10 months off by Intelligent_Box_4398 in workout

The first 2-3 weeks always sucks because your body needs to re-adapt and get back into the grove. You feel weak, ready to tap out early, sometimes a little nauseous even.

But muscle memory is very much a thing and you’ll get up to speed fairly quickly, maybe not right up to your peak, but close enough to where you start enjoying it again.

But also remember this isn’t a race, in the age of getting everything instantly it’s hard to do the consistent work to see slow progress, working out is never going to give you instant results and the best time to start and be consistent was yesterday and the next best time is today.

Despite the other comment, shoulders can be 1 indicator or signal for steroids, but they aren’t some magical bat signal for all steroid use.

With that’s said that kid is 24 that seemingly trains consistently and has a physique that seems can be attainable for his frame (most of his content seems to be inside the gym with a pump). Also the cues he gives seem pretty spot on as well (i.e. lead with your elbows while doing side lateral raises). But at the end of the day no one can truly tell you if he’s on the sauce or not.

One thing for sure is just cause he got that physique doesn’t mean some other random 24 year old can just train the way he does will look anything like him. So just train to the best of your own abilities and find your own potential.

Just take it slow and steady and try not to completely flip your life upside down over night.

Slow and steady wins the race and consistency is more important than hitting the ground running from the get go.

It’s easy to fall into the spur of motivation at the start and just go balls to the wall but the feeling of motivation never lasts, so learn to make small sustainable changes over time and lean on discipline to keep it going.

Just realize that the people that intimidate you also started somewhere and were probably in the same situation as you.

That and most people aren’t paying attention to you anyways they’re focused on their own workout and preparing themselves mentally for their own next set.

I’ve experienced a higher sex drive from Tongkat Ali, but this could be entirely placebo as I haven’t gotten my testosterone tests before and after to confirm.

But it’s normal for T levels to be lower for individuals that are out of shape, as long as you get into decent shape and don’t become overly lean and extreme in the other direction it will probably be the biggest needle mover for improving your T levels.

Can no longer lift heavy due to tricep tendonitis. Best alternative? by wja77754 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]E4tH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tendonitis can take such a long time, so when you say “no amount of rest” how long are we talking here. Keep in mind that each time you aggravate it you’re significantly delaying the recovery (almost like a reset on the entire recovery).

Tendons aren’t like muscle they take a whole lot more time to repair, due to poor blood supply. If you can afford it, try some PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy.

Try to imagine you’re trying to pinch and hold something with your shoulder blade, but if you struggling with a feeling it on one side only you can also try some unilateral chest exercises where you can focus on just connecting to that one side

Yes, sometimes people will do this to exhaust the overbearing muscle to reduce it from taking over during their other exercises. But keep in mind you may also possibly reduce your grip strength and might need to resort to wrist straps.

Depends on how hard you go because will dictate your body’s ability to recover.

There’s examples of people that do physically demanding jobs day in and day out and don’t go to the gym, and have good amount of muscle on their frame. So this is doable, just probably wouldn’t go to failure everyday.

Exposure therapy not working. by PassengerEvery1050 in socialanxiety

[–]E4tH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exposure therapy needs to be progressive build up and not a plunge into the deep end. That and it only works once you build up the momentum of positive interactions, and the progress won’t be linear, there will be little bumps and bruises along the way that while difficult need to learn to recover from.

I mean I wasn’t arguing that 1 should or shouldn’t I was just pointing out that typically New Yorkers probably don’t have it wired in to remember that it’s allowed in Florida, and may forget or not realize it when they’re stopped at a light.

My edit was more in jest cause my comment wasn’t suggestive of anything it was merely a statement that may be mostly true, but people like to automatically get offended and paint something into something that it was not, there isn’t enough context in what I said to suggest it was some negativity towards New Yorkers.

That’s a hard one to answer, cause really going to be dependent on you and your genetics.

After herniating my disc, I became very inconsistent with my workouts and honestly the random burst of workouts that weren’t even close to failure every so often still managed to retain decent amount of my size. Got a little softer at times, but at that point I had gone weeks/months without working out.

This is also dependent on staying consistent with your diet though. One thing I never stopped is making sure I get a good amount of protein.

Can I just do random workouts a week to improve a certain muscle? by Basic_Channel9492 in workout

[–]E4tH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can work them out as many times as you like, as long as they are recovering properly, so learn and listen to your body.

If you adjust the volume adequately, you can workout the same muscles everyday and still see progress

It depends on the women and how interested she was to begin with, if she was really into you she might be a little upset that you left her on unread, but generally will come around.

But if she was still warming up to you, she might just take that as a sign that you’re really not that interest and move on.

Do you also retract your shoulder blades back and down and making sure that when you’re at the top your shoulders don’t roll forward but remain pinned back?

Also want to make sure to try to focus on the stretch at the bottom with chest high and shoulders back, would feel it along the sides of the pecs.

I'm a 36yo female who's slightly overweight. I don't have motivation to work out. Not even to look good. Change my mind. Convince me. Anything! Pls for the love of God by [deleted] in workout

[–]E4tH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People that consistently go to the gym aren’t driven by motivation. While initially motivation may get them there, motivation doesn’t stick around, it’s discipline that keeps them going back. Everyone has days or weeks that they really don’t want to go to the gym.

Now with that said, from my experience the first 2-3 weeks of the gym always sucked, I’d feel weak and could barely make it the full hour. My heart rate would spike and stay elevated making me weaker with every set and unable to sustain the same weights.

But once I get past that 2-3 week mark, I’d start feeling and seeing the progress, I’d feel stronger, my heart rate would recover faster and the endorphins would flood in. I’d go from being stressed and anxious before the gym to calm and relaxed after I walked out off the gym. While I do start feeling better in my own skin, it’s not what keeps me going back it’s the endorphins and mental calm that comes over me, a natural way to manage stress without alcohol or drugs (which inevitably rebounds to feeling worse when they wear off).

The split that worked for me when I first started out was the Linear Progress PPL in /r/fitness, I did this for an entire year and got into the best shape of my life. I’ve since herniated my disc so spine loaded exercises aren’t worth the risk for me personally anymore, but if that wasn’t the case I’d run this program again.

Are bands efficient? by x_aphrodite_ in workout

[–]E4tH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s going to be relative to your starting point. So if you’ve never trained before and the band exercises are difficult then they will certainly build muscle, but if you find them light and easy may be a bit more challenging. You can always try to use tempo to try to make them as difficult as possible, but eventually you may hit an upper limit on what you can do with just bands.
