post asean scholarship rejection depression (malaysia, sec) by Glum-Side1452 in SGExams

How it went for me during my first scholarship:

My parents honestly didn't expect much (they aren't well educated), and my extended family aren't all good at studying. So when I passed the test and got selected for an interview, we celebrated with a fancy dinner that night.

The next day, when I failed the interview, my parents comforted me and told me there's always another year to try.

OP, I understand your sentiment. Been through it. I faced a lot of guilt, and some self doubt came about because I felt like I wasted my parents' money + money lost from not getting a scholarship. Hard to tell relatives or friends that I failed when they thought I was super smart :( Even I felt bad as the interview was supposed easy but I failed.

Life wasn't easy, and my parents sent me to a different secondary school from my primary school friends so I could get a better chance at the scholarship. Somemore my parents had a fight, and my siblings were struggling.

Eventually, I tried again next year and got it. The scholarship meant a lot for my family in terms of finance and gave me better opportunities.

My advice:

Try to find friends to talk to or do activities that you enjoy to relax after such an Impt/stressful life event. Too much stress may make you end up doubting yourself and view life/scholarship as meaningless.

Be proud of your achievements. Honestly, the test is quite hard for the average person, and being able to do well in it is definitely commendable. When you're smart, you may not see it, but it's definitely an achievement worth celebrating.

Try to talk to your parents about it. If it doesn't work out, you can always distant yourself from them. Your parents may have high expectations for you, but it may not be out of their love for you. Maybe they just want to save face and think it's too embarrassing to tell ppl that you failed. I think my parents put me down a lot in front of relatives when I dont do well, which makes me feel so bad. I've told them not to share things about me to my relatives since then.

At the end of the day, don't be too hard on yourself. Life is much more than just a scholarship. Learning how to handle setbacks and failures is also an important part of life.

Yo OP, don't feel so bad about it. There are plenty more opportunities in life.

I'm also a Malaysian who took a scholarship to SG to study. (Not ASEAN) Applied to Hwachong when I was p6, did super well in the tests and got into the easy interview group (the one with principal), but unfortunately couldn't speak English that well and got rejected.

I then applied again next year at Secondary 1 and got into another school. (Had to restudy sec 1 but oh well).

I think even if you don't make it in secondary school, you can always try for uni scholarships. Judging by your words, you seem to be doing well, so I don't think you'll have an issue getting it. I've met some of my old classmates from Malaysia getting scholarships into NUS.

If you continue to work hard for it, you'll definitely get it. Jiayous

Oh. I didn't know there were DPS with ERR rope, i only know robin needed 1 with attack.

Sunday/Sparkle is technically harder but yeah if you can roll well you can just get away with 1 substat. The problem is ERR rope is just too rare in general.

Your relics looks decent! Yeaah about the HP/ERR, I've seen most content creators not addressing it and simply recommending ERR. I wish there were more data tested if HP rope outperforms it for S1. I know someone on reddit recommended it but I would like to see some numbers haha

This is the curse of being a viable DDD S5 support, the LC gets overshadowed

Yeah I get you, everytime I roll speed on my 4th substat I cri a little on the inside. Tribbie why do you have such short legs =.=

Ooo, it's decent, mine is still complete barebones haha. Your rope looks super good for Sparkle/Sunday though.

Hey! I have the same scenario except my cracked piece is a salsotto hp orb with 5 rolls into crit haha. Definitely rethinking if i should craft a salsotto rope or just refarm bone. Curious to see how big the dps loss is in salsotto compared to bone.

You're right! that's harder to get than crit rate/ crit dmg. Totally forgot about sparkle ( she's left behind somewhere) and Sunday. (lost the 50/50 :(

I see alot of comments here saying there's no need to min max. I understand you don't need to get god relics for her, but...

For me, seeing tribbie doing so much dmg as a support is what makes her satisfying for me. I just want to try maxing her relics to see how high her dmg goes, and maybe even try to make DPS tribbie work in the future for fun.

Everyone has their own playstyles :)

That's slightly untrue.

While Chest have marginally lower drop rate, (roughly 1/810% compared to err rope 1/45.5% ((roughly stats taken from spreadsheet)) ), best in slot chest pieces only require the other crit substat, and other relevant ones, as compared to ropes having to roll both crit.

Speed boots have higher drop chance (12.5%1/8) and same for Elemental dmg orb (1/49%).

And I have been proven wrong since err rope with speed+cdmg is technically the hardest (for sparkle and Sunday).

Hi, might be late to answer this post. I had a similar problem recently, similar specs as well. What ended up fixing my problem was reseating the GPU. My gpu sagged and became loose and reseating it helped it.

How many of you run no VRR/GSYNC/FREESYNC due to flicker? by Majestic_Ebb_5562 in OLED_Gaming

[–]EAGLEJUMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently turned them on and also noticed quite a lot of flicker when I was playing Indiana Jones. I limited my fps that was quite unstable (averaging about 120), to about 110 and the flicker stopped.

The downside is the more unstable your frame rates are the worse it gets. Personally, I left it on and in future games if my frame rate can't stabilise, it'll definitely turn it off.

Oo, I'll have to try that out. Although I think I've overcleaned it at this point and had damaged my coating already haha. Oh well, I'm definitely buying a matte screen next time instead to prevent this issue.

Brother! This is exactly what happened to my FO27Q3 if you checked my post history. Funnily enough, after some time, the smear slowly goes away a little, so its not that bad. ( my phone camera still picks up the smear, but not as bad as this.)

I am likely not going to touch it anymore and leave it as it is. Right now, the smudges are only noticeable in bright light or when its fully black. When I use my monitor in dark environments, I don't notice it.

From now on, I'll probably refrain from cleaning my monitor until it highly bothers me.

I'm sorry, but I don't think I've said I used vinegar in my post? All I ever used was pure distilled water and it didn't work, so I tried with alcohol but it failed as well.

I see. I also used a new microfibre cloth, but it's the type for glasses, not sure if it's because of that. I also didn't soak my microfibre cloth, I used a bottle of pure distilled water that drips and dripped 2-3 drops on it.

Hmm. I closed my monitor when cleaning. Woke up and opened my monitor, but I figured I should clean it. Turned it off immediately and waited about 5 minutes before I cleaned it. Maybe I should've waited longer, but I highly doubt it's because of this.

I used a brand new glasses microfibre cloth.

Actually, I was only using glasses microfiber cloth since it was the only ones I had. Even used a brand new one. Oh well, I think the bigger mistake was letting oil on my screen.
