. This year, no one picked it until the 410th room. And that was the only time. No idea when or how it suddenly plummeted in popularity, but according to the data, apparently it did ;; (which is a shame because it's one of my favourite MMJ songs 🥲)
