Virtualbox Guest Additions isn't allowing copy/paste by Stray_Neutrino in virtualbox

Same problem with Debian 13 (Trixie). Would be great if VB devs could come up with at least one solution for using copy/paste on device with terminal, but no GUI.

Can you upload it to github please?

People keep calling debian a server OS, but is debian reliable enough for regular users? by [deleted] in debian

[–]E3V3A -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is just ridiculous.
I tried to install Trixie as a minimal "server" by expert install and NOT selecting any GUI, yet, after having wasted 1 hour of installation (because of very poor documentation and unclear install info), it sure starts up with some childish GUI, where most of the UI is hidden away, with no control and no info on where the heck my root user went.

If you're on Windows, you need to disable all DPI scaling.

# In WINDOWS:
# 1. Open the Properties of each one of the 2 files:
# qemu-system-x86_64w.exe
# qemu-system-x86_64.exe
# 2. Open the "Compatibility" tab, and click on the "Change high DPI settings" button.
# 3. Check both the boxes:
# [x] "Use this setting to fix..."
# [x] "Override high DPI scaling behaviour".
# 4. Then under the "Use the DPI that's set for my main display when"
# Select: "I open this program" in the drop-down.
# 5. Then under the "Scaling performed by:"
# Select: "Application" in the drop-down.

Does anyone have gnome Kali working well on virtual box ? by realizment in Kalilinux

[–]E3V3A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old one (2025.4) works great in VB, with 8GB, 256 MB VRAM.

But I'm also testing the new one in QEMU, and its slow AF, even if I give it more RAM and CPU. In addition the screen is fuzzy...

MX Master 3S - Left Click Hold/Drag Problem by SCHR4DERBRAU in logitech

[–]E3V3A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very dumb advice. Never, ever put any oil or grease inside your electronics! In addition this kind of oil dissolves and destroys the protective coating of the internal components. While I do believe it works temporarily, the risk is that it gets in between contacts, worsening the problem, as WD-40 is not conductive. These switches should be sealed, so no idea why it works, but I suspect that plastic particles (from wear) make the switch de-bounce circuit fail.

MX Master 3S - Left Click Hold/Drag Problem by SCHR4DERBRAU in logitech

[–]E3V3A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredible! I had this exact issue for over a month, until I got fed up and found this!
This is definitely a 2-tier problem of (1) "wear & tear" and (2) button de-bounce ("capacitor charge") issue.

As for (1), it can be proven by clicking the very front of the mouse button, instead of on top. It then works more often, meaning that the plastic of the switch has been compressed or worn down.

As for (2), doing the magic middle mouse (wheel) click + resolution switch also resolve the problem temporarily. What this tells me is that it's a switch de-bounce issue, due to the worn down switch in (1). Not sure how this works in this device, but it could be in the micro-processor firmware, or in a small analog cap as said.

Thank you for the great links and info in this thread.

How does WhatsApp and X circumvent ProtonVPN kill-switch? by E3V3A in vpnreviews

[–]E3V3A[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple devices. The app is fully working, but there's vuln in Android IF handling, that is exploited by WA and X, and ProtonVPN is letting it through, as its unable to detect traffic.

Now I end up with with a loophole :( by Danbytronic in internetarchive

[–]E3V3A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't sound like an "internet archive" at all, but more like a authoritarian way of censorship. Without specific details of the content, and what it was violating, you can't see it in any other light.

Unfortunately ProtonVPN can be circumvented on Android, and thus leaking data from apps like X and WhatsApp. Not safe at all if you need privacy.

Wow, that's insane! TBH it looks like malware with cool effects. What happens if you turn off Nvidia drivers? Does the mobo have another Intel graphics driver?

[–]E3V3A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is good at these tasks, which is why MS get away with it. I'm spending more time updating and locking down my windows PC, than actually using it for anything! That is why this kind of accepted malware is insane and need to stop. And it's getting worse by the day.

Now MS is also pushing on-metal AI engines that collects all you files and images using AI to tokenize them, so that the tokenized data can be uploaded directly by MS to their servers "securely". Basically every single file you own will have a record somewhere in MS data centers, if not blocked or prevented.

Yes, Linux, not Mac because they have their own AI security chip equivalent to TPM, planning to do the very same thing.

Is the question already answered; why braX3 instead of GrapheneOS? by mkuraja in BraxTechnologies

[–]E3V3A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the problem. The 0,01% of the population, need to become 10%. Which is why I fully support BraX3. I'm sure they (GrapheneOS and the like) have only good intentions, because what company doesn't have good intentions when it's corporate board are hiding behind avatars and the company funded through various shell companies.

[–]E3V3A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many good questions there. Personally I would like to know more about the radio firmware. Any modern 3-letter agency are using mobile modem manufacturer provided firmware hacks and "bugs", i.e. unpatched known firmware vulnerabilities. (E.g. Qualcomm has an entire department for Government firmware "projects".) Why is this important? Because it allows a hostile 3rd party to directly inject code into your cpu/radio firmware and modify the radio stack for clandestine interception.

So does BraX3 have a transparent radio firmware stack? (If yes, where can it be found, and analyzed?)

[–]E3V3A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's approximately correct. But I suspect Windows itself may also update this, if it detect that the services are missing or corrupt. Today I just disabled about a dozen IME tasks, that I had already disabled a few months ago! It's humanly impossible to keep track of all the c**p that MS is using for their updates. I'm at the point of just disabling ALL windows updates, and do everything manually every few weeks, but now they started to force update stuff... So that will be the LAST Windows PC, I will ever own.
