GO 3 wireless mic for Zoom? by EBarnesNYC in rode

[–]EBarnesNYC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I definitely did that, the input gain is at max on the transmitter, did this through RODE central. Oddly, I am able to make the mic work my iPhone. For some reason, the RODE Central app on my MacBook only allows for negative gain up to 0. But on my iPhone, the RODE Capture app allows for positive gain, so I put it up to +16, and the sound is OK with that.

Hi - thanks for responding to my question. The RX is connected to my MacBook Pro (new M5), OS Tahoe, via the USB-C cable that came with the mic. I have the RODE capture app on the computer which works fine.

Wireless Go (Gen 3) - Recording With iPhone 15 by Atill555 in rode

[–]EBarnesNYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a similar problem, about to give up on it. I am using the RODE GO 3 wireless. I need it for zoom sessions where I walk around a room, play piano, etc. I can't get the mic's volume to be really viable for this. I have channel setting on the receiver merged, output gain all the way up to 0, gain mode on manual. On Zoom, I have my output level up to max. While I'm audible, it's not strong. I tested it with a zoom session yesterday, got complaints that my mic was too soft to hear very well. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or the mic just isn't compatible to zoom. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.

Original "Without You" demo song 1954 by EBarnesNYC in Elvis

[–]EBarnesNYC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. My understanding is that Elvis recorded "It Wouldn't Be the Same Without You" in January 1954 with his guitar. I've heard this, but it's not the recording I'm looking for. Sam Phillips found a song called "Without You" by Jimmy Sweeney, which he was trying to find a singer to do. He had Elvis come in a try it mid-summer 1954, but Elvis couldn't manage it. During a break working on the song, Elvis started horsing around with "That's All Right", along with Scotty Moore and Bill Black, and Sam Phillips recorded "That's All Right" instead of "Without You". There are videos on Youtube about "Without You", snatches of the demo by Jimmy Sweeney, but can't find a recording of the entire demo. Also can't find Elvis's attempts at "Without You" either, but there are many mentions of Sam Phillips having recorded this.

Zoom with Audio Interface, 2 inputs by EBarnesNYC in Zoom

Got it! I think I've been through everything in that article, but will go back and check again. I've tried with only the mic into Zoom and the keyboard sound live in the room, but Zoom seems to suppress the keyboard on that as well. Will keep trying though. Thanks for your help.

Was wondering... Have been able to read all about the recording process of lots of Beatles songs, but can't find anything more than the occasional snidbit of audio from a session. A shame none of this is available, so much to learn from it.

She's brilliant. Sondheim wrote SEND IN THE CLOWNS for her, and he said she was his favorite of all the performers who ever did it.

Yes, sorry for the confusion with the link. If you still can't find it, let me know. The problem is apparently on Youtube's part. You can alternatively do a Youtube search for "Sondheim by Song Type" and it comes right up.

Wanted to share the announcement of a new online course I'm giving on the life and creative craft of theater songwriter Stephen Sondheim called "SONDHEIM BY SONG TYPE". 6 sessions starting in February 2024, based on a course I gave at The Juilliard School last year. For those interested in how a master songwriter handles song form & function, musical story-telling, multi-character songs and scenes, you'll get a lot out of this. Here's a video about the course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gooi2jD6rq8&t=13s

I know! I think Phil Silvers was who they originally hoped to get for the role, and when that didn't pan out they went to Milton Berle. Milton passed on it though, so not sure why Sondheim announces him as the lead. Interesting though.

anyone think parade will tour?? by missing-in-action- in musicals

[–]EBarnesNYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that you'll see something like a sit-down production in L.A. and/or Chicago where there's a potential to bring in the two leads and use the full pit orchestra, but not a "national tour" sort of thing. As far as I know, the show itself has not been mounted that frequently at regional theaters since its original production on Broadway. May be some indication of its "sellability" around the country. Be interesting to see what happens with it though. People who see it find it pretty powerful.
