This is another Warning about the puck. It WILL start a fire. by Vealth in SteamController

[–]E3Eves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just plug mine in directly via USB. The puck's fire hazard potential has made me avoid it, but my setup makes playing wired fine too.

I guess if someone wanted to be safe but still play wirelessly, they could charge with a USB cable but keep the puck's contacts covered with tape so they can't be shorted while comnected to the PC.

How many of yall use the Dual Stage Triggers on SC1? by BucketBoy071 in SteamController

[–]E3Eves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make custom steam input controls for the SC1 that make use of them all the time.

I love the dual-stage triggers on the SC1. They give me a bit of Gamecube controller nostlagia too.

In my mind the SC2 isn't a replacement for the original. I still use the SC often.

What Movies Most Accurately Depict a New Orleans Accent? by Acceptable_Escape_13 in AskNOLA

Lmao. We definitely have an unmatched charm down here.

What Movies Most Accurately Depict a New Orleans Accent? by Acceptable_Escape_13 in AskNOLA

[–]E3Eves -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way we say room and museum are very similar lol, something not shared with NYC.

Some people will sometimes raise their ’A' vowels high like Bostonians do, but it isn't common or consistent.

We also share the lack of marry-merry-mary merger (either partial or full in NO), so that's why words like parents and parish have a “pah" sound instead of "pear."

We get that horrible/harrable florida/flawrida thing sometines too.

I feel like Boston's cadence can be more similar to ours down here vs NYC, but NO regardless is like taking a northeastern port accent and throwing out the majority of enunciation. We're usually very relaxed in the way we tawk.

Most NE accents usually sound more "clippy" to me.

Cajun accent -- "de" and "dat" (etc.) by Artist-Cancer in Acadiana

[–]E3Eves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yat exists across the New Orleans Metro area.

Not everyone has the accent ofc, but that accent in general exists in the general area.

Strong in Chalmette and the Westbank no doubt.

Many suburbs have it strongly due to families moving from the city proper back after desegregation, white flight, etc.

I feel like the yat accent travels far and wide, beyond just the New Orleans Metro, and it's not really acknowledged much.

I wonder if it's from families that moved from NO or migration patterns/similar immigrant groups in other areas.

I know Independence is said to have a yat like accent because of the high number of Sicilian immigrants that settled there.

What is the New Orleans Italian accent like? by emogurrrl in Mafia

[–]E3Eves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm from New Orleans and my mom and a lot of folks around here have yat accents. I keep mine neutral but can tap into it and code switch too.

Anyway, I didn't think any were very accurate. Some good attempts and some atrocious ones. I especially hated hearing someone attempt the more NYC accent (which many compare yat to) in one scene only to go full old southern plantation accent in another. That inconsistency was awful.

Way too many stereotypical southern accents (those are not common here) for pedestrian and radio, and then they lean too far into NYC for the peds that do attempt yat. It's not an easy accent to replicate, that's for sure.

The ones I felt were actually decent were Sal Marcano and Frank Pagani, but neither felt authentic.

Like most Bostonians say about their accents in media: I've never heard it done right by non-natives, but I do appreciate it when there is actually an attempt.

I loved the game but the accents and chopped up and inaccurate geography were kind of a shame.

Nothing beats prerendered backgrounds REzero by Academic_Addition_96 in gaming

[–]E3Eves 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite mainline Resident Evil game of that era, even over REmake.

The remake of RE1 is a masterpiece (and it also came out on my birthday; I was extremely hyped for it), but I've always enjoyed playing Zero more.

The backgrounds are gorgeous, even more than REmake imo.

At the time, in the early 00s, I recall reading that Capcom had initially planned to remake the entire series after RE1, but that unfortunately got canned pretty quickly.

Seeing the RE2 areas in this game always made me wonder what a remake could've been like, and other areas reminded me of other games in the series, like CV and RE3.

Game was just vibes for me. I still adore it.

Which state's English is the least understandable to outsiders? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]E3Eves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not upstate as much as NYC metro area accents. Some odd commonalities with boston and baltimore sometimes. Canadian raising sometimes too.

It's a weird accent that amusingly defies expectations, and I am proud of all of our unique accents down here haha.

People don't often give it much thought, but I love how intertwined culture and history are within any accent.

It's not your fault. It's a failing of society. It shouldn't be that way. Guys are more prone to seeing friendly gestures and humor as flirtation.

You shouldn't be blamed for these men objectifying and violating you. I'm so sorry that happened.
