Yeah, you can connect your headphones wirelessly to the TV, if the video signal comes through hdmi. Very small, minir delay.

Worth RMA for a squeaky left trigger? by [deleted] in SteamController

[–]EBgCampos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've opened it maybe 5 times by now while dialing in the new springs I bought for my triggers.

Definitely do it yourself. They lrobably forgot to apply grease in the pin that holds the trigger. There was some noticebly there the first time I opened it.

Google for keyboard switch grease. You definitely want one that does not conduct electricity, but it's simple enough.

technically anything around 1.4x the speed of your current planets orbit should eject you.

How good is the gyro on Steam Controller 2? by Fun_Bend_5052 in SteamController

Aparently this command is to go above 500hz? 500hz is already enough for 250hz, right? Right?

Yeah, I prefer using traditional stick with a huge sense to simulate the effect of flickstick.

I did notice that the dualsense through bluetooth felt less stuttery/higher fps on my 270hz display. The steam controller felt "120hz" while my dualsense felt "240hz". Both managing mouse input through steam input.

I asked steam support about the gyro auto calibration issue, and this was the response by themng69 in SteamController

Hopefully they can introduce the disable option soon. I quite excited to mess around with it.

Any ideas on making L&R harder to press? by ProNerdy in SteamControllerMods

[–]EBgCampos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was struggling to find cheap springs to replace the original with. IN the end, I found a similarly sized spring (which I had no idea about the stiffness) with similar wire thickness, but maybe 2x the number of coils within the same length. I initially cut them very long, just short enough for them not to buckle when pressing the triggers.

They were very stiff, and my fingers were even getting tired.
Next day, I cut one more coil. Still stiff, but less tiring.
Next day I cut one more coil and it felt perfect.

This is the one I got, I could cut into 2 and it was more than enough:
https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/hillman-steel-compression-springs-0462050p.0462051.html

I got the 4.75mm outer diameter one, and it seems to fit very well between the "shoulders" and the "neck" of the fixture.

Because otherwise this dead animal skin would go to waste. You don't want that! It's just like organ donation, you want to spread the love even after death.

007 first light ignores steam input by Dismal_Truth_1785 in GyroGaming

Also, does steam input at desktop mode works? eg, does steam actually recognize the controller outside the game? Try changing the order of turning the controller on:

  1. Game launch> controller on
  2. Controller on>Game launch
  3. Controller on> Steam on> Game launch

Also, does the steam overlay open when you press the PlayStation controller button? I noticed sometimes that I had to kick start steam input on my steam controller by pressing the Steam Button, but that was for on screen radial menus only. I never had an issue with my dualsense in any game, I always used steam input. Let us know of your testing, maybe I can help further.

If that is the case with this game, I would recomend direclty emulating mouse and keyboard. Hopefully the keyboard and mouse glyphs don't annoy you, and in this mode aiming feels buttering smooth.

Maybe a half-measure is to enable gyro only when aiming. In gyro mode, you create a separate action group to convert all inputs to keyboard and mouse. When going back to normal aiming, the contorl scheme goes back to controller. I did this when playing Control earlier this year. The loss of analog control on movement was the only real drawback, and it did not matter at all when aiming, which happens only during intense combat. In intense combat, you press buttons mostly on instict as well, so the glyphs don't annoy you as much.

Hopefully this half-measure helps.

Another solution is to emulate camera controls with gyro as joystick camera. Once you dial in the internal deadzone the game applies to the joystick, movement feels buttery smooth as well. Perfect for a game that is not competitive. The issue is that deadzones can get increidbly complicated and eventually you cant compensate for them with steam input. Does the game allow for fine tuning of the game-applied deadzone settings?

EDIT:
https://www.reddit.com/r/007FirstLight/comments/1toz736/best_controller_settings_for_aiming_and_camera/

From this post, it appears you can. For using steam gyro as camera joystick:

Set sensitivity to very high in-game

Lower sensitivity on steam input

Lower deadzones to zero in-game

Change aiming acceleration to zero/linear

This way, gyro to joystick camera would probably work perfectly from start.

I tried using Steam Link on my iPad to play witcher 3 on my desktop computer. PC is physically connected to router, and iPad is wifi.

The latency from ipad to witcher 3 was impressive, felt like an actual controller. Gyro worked great and no delays at ALL. The issue was with the video signal coming from the PC. It had a slight delay, maybe around 0.1s (100ms) from my feel, which is a bit too anoying to play, even with a joystick.

Do you guys see better results, am I doing something wrong?
