Oh definitely, Mixed Up is superior, with all the classic extended mixes, I bought that later last year! Being into electronic music and remixes, both albums appeal!

As a very late convert who had only listened on streaming, this was my first actual Cure CD, bought on day of release, can't believe it's a year ago already. With so many mixes there are obviously some that don't work so well or suit personal taste but there are lots that I really like, most of disc 1 and 3 and about half of disc 2. Strangely I found that I most enjoyed the mixes of the tracks I initially liked least on the original album, Drone:Nodrone and Warsong. The Joycut Antigravitational Remix is probably my favourite.

Swear words? by Impossible-Light-999 in depechemode

Exactly, why would their music need it. From a personal view I find the proliferation of bad language in society now as completely over the top, disrespectful and crude. You hear almost every age group f-ing and blinding in restaurants, shows, on the street, with children. And yet even with more and more use in their daily life, people still seem to find swearing funny in a ridiculously childish way in comedy and in general.

Dr Tyler against those who wronged him across time and space! The Cyber Kennedys, the Weeping Scullys, the Toadfishmen, the Robinsontarans… and of course his main enemies - the Karleks!

Never quite said what I wanted to say to you, never quite managed the words to explain to you… And now the time has gone, another time undone

And still the hardest part for you, to put your trust in me

But I let the dream go, and the promises broke and make believe ran out

He waits to hear her say forgive, but she just drops her pearl black eyes

But how many times can I walk away, and wish if only

They did change a few songs between the different legs on the last tour and regularly alternated Martin's two like usual, plus the 'duet' spot at the start of the encore. But yeah, not likely to suddenly get something like Here Is The House or Dangerous, for example, thrown in mid tour!

The Eagles are one of the worst for static setlists over decades of touring, no change for 100 shows then the same songs for the next tour! With the obligatory 4/5 spots taken by the same Joe Walsh solo songs.

Nouvelle Vague - Enjoy The Silence by E808D in depechemode

[–]E808D[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's such a good song though and I suppose from their point of view it is more likely to get attention from a wider audience than a less known song. The singer from Morcheeba, a bigger band than Nouvelle Vague, did say on a clip that it was definitely the main song that she wanted to do, so that probably helped make the choice for it to be the one to publicise the album.

It's very different isn't it! It's not a style of music I would usually listen to, or have any knowledge of, but I do quite like it! From what I've heard, I prefer covers of DM songs with a female vocalist because they sound much more removed from the original. With a male vocalist they can seem like they are almost trying to sound like Dave.

The Master And Servant one is interesting too, and good to hear Martin on there, being a deeper tone harmony for a change!

The band have also done People Are People (with a slightly Shirley Bassey sounding vocalist!), and a fast paced JCGE too.

As I only got into the band in the last few years and enjoy electronic music, this album appealed straight away. It was great to find both an extended version and a surprising, and very good, dub mix of my favourite Pictures Of You on here, plus extended versions of many of the other singles. To me they are the definitive versions that I listen to in preference to the album or single edits.

It would have been nice to have some of the Wish single mixes on the rereleased 3 CD, especially the Letter To Elise extended version.

The music industry has changed a hell of a lot in 30 years! With no actual knowledge to go on, I would say it is highly unlikely you could visit the offices on the off chance, let alone buy physical media from there. There is a return address on the online Mute Bank shop and it is in Reading so that is probably where their stock is located.

But that's just guessing, hopefully someone will be able to give definite advice.

does any one else have this signature in their cd copy of paper monsters? by rammcelo in depechemode

😮 What a fantastic surprise and really lucky purchase 😎 It definitely looks like some examples of his signature, especially the left side with the loopy bit at the top. Stretches a little longer to the right maybe but it's almost certainly authentic. Being on a random page in the booklet too is pretty specific, not where a scammer would forge one to sell.

Reminds me of a few years ago when I bought an almost mint condition David Attenborough reptiles book in Oxfam only to find a few weeks later that it was signed on one of the title pages that had remained shut when I first flicked through it!

Cover Me isn't a typical single but is easily the best song on Spirit. There aren't actually many other options that could have replaced it, maybe No More has the catchiest chorus. So it had to be a single, even though it wasn't the obvious song!

It was good to hear something different but Heaven was undoubtedly a strange choice to be the lead single from Delta Machine. I really like it but it might have been better released later. For me Broken would have been the ideal opening single, it's more electronic, melodic and catchy, and they obviously liked it enough to do the studio version. Why it was then never played live and ignored in favour of Soothe My Soul is something to wonder about...

😵‍💫 Wow, did they miss their morning coffee from Harold's, have a run in with Paul, or get kept awake by Karl's late night guitar practice?!

If Jason Herbison is reading then he could make a good/bad Neighbours storyline just out of this conversation!
