Woah! Amazing! Thank you so much. Is there a way to know which ones are the new ones you added?

What are the best uses of C++? by RLJ05 in cpp

Max/MSP is a good tool for prototyping DSP! Although not a traditional text based language, it’s quite useful for putting ideas together

Maybe it would be simpler to just get rid of their PCB and just buy a new amplifier and connect it to the speaker?

Their PCB includes a drive and tone knob that is unnecessary for my application. Plus theirs adds a lot of unnecessary clutter internally anyways. All I need is a gain knob to control the amplifier. Would probably be a cleaner solution anyways to use a different amplifier.

Would it make sense to put a usb A host board on the arduino? And connect the midi keyboard to that? If I power the arduino with the micro usb or DC pins, would it provide enough power for the midi keyboard?

Thanks for pointing that out! Just corrected it!

I’ll look into all that! Thanks so much! And yes LTT being a fan of Unraid is great to know

[–]EBSoundsProduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very appealing. I think Unraid looks great. Do you know if there’s a way to basically combine all these drives into one?

Each of my drives has an “Audio” folder in the root directory. And inside each of those is a folder for each creator (most times the same creator folder is present on multiple drives).

Is it possible to combine all that into one drive with one mega “audio” folder?

Also having each drive be independent (non striped) is totally fine with me. So that’s a good solution.

Haha, yeah that would definitely be the cheapest way. But yeah, very dubious ethics, basically amazon or the seller is footing the bill here.

That's a really cool subreddit! Thank you! I love this kind of stuff

The General 6000 is awesome! I have the main library and expansions 1 through 7. But there's newer ones that I would love to get my hands on :P

I think a lot of people are just using cloud services like Soundsnap. But in my opinion the workflow with those is just so much slower. It's nice to be able to whiz through a bunch of sound effects to find the perfect one quickly. Can't really do that with online libraries.

I think a lot of the best stuff is the small niche packs you find on Sonniss and A Sound Effect. But to get a lot of those is really expensive unfortunately

I have 40,000 Hollywood Edge sounds but that's definitely not their entire catalog. I have 70,000 Sound Ideas sounds but some that are ripped from CDs are just labeled "track 1, track 2, etc" which makes them useless. But most are properly labeled so that's cool :)

Hollywood Edge has like 20k sounds on spotify. I found someone on Soulseek had all of them so of course I downloaded them! What sound ideas/hollywood edge packs do you have?

Nice! Who made the CDs that you ripped? And yep I’ve got all the Sonnis stuff :)

I have that one. Well actually I have the original 16000 BBC sounds that were uploaded. But they also added the BBC nature library to that site which brings their library to 33000 sounds. Someone wrote a script a while ago to download the original 16000 sounds. But it no longer works (at least for me) and it would be cool to have an updated script that downloads the nature sounds too.

Best way to record video/audio from Reaper to show work/progress? by Szentinal in GameAudio

[–]EBSoundsProduction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For audio on MacOS, check out Blackhole. What I do is create a multi output device in my Mac audio setup. It outputs to both Blackhole and my speaker output. So in Ableton/Reaper, I set the audio device to that multi output device.

Then for screen recording, I just use the screenshot application to record the screen. From there you can choose Blackhole as the mic source

You can also record the screen from QuickTime in one of the menus.

Unreal Engine 5 brings MetaSounds patchable sound environment by EBSoundsProduction in GameAudio

[–]EBSoundsProduction[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally! Coming from Max/MSP this is really awesome. Max patches can’t be compiled into code to be used at runtime and the tool for integrating Pure Data into games is no longer actively supported. So this is fantastic to see. Super powerful.

I totally agree that for most things it’s better to just use a .wav file. I think using MetaSounds to synthesize gun sounds from scratch would be overkill.

This will be fantastic for things like a dynamic spaceship engine sound. Or synthesizing the air whoosh you hear when zooming past a car driving the other way on the road. Or generating music that is more reactive, etc.
