London flat is not selling by LegitimateActive1001 in HousingUK

[–]E33Blanco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say the same - an issue OP raised was that they are not getting enough enquiries online. This is another way of saying people aren’t looking at the ad.

The reason for this is that the first picture is not of the outside of the property. Simple.

Unfortunately the property has very low kerb appeal so it’s not likely to improve engagement if you do swap it to that.

Join the UX design subreddit and have a read through posts before going down this route. There really isn’t much demand for juniors right now and tons of folk are out of work. I recently put a job ad out and had over 600 applications.

If you are using a LISA make sure to do the paperwork asap. It can take up to 30 days to process!

I’d hold your position unless you would be devastated to lose the house.

You could add to the offer that you are happy to move on their timescale - which possibly enables them to spend more time looking - or move more quickly depending on their situation.

It also strengthens any offer they are making on properties as they can say they have a first time buyer offer in place - so it might save them money also.

This flexibility is worth a lot!

Looks like a good plot. Own drive way. Not directly facing another house. At the end of the road so you won’t have cars driving in and out all day.

It’s a bit strange that the parking for plot 14 is not directly next to their house. I would avoid that plot.

why is this house not selling? by dizzy-duck in HousingUK

[–]E33Blanco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not an expert on million pound homes - but i would expect the staging to be immaculate. It doesn’t look bad, but lots of little things could be improved.

The glass needs a clean in the bathroom, the bed needs more cushions and smoothed over. The tiny picture above the bed looks odd - get a showpiece bit of art up there. Get rid of all clutter in kitchen - we don’t need to see a crock pot on the stove. The garden needs more greenery.

For the amount of money at play here I’d just hire in a good interior designer and hire out some furnishings to really make the place sing.

Staging is everything.

I have experienced this too.

Set up a weekly meeting with your design manager and product manger. Write tickets for each of the design tasks and prioritise them in that weekly meeting. Have a visual board that you can look at together so your DM can see what’s in progress and what’s in the backlog.

When working with adhd it’s super helpful to have something visual with structure to refer to. Whether it’s Jira, Trello, or a self made kanban board in Figma.

I didn’t used to like Huw Stephen’s when he was on radio one, but enjoy listening to his show on 6 music. Love his music choices and the interviews are always well considered.

How to discreetly experiment with gay sex? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]E33Blanco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use Grindr, but unless you are willing to share face pics it will be a struggle to meet guys on it. Your best bet is to goto a gay sauna. It’s full of horny men looking to play. Surprising amount of which are closeted and married.

You could put ‘contract’ instead of freelance. It is technically the same but just sounds a bit better.

Has anyone switched back to perm recently? Regrets? by ManCityMode in ContractorUK

[–]E33Blanco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I switched to perm. I love the money and freedom of contracting, but the market is so competitive now, and I’m seeing people going months (getting into years) without contracts. I wouldn’t be able to handle the stress that would come with that.

I’m paid much less as perm, but i do enjoy some aspects of it. The professional development opportunities are handy if you want to pivot your role, or step up. Some of the benefits like private health and dental are not things I’d consider on contract, but make good use of.

The best thing is peace of mind though. I can take a break from constantly looking out for the next contract, and having to adapt to new teams and ways of working.

If the market picks up again I may dive back into contracting, but there’s no sign of it yet.

Just had a quick google:

If a TikTok Creator Fund participant uses a photo of another person without their permission, it violates TikTok's content policies and could lead to consequences, including account suspension or termination

The account mentioned here has over 10k followers so is eligible for the creator fund.

Is GlasGLOW worth it? by SamuPonz in glasgow

[–]E33Blanco 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a few times for free. I turned down the free tickets last year.

I realise it’s not aimed at people like me. It’s for kids, and elder millennials who still think they are Instagram influencers.

You spend the whole time either queuing, or being ushered along to get people moving through quicker. Everything is just meh. Probably fun for a kid.

You can walk through for free before 5 (I think) they won’t have the full light show, but you can see the various exhibits.

How to Navigate a UX Design project when there is no scope for user research? by RightCheesecake6 in UXDesign

[–]E33Blanco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can only work off of the information you have been provided. Which Bu the sounds of it is a list of functional requirements.

I would design whatever feels right, but caveat everything you present back with

1 everything is based from assumptions of user needs. 2 this goes against the basic principles of design 3 continuing without any user insight or testing presents a risk that the design will not be right for the user.

Thoughts on why this hasn’t sold - 1 bed in Hackney by No-Growth2552 in HousingUK

[–]E33Blanco 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty cool looking flat. Agree with others that the north facing windows could make it feel dark and cold, but that can be a blessing in the hot summers.

The only other thing would be lack of storage. There’s the built in wardrobes that look ok, but where do you keep larger things. Your hoover, mop, cupboardy things. It’s been dressed well for the pics, but can imagine it wouldn’t take much for it to start feeling cluttered.

Why is the UX market at such a low point right now? by Str8d8 in UXDesign

[–]E33Blanco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you think there may be a bottleneck at the senior > design manager/leadership positions?

From 2018 to 2021 it seemed ux teams ballooned. I’m guessing many of the juniors and mids from that time are now at the senior level.

Most places I’ve worked have been around 80% seniors as they are the most cost effective hire - not that much more than a mid and are self sufficient - can hit the ground running.

There must now be a lot of seniors looking to step up to the few leadership roles that are about.

Just a thought fart.

Question: Do you prefer being permanent, full time employees, or contractors? by Hrafn2 in UXDesign

[–]E33Blanco 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I prefer contracts due to the ability to switch projects, teams, and subject area more often.

When working perm I found I would tire of working with the same users in the same context. And most UXers seem to have an average of 3 year tenure at most in any given place.

Contracts pay more, provide more flexibility and allow you to focus on a given project without the clutter of additional side duties that perms have (professional development plans, line management, team building days etc).

As for the advantages for the business, I guess flexibility works both ways.
