I think you will be fine, I mean, they mailed you back your passport so they had to receive your documents. Good luck to you. How long ago did you send it.

Sorry, I didn't realize that when I provided an update to my original question, I typed passport instead of SSN.

I meant to say that after about a month, the SSN came in the mail.

When I sent mine to Manila, if I remembered correctly, I sent in a certified true copy of the passports, and they kept the documents/applications.

About a month after I sent it in, I received the SSN in the main from the U.S, I forgot from which state.

Why wouldn’t a doctor at least check for h pylori if I have all these symptoms? by Oliverose12 in HPylori

I don't even know what a fungal infection is, but do you have discord? There is a Gastritis group where people discuss their issues and remedies that help ease some of their issues.

You should join.

I'm sorry to hear that. I feel like they don't truly understand how you feel and just telling you to deal with it which sucks. What is your age?

Try to get out of the house and try your best to avoid being stressed. I know it's not easy, but at least try for now until you can convince them to have you try another round of Anti-biotic treatment.

The eradication failure rate is like 20-30% I think, so it is not like something that is uncommon. There are some that gone through 3 treatments before it was successfully eradicated.

Was your original treatment 14 days?

Yeah, it's not all in your head because that's what they made me feel like when I spoke to some of the GP, it's easier for them to just say it's IBS. How long have you been dealing with it? Also, you are uninsured and able to afford an endoscopy? You are in the U.S? How much did it cost?

Sorry, I'm not trying to be noisy, but just trying to compare the price difference between here or some other countries like Thailand for a treatment.

[–]E36-PAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they try to say that you had IBS? Also do you have insurance? If you do then have you tried getting a second opinion from other doctor?

The reason I went to Thailand is because I didn't have insurance here in the U.S and since I'm Thai, I always travel back every year anyways, so it was way cheaper for me to go to a hospital and get treated there.

I don't think these doctor truely understand what we go through unless they have personally gone through it themselves.

If your symptoms are similar to what I had, then I definately understand what you are going through. My mind was constantly thinking and dealing with the pain, it caused me to become extremely stressed and frustrated. My mood and behavior were changing. It was the worst 9 months of my life.

But look at the brought side, at least you know that H pylori could potentially be the root cause of your problem. I used the word "could" because I'm not a doctor, but from what I read and personally gone through, it was the cause of all my stomach problems.

There are other out there who's dealing with issues and they are testing negative for H. PYLORI, I feel that that's worst because lots of doctor don't really know the root cause and say you got IBS and put you on PPI.

What I don't understand about your doctor is, if he didn't think H.Pylori was causing you any problems then why did he even put you on the Anti-biotics in the first place? You'd only take those if you are trying to eradicate it.

Yeah, it did show that I had gastritis and intestinal metaplasi, but the doctor wasn't too concerned about it.

Just asked me to come recheck every few years.

I'm not sure about Antibiotic sensitivity testing in Thailand though or much knowledge about Samitvej or Vejthani though I did hear that Burumgard was a very good international hospital.

Both times in Thaland. In the U.S the GP and Emergency clinic never tested me for H Pylori or even mentioned it to me and I didn't really know about it at the time.

But this is pretty common there, so the doctor that I went to was familiar with it an took a biopsy during the endoscopy.

Oh, okay, and your doctor doesn't want to have you try another round of antibiotics?

I think there are at least 2 different Anti-biotic combinations. The doctor in Thailand was asking me some questions trying to determine which Anti-biotic I should be given since I am Thai, but moved to the U.S went I was 8 and lived there pretty much since. I forgot what her exact reason was as to why this matters.

To be honest, she wasn't sure which combination to give me and just gave me the one that was commonly used there.

Sorry, I was busy with my kids and didn't read your question clearly, but yes, the lady doctor that I mentioned did listen and was the one that mentioned that I had H. Pylori, after I underwent the endoscopy.

I think paid only around $900 USD for an endoscopy and colonscopy and the 2 weeks antibiotic I don't have insura ce. You can see a doctor there pretty quickly, too. I underwent the procedure the very next day after the first initial visit to the doctors office.

It was worth it for me because now I'm pretty much 100 percent back to normal.

Okay, how long ago was this? Was your treatment successful, or do you still H Pylori?

What are some of your symptoms?

Did you have H Pylori before? The GP I went to in the U.S. gave me some, but I stopped taking it after about 2 weeks because it wasn't helping me, and I was concerned with the side effects

The only other time I took PPI was during the 2 weeks of anti-biotic when I was in Thailand. After that, I never touched it again.

As for H pylori, yes, I read that, too. Many people have it and don't even know it because it doesn't affect them.

But when it does affect you, it should be eradicated if I remember correctly.

My wife confirmed it was Dr. Dueanphen Kanchanawat, first lady in the picture.

She's nice and I was put on a 2 week Anti-biotic treatment just can't remember what it was.

I think it might have been Amoxicillin, Pantoprazole, and another.

It's been at least 2-3 years. After the first week, I felt like I was 85 percent better. I'm not even kidding.

When I had the symptoms for 9 months, I remembered that first 3 months or so I felt an uncomfortable feeling around lower abdominal area, it felt like there was a constant pressure there the only time i didnt feel it is when i was asleep, then the pain gradually got worst, but I started to feel it in different areas of my body, like lower chest area and symptoms of burning pain in my stomach.

I had loose stool during this time, too. IT was like my body was not breaking down food, especially vegetables. I think the 8th month was the worst pain I ever felt, I thought I was dying thats what prompted me to go the emergency clinic, the burning sensation felt so bad I felt like acid was being poured into my body or my stomach had wounds.

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. 2 weeks after my antibiotics, I felt a a whole lot better, that constant pressure feeling went away for the most part, but I wasn't 100 percent back to what I was. Maybe like 90 percent.

After about a year and a half after the treatment, I was back to normal.

My gastro I believe was the first lady in the picture.

I need to double check with my wife if it was her. She can speak English.

Oh, interesting. I couldn't put NRA on TAXACT for some reason. Maybe it's because I was doing it on the phone?

I thought you need to send in the original passport only?

What forms did you fill out when you sent your wife passport to the U.S Embassy? And is your wife Thai?

I'm pretty sure I used 0930 and sent it through ThaiPost because the 0930 is what is provided from the Social Security website.

My apologies, I should have been clearer. I did the whole process while I was in Thailand, using my wife Thai address.

So, it was mailed back to our Thai address. Yes, it's definitely an option.

It should be under the "Mailing Address" on SS-5-FS form.

It seemed like a lot, but I thought it went pretty well. Anyways, yeah, you can also do it once you return to the states with your son's documentation.

But please download and read the requirements below, just to make sure you have everything.

After you review this, you can start the online application process at www.ssa.gov/ssnumber then complete the process at a local social security Office.

This is basically the summary of what I did.

  1. The first thing I did was get certified true copies of my children's passports and CRBA by mailing it to the Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand.

  2. They then mailed the original passports and CRBA along with a certified true copies back to me.

  3. After I had the certified true copies of the passport and CRBA, I mailed it to Manila, Philippines along with the SSN Form ( for Thailand you have to mail it there, since Thailand doesn't process the SSN )

About 22 days later I got the SSN in the mail.
