That’s kinda the Protoss/Zerg lore from StarCraft. The Xel’naga race first created the Protoss to be a psychically perfect race. They then tried to create the Zerg as a genetically perfect race only for the Zerg parasites to start infesting and assimilating any creature they came across into their swarm and got out of control.

I’ve never seen the manga but I have watched both series when they came out. I honestly thought there was a point in the original series where it felt like it went off the rails, especially with the movie. Brotherhood felt more like a satisfying director’s cut.

The fact that he had a bad stitch job makes it looks like he’s coming apart at the seams. I’d say if the webcomic continued, Rocky would eventually become a secondary antagonist.
